Ok time for some piccies.
The interior at the moment. Excuse everything covered in a nice shade of bog dust and grinding sparks. Gunna take some cleaning that one.............
Image
The roof lining does look better in person but we are far from happy with it. There is a stack of space behind the seats. I could of put the wall closer but want to put a MDF box behind the seat to house the sub , amp , air compressor and all that crap. Will be a job once its ticked off.

Made the steel infill plates for the ute section.
Image
Image

Made them using the original trim panels as a template and tweaked them to suit. Isnt it fun cutting curves with a 4" angle grinder............
Will cover all the joins in sealant so it is tidy but can be removed for access to the inner guards. The tub will then be painted out in colourflek now it is back on the market. Will be a black base with multicoloured fleck.

I decided to join the bad boy crew and deleated my rear wiper and washer as well.
Image

Im not too worried about the legalities seeing as though I also deleated the window , half the door and the roof as well........

The back and side of the cab in high fill.

Image
Image

The body work still needs some more tweaks tomorrow and I would say it is only at about 70%. Im not going to put too much time , money and effort into it until it is passed just incase half of it has to be ripped back out.

Just a random shot showing the truck from behind now and the new cut down half doors.

Image

Getting there with it all. I dont think it is coming out too bad for a dude that works on the electricity system for a job and is doing it solo in the driveway.

Should be able to find enuff time to do the airbox b4 next weekend if you still need it......

Where'd you get the rubber for the rear window? It's a flat piece of glass isnt it?

Cheers

Daz

Cheers Daz.
Truth be known I havent even looke dat the airbox yet. Been too busy doing stuff.
Will look at it before Friday and see whats what.
Dunno if the truck will be at AFD. After having a look at it the truck is looking a bit poor in general to show. Will find out the general consenses and work it out from there.
The rear window actually come from an XD S pack Panel Van. I got the entire top door , cut out the window housing and fitted it into the wall. That way the glass has the little harderned stamp on it for enginneering and is somethingthat should at least be able to be ordered if required.
Had a good run at it today. Looks fairly good. Didnt get anypics happening because as soon as I was thinkinga bout knocking off for the day Donna suggessted we take her godson to the drags. Well no point going to the drags and not having a pedal hey?
So I spent the night at WSID instead of taking pictures.
On the WSID front I run a 15.3@92MPH so some improvements are there. The 2.6 60 foot times are killing me and I still need more power in the top end.
Im thinking this motor will go very very well in the Mav if I can get the extractors to fit the heads with the plug angle and the manifold to fit around the body. It will be very very tight so dont know if it can be done.
The weights once I do a few more weigHt saving measures will be not too far off each other , it will be a 5 speed and the weight transfer off the mark will be unbelieveable with the soft suspension and height.
If it all fits I will slip the new cam in the motor , change the diff gears back to 4.11 from the current 4.625 and go racing.I reckon it should run the same times as the lane if not a bit faster.Burnouts on muddies should be interesting...

Cheers Phill.
Dont think Ill race next wednesday night. The more fun in the lane I have will make it that much harder to kill it off soon.
Will get another pic up of where the Mav is after dinner. Its going well and I actually started it up this evening. Hasnt been fired up for 3+ months and it started first turn of the key. I think it is telling me it wants to be driven.
Going to have a big day tomorrow on it. I am hoping to have it drivable by dark.

Well here is what it is starting to look like.
Image

The black in the tray is just the first coat so why it looks so rough. It will get the colorflek once it is being painted properly.
The rest of the body work is s**t house I reckon but Im not going to put too much time and effort into it until it is signed off , which is getting closer I hope.
