Well things have been happening along here , just been too busy to post progress.
Started building a new airbox on Thursday. Its 90% there but still looks too hobo , booty fab engineering to post pics yet.
That is this weeks job to finish along with a million others.
LPG is now well and truely gone , and long range tank is in and plumbed up. Transferred the fuel across from the old belly tank (love having a Carter black LP pump. Transferred 40litres in 5 minutes) before it was removed.
Got everything sorted out and plumbed up and went ot the servo with a*** scab docket in hand to fill her up.
Found out I had forgot to fit a breather hose as fuel started to spit out so I stopped filling. It had taken $100 worth by then and it still still sucking it down! Hope it lasts for a while................
Have got some new LED interior lights and a 18W LED work light for the rear on order so it will be interesting to see what they are like. Will have the work light fitted to test at the upcoming CIYM camping trip.
A new sexy bit arrived the other day.
Image

3" centre to centre Hooker Aerochamber muffler. Have only heard good reports for them with both performance and the note so it will be interesting to hear what it sounds and performs like. The high flow 3" cat is due tomorrow so maybe once I have finished with the days chores(and there is a few of them!) I will get it all up to the exhaust place to be fitted.

Flow restriction? Whats that?

Well I can tell you that the ol' boat exhaust got a nice run today up to the Central Coast, plenty of loud when booted but when cruising just a nice V8 burble, bro-in-law is jealous his XR8 doesn't sound as good as the Fairlane! 1 vote for Redback mufflers!
p.s. Mav's lookin' good needs a gerni under bonnet me thinks!

Cheers Rossco.
Yeah the old boat did sound pretty good. Im really glad your happy with the exhaust now it son yours!
I have always heard so much hype about the Aero Chambers so wanted to give one a run but could never justify the cost. This one come up cheap so I grabbed it.
All shall be revealled soon hopefully. If they are as good as they say one will be making its way onto the XR8 I thinks.
Yeah the Mav could most certainly use a gerni. Its your fauly but mate! That is still the aftermath after we took on that "little" puddle that night!

After we finished playing dodgy diff installs and Fordmod brake upgrades today , my new cat convertor rocked up in the post truck.
Didnt get a chance to take a pic as it was all thrown straight into the Mav and off to the exhaust place we went.
So it now has a Magnaflow 200cell 3" cat , 3" Hooker muffler and all 3" piping.
I can say it is f**k loud!
Also the Hooker mufflers have one of the sweetest noises I have ever heard. They have a real deep throbbing sound. It actually sounds nearly good enough to be mistaken for a Clevo!

Yeah mate a very big call.
It sounds really good. Will sound better again once the new motor that actually has compression instead of being tired and with the cam goes in.
Only a few weeks off hopefully now!
It doesnt feel as constipated now but seems to have lost a bit of torque. That will come back with new motor.
Still goes good enough for it to step out big time in the wet at 40kms when I hit it getting out of the school zone. Donna was following me and reckoned she had a nice side view of the nugget!

It was very f**k wet here yesterday Ash. It started at lunch time and poured down until it was time to go to work this morning................
No hail luckily. I need to clean out the carport to be able to get the XR under it.
How did your cars hold up? Good thing the little horse isnt there yet. that would be heart breaking.
Just spent this afternoon getting the service line and lockoffs out as the guy that bought it all wants to pick them up tomorrow. Then started to make some head way in a bit of a wiring tidy up. That will take some work.............

That aero chamber muffler looks sweet man! Looks nice and tough. I'm interested in hearing what it sounds like.

It certainly is a sexy muffler Mason.
It sounds tuff when it is warm but sounds s**t when it is cold.
Anyway that will fix itself soon.
In other news the airbox system is 90% done. It is installed but the current pod filter in it only has a 3" neck where I need a 3.5 to 4" for the MAF. So that needs to be changed when I get a filter to get rid of the restriction. One day this week I hope.
Also need to track down some 4" flexible tubing somewhere that has the wire reinforcing in it and a couple of adaptors. This will allow me to get the air hose down behind the second battery and hook up to the current snorkel for bit so it is actually getting some cool air instead of hot engine bay air.
Anyone have any idea on where to get it from?
