Yes it is thankyou very much! Turned up this morning , very impressed.
Very cool little bonus package too Grant! My toolbox is going to look very cool once they go on. Actually I bought a new toolbox for the truck today. Maybe I should get out there decorating!
As far as what I got , well I reckon you know the answer to that...........

Well have been making slow progress on getting everything ready to change it all over but unfortunatley life keeps getting in the way!
Am taking possesion of the olds GU patrol on Sunday for a few weeks so Im hoping this is where mine will come off the road and get done.
I have ordered a few LSD shims as the LSD is in a pretty bad way since last weekend. So will shim that up till its pretty much locked.
There should be some nice update pictures on Sunday of what I am getting on Sunday morning....
Also have ordered some new suspension. Since the chop has been done it has ridden as rough as and the rear sits higher then the front. Removal of the LPG tank and the second fuel tank has only made the problem worse. Also it is now maxing the rear shocks out and the rear is refusing to flex.
All in all major dramas that meant something had to be done.
Ordered a new set of rear flexi coils that are being custom made for the current weight , new front and rear shocks (the rears are looong travel for flex) , extended sway bar link pins and a new steering damper. Total bill when it comes in...........$900.
Things are still a happening! Just hope I have the funds to get it painted before next years AFD. I really want it there this time. If it dont get pinched first...................

Well today I had a package arrive from Dungog spares via the ever dependable Dungog freight service!
I got a set of BA XR seats off Ashcook!
They are a very very close fit. They need some support frames made up and to be moved about 30mm closer to the centre console so thats one of this weeks jobs. Once the BA rails were removed they were very close to being a direct bolt up to the Maverick rails , but sit slightly out towards to doors and not 100% flat.
Would be fine for a smaller person that wasnt anal but I will make up a frame out of some small RHS and use that as a bolt in point.
Looks good but and are mega comfy!

Had to get them in quick Ash as I didnt want to leave them out in the weather. The conversion is not as easy as it was made out to be but it most certainly aint hard.
Also I just wanted to do it!
Nah not keeping the electric base. I actually had to remove the Falcon bases and use the Maverick ones on them because of the stupid shaped floor pan and height of the standard seats.
I have some plans for what to do with the old front seats. Just need to pull stuff apart to see if it will work.
Yeah bear I am the same. If I bought standard sports seats I would look like winnie the pooh when I got stuck in them! I remember the XR seats from my bros BA XR6T and they were great. Really happy to have my own set now!
Nah not chasing another one mate unless it is real cheap and has some good parts on it. Let me know the details!

Decided to have a look under the bonnet today.

Image

Oh s**t looks like we aint going no where for a bit...............
Big thanks to TerroristGHIA who drove up and gave me a hand ripping the old heart out. It didnt want to let its old heart go thats for sure. Was stuck in fairly solid.
After a bit of cursing , swearing , thinking and some rather heavy handed games it was free.
Looks like I found why it was down in performance but. With the plugs in still I could grab the flywheel and turn the motor over by hand.....................yeah she was tired.
Pulled the clutch off to start getting stuff ready for the change over and found a surprise I was not at all happy about , somewhat p****d off about actually.

Image
Image
As you can see the clutch plate on the pressure plate side is pretty much trashed. Flywheel side is pretty good.
Where it is interesting is the pressure plate. It is hard to see in the pics but the clutch has only actually been clamping and driving on the outside edge. The inner still has the machine marks in it from new. The outer has a few burn marks and is pretty much shot. Kind of explains why I was never happy with the clamping force from day one since it was put in. It could be made to slip fairly easily. How many km's has the clutch doen you ask? Less then 6000.........
Took it up and showed the old man and Stu the family clutch expert and they both came to the same diagnosis looking at it seperatly. The diaphram is stuffed.
I bought it from a clutch place a couple of years ago before Stu got into the clutch game otherwise I would of got it off him.
After paying $680 for it with major assurances of "it will be the best thing you have ever bought" I have the s**t. I will be going back to see the place tomorrow arvo to see if they will warrant it , but Im not holding my breath. If I have to fork out for another one it will be coming through Stu , at least then someone who knwos what is going on will be looking after it.
Then I have to sort out a new set of leads for it as the ones on it hit the extracotrs with the GT40P's..............the fun of playing cars a couple of weeks before christmas.........

HAHAHA! Nah there really isnt that much under there it is just a brothel at the moment.
Only took about and hour and a half to get everything stripped down ready to pull it before Brett got here then about 45mins after that to get it out.
Certainly needs a big Karcher and scrub under there but. A few years worth of muds gets places you would of never guessed!

Indeed I do Grant. There will be a PM coming your way in a few minutes too.

Spent the last couple of afternoons getting the clutch sorted out and it looks like the problem was a friction material that was too soft.
I was going to get a cushioned button but the clutch guy isnt too keen on it. So first we are trying a custom made clutch plate. It will be organic and kevlar apparantly that will have a good bite when hot.
Dont know how its going to go but they are covering half the cost of everything which Im not happy about ( they should be fixing it for free in my eyes) but I cant complain. It is still a lot cheaper then paying for an entire new setup.
So hopefully tomorrow afternoon the flywheel should be machined , the pressure plate machined , clutch plate rebuilt and new throwout bearing ready to go and me a couple of hunjy lighter.................
Ordered all the gaskets etc today so will be able to start putting s**t together starting tomorrow arvo!
