Definitely sliders. Most likely some well tucked in front and rear scrub bars as well.
Try and tie the rear bar and front bar together.

My mates got the 2.8gu. It performs quite well offroad but it over heats easy, They love cracking heads.

A mate of mine a 2.8 Turbo GU.....no overheating probs at all....and he pulls a large camper trailer with it too.

Mine has already been braced up as well as the rear spring towers that break all the time as well. Post up your pics by all means. It's always great to look at how everyone does stuff differently. There is always something to learn.

OK....this was a diesel jobby....had about 400K on it....me thinks plenty of that was off road.
This one even had cracks in the chassis under the engine mount bracket. My employer at the time was really pushing me to get it done......they were and still are c0ckheads. They had no idea or concept of how big a job it is to do it right. I had to remove the steering box....then I unpicked the Panard Rod upper mounting bracket...and removed a dodgey previous repair, and also unpicked the Engine mounting bracket as well. I beadblasted the removed components before welding back into position. I also V'd out the cracks before welding too. I didn't get to take a pic of when it was finished and painted. Some more pics..............this chassis was cracked badly.....wouldn't have been surprised if it made noises while turning corners.
Upsidedown welding is a b!tch. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Yep that's how they go.
Mine has already be given the bracing that was part of the factory recall. Still thinking I might fishplate the whole lot but.

Did some more work on it this arvo.
With the rear of it starting to look pretty good , I figured that having the open area in the front of what the old back doors were with the hinges etc exposed looked like a half done job. So this is how I fixed it. Removed the bottom hinge , cleaned up the area to weld and hit it with weld through primer. Made up a template from an old Pepsi box. Filled the old door hinge mounting bolt holes and the hole where the cables run into the back door through the pillar. Cut out a piece of plate slightly larger then the template. Tacked it in and checked for fit. Once it was fitting well , trimmed it up perfect , welded it in and gave it a grind and a quick coat of paint. Much better and well worth the effort.

Nice work!
I've got a garage, but most of my work is in the driveway, because I don't have enough coin to buy a garage big enough for me lol. Cheers ToranaGuy
