Haha no great thrill with the wagon for me.
It will be just a hack to do the day to day stuff.
I know it is the right decision to make but I am also doubting the decision if that makes any sense.
The lane starts , runs and drives well and I know the car and touch wood there isnt really anymore money to be spent on it unless I want to for a bit.
Buying another car is a scary thought. Cars that are running great for previous owners seem to have a habbit of f**k up on me and I dont want to start throwing cash at another car.
Anyways......................
Started changing the diff centres in the Mav over today. I forgot fromlast time just how gay that job is. It is gayer then gay a***.
I would have the rear finished by now and be test driving it had I actually went and bought silicon and some oil today instead of thinking I would use what I thought I had at home..............
Oh well hopefully will get home from owrk tomorrow in time to finish the rear , take it for a little squirt to test it and then jack it up to start on the front.

Well things have been a little slow around here as of late due to a few circumstances.
Our quick little trip down to Melbourne to check out the Titanic exhabition turned to s**t in a real big way when the lane broke down and we had to leave it , return to Sydney in a rental car , grab Yobbos car trailer (thanks heaps mate!) and Dads patrol and drive back down in the middle of the night to recover the lane.
But before this the guy was late picking up the diff centres , our landlord has gone bankrupt so we dont know how long till we have to move and now I have somehow f**k my shoulder again.......................I knew I shouldnt have broke that mirror last month. Either that or I can start writing a Country and Western best seller. Just need the dog and the missus to leave me and for me to turn to alcoholism to have a number 1 hit!
So anyways its time to get back into it.
I have to fit the locker to the front diff and get that back together so the truck is moveable again then the EF Fairmont wreck out the back will be leaving the building.
The motor from the lane will be going into the Mav on the October long weekend all things going well. Then until life settles down and gets back on track we will be living with 2 cars for a while. It was worked out while it would of been great to grab the fairwagon , at the end of the day it would of turned into another project and I really need that like a hole in the head at the moment.
Just need to finish the Mav properly , organise ourselves with the future reshuffles we are facing and then work on a few personal issues I have from the past.
Time to slow down , get the priorities straight and learn to enjoy life and learn to be happy. Being a happy person can be a struggle with me. While I do appear to be a happy go lucky kind of person , I do have a very dark side to face up to from the past and it is about time to do it.
2010 has been a hard time for myself and while it is very depressing , it is actually good that it has given me the kick along I really needed to sort things out and move on before I f**k up things well and truly and destroy the good things I do have in my life.
Watch this space , there will be action ahead!

We all have skeletons from our past that inevitably catch up with us one way or another mate.
Good luck with whatever hurdles are coming your way and I hope things turn out for the best. You certainly could do with a bit of good luck for a change.
Get yourself one of those f**k good luck charms from the markets that you hang over the doorway, could help
Cheers,
Mick

Found a few spare moments this afternoon and got the replacement front diff centre stripped down , locker fitted and all put back together.
So now it is just a fairly simple reassembly of the front axle.
Fingers crossed the threatened rain does not eventuate and I can get most of it knocked over tomorrow afternoon. Want it back on the ground and drivable again by the weekend. Admitedly I will have to swap coils betweent he lane and the truck  but it will be nice to have the nugget back on the road again. Then it will be time to progress further with the next stages............

Well well well.
I have finally got my s**t together , made a decision and will be sticking to it.
The lane whilst ok isnt really tickling my fancy. I want to get it to go somewhat faster but it is just going to cost a crap load of cash at the moment that can be funnelled elsewhere.
So while at work today our old EL Mont pulled up next to me (poor old car is f**k now  ) and the decision was made for me.

We are shopping for an EF or EL. Preferably a Fairmont and if possible a wagon. Surprise surprise it will be a 6 banger too.
The lane will be stripped , the motor put into the Mav , some choice bits put onto the XR and some stuff will go onto the new car when it arrives. The rest will be sold off. Everyone who has asked me for stuff allready. will be given the first option.
I will be using the new Fairmont as a run around while I sort out a few bits on the Mav. Once that is done the Fairmont will become Donnas daily and the XR8 will be tucked away , tidied back right up to mint condition and taken out a couple of times a week for a bit of a cruise.
It will live a life of luxury and be treated for what it is instead of a shopping cart.
Further down the track the Fairmont will get a T5 and a few bits and pieces and possibly eventually be turboed.
That will be much further down the track.
Seems to be an idea that we both get a win out of and is the most financially viable idea.
If anyone knows of any cheap EF/EL's in NSW let me know. It has to be an EF/EL as I have a pile of bits kicking around here for them. Doesnt even have to be Fairmont as I have a Fairmont donor in the back yard but it would be nice. Just after something reasonably clean , with rego.

Its a bloody nice car Mick but unfortunately is a bit more then I am looking at spending at the moment.
Pretty much looking for a cheapish stocker as I have a lot of parts here already to pretty it up.

Believe it or not Ben there is absolutley zero temptation on the 5.0 wagon.
I cant believe I am saying it but I am currently over the E series V8. The costs of getting decent power out of them is stupid and s**t like the power steering pumps , alternators etc is just a pain in the a*** to keep a car on the road easily.
Now if there was a Fairmont wagon with a Cleveland option................... totally different story!
Nope the next one will be a 6 cylinder. Parts available at the fish and chip shop 7 days a week , T5 conversions are readily available and affordable and then a snail can be bolted to it for not a bad cost bang for your buck wise.
I will always be a V8 man but this time around it just isnt ticking the right boxes for me. Remember this car will be just a tidy run around to do our thing with that we will not be real precious about.

In other news the Mav has the front diff finished and is all back together. Dropped it off the stands and went to start it up to take it for a drive.
f**k wouldn't start!
It now has a coil problem. Apparantly the coil from it will not let the Mav run while it is in the Fairlane................stupid cars.
