When i did my starter motor in the EB Ghia recently, i would have loved it to be as high as the mav off the ground, would have made the job rather easy! Glad to read it run well after that little hickup was sorted.

Cheers

Well its all happening around here!
Plans got changed around this afternoon when I tore half the bumper off Donnas XR again...........I should be banned from that vehicle!
Basically we went down to the shops in it and we were chatting as I pulled into a parking spot. Well after driving the Mav for the last couple of weeks I clean forgot just how low the XR is at the front.
Managed to smack it into the concrete gutter but somehow push the car over the top of it. Went it to the shops not realising how far it was stuck , come back out and jumped in it , and forgetting I was in a low car again backed out somewhat quick............CRUNCH!
Manged to break the grille mount on the side and tore the bar down on the left. So this time the bar is going to have to come off for the repair which leaves Don without a car. No worries use the Fairlane while I am fixing it.
Well then we worked out that if the lane had already gone we would be in a bit of a pickle with the current situation. So we did some sums and worked out with a bit of belt tightening it makes more financial sense to keep the lane and slow down the build on the Mav.
I did think about still getting rid of the lane and buying a hack to run around in but that doesnt make any sense neither. Rego and insurance costs the same on a s**t or a good car , so to get rid of what is essentially a bloody good car and then spend money to buy someone elses problems is pretty dumb even for me.
So the build on the Mav will slow down somewhat , but be more thorough and an all round better job and it will stay as purely a going away vehicle that is set up for off road use with out compromise. It will still get out and about terrorising the neighbourhood every now and again but will be the toy not the daily.
It will keep the stupidly low range gearing for off road , and it doesnt need a heap of power or speed to do its job. It needs torque and reliability.
So the motor will be rebuilt in time as a mainly stock motor (asthmatic top end and all) and will be used for what it was built for.
Things are going to be very tight for a while but with any luck my works CEO will either wake up to himself soon or get the a*** and we can start earning some money again..........it will be all worth it in the end. I hope........

Nah Im not on the lounge. Don was really good about it actually. She said if I delibrately rammed it into the wall she would have the s**t but it was an accident so its all cool.
Who knows it maybe time to turn the negative into a positive and do something nice to the XR?

Sucks about the Xr, but yeah, this could be oppotunity knocking dude!

Good idea on keeping the lane & not buying a s**t.

Cheers

Matt, all you need is to get the bottom of a EF GLi bar and attach the top half of the EL XR bar.

Ah life needs to be simple.
Was having a quick flick through Ebay and found a 4.11 front diff centre nearby with 1 bid on it and only 25mins to go.
Thought oh well nothing to lose and put a bid on it.
Got it for $51.00!!!! Major Score.
Already have been down and picked it up and it is like new.
So now to find a rear one and then I can change back to a 4.11 setup to run 33" tyres if I choose to. The 4.625 centres in it currently are about 4000kms old and worth about $1200 to sell off , so there is cash to be made there.
This will make it faster on the road which is a good thing. So now I have to work out this weekend if I keep the lane as well as the truck and just do it slow or go back to one of the previous plans and buy a hack for the running around duties and do the truck properly....oh decisions decisions........

Things are going well.
Huge thanks to Daz who chucked his old Long Range tank my way for nix. Thanks mate its really appreciated! I will be packing cans next time I come over!
Have found another 4.11 rear LSD centre so have to pop over and pick that up tonight and get some diff centre changes done this week as the buyer of my 4.6 centres is picking them up on the weekend...........
Also the daily hack has been organised and the deal done! Just have to work out picking it up and give the good man some $$$$'s if he doesnt break it first with his hijinks!
All I will say at the moment is that it is somewhat hillarious , but it is a Ford...............

The hack is an ex taxi , camper van , mole patrol , a*** kind of thing............
Yeah I am buying the Fairwagon.
It appears to make no financial sense to buy another car when I already have a functioning one , but the fairwagon will completely get rid of the temptation to spend money on it. At this point in time that is what has to be done.
It will be played with but I will have enough bits and pieces laying around that would either be stored in the shed or thrown away to be able to make something different out of it without spending any cashola.
Then Donna can take it shopping , park it wherever and we really wont be too fussed on if it gets a door opened into it or what not.
I have a couple of ideas for the future to have a bit of fun in it but it will be in the future.
First cabs off the rank is the Mav and the XR and then later on the wags..............
