Have not touched this for a bit now as I have had a Fairlane to get sorted out..........
I am getting my mig fixed up this week as I managed to trash the gun on it so am hoping to be able to get stuck back into it in the afternoons.
The rear isnt too far from being finished steel wise. Needs a couple of little panels put in , cleaning up and thats about it. The just have to work on the tray area. Shouldnt be too bad.
It now has a window at least!

I actually worked outthe other night this is the longest I have EVER owned a vehicle for , including my beloved Camaro. Coming up to 3.5 years now. s**t my first marriage was on shaky ground after 18 months! It must be love...........LOL
Not too bad 3.5 years , 7000kms and f**k knows how many $$$$'s....................

Kicked some huge goals this weekend.
Basically spent a day and a half on it and got heaps done.
The rear firewall is basically finished steel wise. Just a couple of little touch ups to do and panle in the interior around the window so there is no sharp edges. The rest of it will be panelled in on the inside after it has had its first engineering inspection so they can check the reinforcment etc.
Got the rear tailgate doors cut down and steeled in at the top so it actually looks like a ute now when you look at it instead of an abortion. Actually the best way to describe it is it looks like a mighty boy on roids.
Even remembered to fit a steel cross bar at the front to fit torneau clips to............me is a smart cookie!
Also got a bit over half of the panel joints Sikaflexed before I run out. The panel work is attached to the reinforcement bars by plug welds on the outside , stitch welds on the inside and the stitch welds are joined by Sikaflex 227. It is a structural Polyurethane and done this way gives the panels two different ways of attachment so hopefully it is a fail safe and the engineer looks at it in a good light. Added bonus is Sika makes all messy stuff look tidy!
Just have to cut some steel for the side and rear fill in panels in the rear and screw them on and its just about ready to have a lick of paint chucked around.
Very very happy with how it is coming along , the love has been rekindled with the old girl. Depending on how the engineering and insurance goes it MAY have a healthy Perfromer RPMII equipped and GT40P headed 5.0 fitted to it in November......................

Yeah Ash Im pretty stuffed tonight but pretty damn happy.
Best bit is nothing will have to be fitted back to the Mav , as nothing come off it to fix the boat.
I was adament that the Mav would never be a parts car so it didnt turn into a garden gnome.
Maybe with any luck Ill get to take it for a little drive this week.
Yeah coming to the end of the construction stage , then it will be the make pretty stage.
I didnt get any pics today as I was too busy to get the camera out.
I just spoke to the insurance company and providing it is engineered and RTA approved they have no issue insuring it!!!!
It is time to finish the old girl off and actually use it. I am threatening to make it a daily driver. I have spent bazillians of dollars on it and dont use it. Its about time that it was used and stuff the consequences.
Am also thinking about ditching the LPG on it as for the hassles it causes and room it takes up it is not really financially beneficial enough anymore to warrant it. Being an old 425 Impco setup with no computer control it uses approximately twice as much LPG as petrol. With LPG being only just under half the price of fuel now the savings are not there anymore.

Froudey I will work on the pics. I am fairly proud of how it is coming along so should get some.

Daz. Funny you should mention AFD. Donna just told me to not worry about her car and pull out all stops to get the Mav there.................Im just worried that the rest of the truck is a bit too shabby to show. I could get a lot done over the next month I think , but the full respray it despreately needs wont be done.
Can you shoot me your number in a PM mate? Its time to talk about an airbox , but me being me I am going to be difficult........LOL
I am deadset fuming about the time the boat took to sort out , but s**t happens and it wont be in vain. Getting it all sorted out and running will be very worth it..................and trust me the revenge the boat should get if all goes well and to plan will be very painful and satisfying....................

I will turn up too - I guess that you will need some 'encouragement'

I will shout things like "You swing that hammer like a girl", and "I've seen better heads hanging over a trough" and "my a** has less damage than that truck"

Thanks guys. Really appreciate it.
I am trying my hardest to get it there but if it means doing a s**t job or it being about 4th rate I will pull out.
I can live with second rate but..............
Wonder if I will get in with bits of the old girl painted in pressure pack?
I got a pretty fair whack done this afternoon and went down to see the engineer but he wasnt there so thats a tomorrow afternoon job.
Back at it tomorrow and lets see what happens........................
