{USERNAME} wrote: You excited to get back into it? Whats the first thing your going to tackle on the Mav? Its funny about right parts at the wrong time. Seems when your looking for something else, bargains come along for other projects that are suppose to be on the back burner. Like you said though, its done now. Yeah will definitely be happy to get back into doing the Mav. The ute being sorted is a good thing. It has given me the kick in the a*** to prove to myself that I can finish off a project and make a f**k good job of it. I think the ute has turned into what it is now out of spite. I was too spiteful to let it and a certain s**t beat me. I think out of the whole thing I have definitely come out the winner. No idea what the first job to tackle on the Mav will be. There is about a million jobs to be done , I just have to go through it bit by bit. Ill just be going by the saying myself and Edzie use when we get handed a huge pain in the a*** job at work. "How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time..................."

Nothing new to report with the Fairute.
Just fitted a et of new tyres to it and drive it to work. Also removed the old cotton reels from when the tonneau cover was fitted and put some plastic plugs in once I painted them. Looks much neater. The new boots are 265/35 18 on the rear and 245/40 on the front. I could of got a 285 on the rear but it would of not allowed me to carry any weight in it. f**k that. It needs to work for its keep. Have started back on the huge mission that is the Mav. I was originally going to leave a bit of stuf fitted to the chassis and mask it up before sandblasting and painting. Then decided since this is the last vehicle I plan on doing a big build on , as there are other things in life I want to do , its a case of just go all out and do it properly. This is where I got to this afternoon. {DESCRIPTION} Need to build the rear coil spring tower bracing and fit it , then it will be sandblast and paint time. I need to finish off the serpentine conversion and build an air con pump bracket , then the motor and box will be pulled out to paint everything up. I found these on ebay. {DESCRIPTION} Rear quarter chop fill in plates that are all laser cut. For $40 delivered to my door , I really couldnt be f**k making templates and cutting plates with an angle grinder and a nibbler. Once again just trying to do s**t properly.

Nice effort there matt, looking a bit more bare than last time I saw it.
In true Jew form, last time I saw it we were "recycling" the fuel out of it and the AU wrecker.

Are you changing pinion angle of that diff?
Can't go too high on my shorty unless I mod the diff

{USERNAME} wrote: Are you changing pinion angle of that diff? Can't go too high on my shorty unless I mod the diff Dude its sitting on stands with no shocks in it and no springs. To give you and idea how much the diff is drooped at the moment , my springs are 10" longer then standard and I removed them this arvo with no compressors. They just dropped out. Whoever told you you have to mod your diff is smoking C**k. You use adjustable upper and lower rear control arms to adjust the pinion angle. It also gets rid of the standard Nissan arms that are made out of plastiscene. You will also need to put a wedge in your gearbox crossmember to get the uni joint angle right with a shorty with a big lift.

Lower arms need to be longer and top arms shorter for it to work.
If you want get serious about putting a big lift in you MUST get adjustable arms form the likes of Superior Engineering etc. For info flick Shane at Suspension Stuff an email. He will help you out. You may not like the price of a good big lift kit but. Remember you need caster correction , extended brake lines , extended diff breathers blah blah blah. Do you want a big lift for offroad capability or to be a wank on road?

He just hasent done the rear. He told me a few months ago he had to mod the diff to get the vibration out

Kicked a bit of a goal today.
I managed to find the time to make the new bracket for the AU aircon pump. The pump in its factory position couldn't be fitted as it was hitting the chassis rail. Not good. So I have made a new mounting plate which brings the pump upwards and out towards to inner guard. Clears the chassis rail now easily. The inner guard will most likely need to be trimmed to fit but that's no issue. {DESCRIPTION} {DESCRIPTION} So now that's done the motor and gearbox can be removed from the chassis for more work to start. Once the motor is sitting on the stand I will quickly weld up the mounting tubes onto the base plate and paint it up all pretty. Progress!
