Only a few days off Ash nothing major but over Chrissy.
I work through the break and save my holidays for when everyone else has finished theirs. Not much happens during the break anyway. Well a couple of minor issues have risen their ugly head but IT"S ALIVE! All in and running. Throttle bracket is ugly and needs to be redone later and I still have to make a mounting bracket up for the Malpassi regulator. The tidy up some old wiring and s**t. Its nearly there but as always not quite! Have to mount the second battery in the tray as the airbox has had to be changed around and a new one will be going in where the battery tray is at the moment. Not real happy about it but have no other options. That will be a boxing day job when Donna is at work. If it takes up too much room after a test run I will do similar to Daz and mount it under the rear floor. ALso have to build a new airbox. I will doctor something up tomorrow afternoon to get it on the road but the new and improved version will be coming. Hoping to take it for a drive tomorrow night!

Well its back on the road and I drove it this afternoon.
Still needs to be tuned but goes ok. Few little bits and pieces to finish off and change around but it will happen. At least it lives again!

Well no pics at the moment but a bit of a run down on where it is at.
Have got it all up and running and have spent the last week terrorising the good people of everywhere in it. Surprisingly I havent had any major issues touch wood. Still need to make some brackets and cover plates to finish it off but little things keep popping up. Next is a good inlet pipe , airbox , battery tray and snorkel. This should start a happening next week when the steel shop opens again. Donna bought me a set of twin volts guages , water temp and oil pressure guages and mounting cups for christmas so have been busy fitting them up. Must get some pictures of them! New suspension gets ordered tomorrow. Flexi front springs , extended shocks to get max flex , extended sway bar link pins and a heavy duty steering dampner. Hope some overtime comes in over the weekend to pay for it all! Also found a deal on another forum today that was too good to pass up. A member was changing over his headdeck out of his patrol and decided to sell off his double din unit with full size screen , DVD player and TV tuner in it! So I will be able to watch porn while travelling once it turns up next week. Probably not the greatest unit in the world but for $80 delivered I aint going to complain. He is a trusted member and trader on the patrol forum so I have faith it will be what he says it is. The good Pioneer deck will stay in it for music and I will just work out some way of splitting the RCA's between the TV and stereo as I will onlybe using one at a time.

Matt your pioneer deck should have rear RCA in's, through the main menu you can activate these inputs. that will deliver your sound from porn provider to stereo for porntastic audio while you drive.
Just think of the worrying looks when you stop at lights with the porn cranked. Down with Doof Doof!

Just think of the worrying looks when you stop at lights with the porn cranked. Down with Doof Doof! No. Typically, RCA's on the headunits are outputs, not inputs. When I had my EF, I ran a Pioneer DVD HU into another pioneer HU. I had to buy a seperate adapter to gain the RCA input on the HU. If you have something that has CD stacker connectivity via IP-Bus, you can get an adapter that connects to the CD stacker cable. The easiest way to tell this is to look at the model number of the unit. If there is a 'P' before the numbers, it should have it. for example, my old DEH-P1Y has it my AVH-P5750DVD has it, but the DEH-3750MP that is in my pulsar does not. If not, I am sure that it can be done. What is the model number of the H/U? I am sure that we can figure something out.

The current head unit will run a stacker tooly.
From memory I believe my Pioneer actually has RCA inputs on the rear. If not it has an auxillary. Will wait until the DVD gets here and we shall figure it out!

Been looking into it and the headdeck has IP-Bus.
But after looking at that I have seen I can get an ipod adaptor to suit that so will be using the Ip-Bus for that. Wonder if I can convert either the speaker wires on the DVD unit or the RCA's to a 3.5mm headphone jack so I can use the AUX input of the system? By the way the headunit is a DEHP65BT.

After a couple of minutes of intensive research the answers have been found.
This sucker will run the iPod. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... K:MEWAX:IT It has an extra pass through port for other Ip-Bus items which this sucker http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... K:MEWAX:IT will plug into it and the DVD player will plug into that for porntastic sound quality throughthe existing headdeck. Its nearly too easy. Biggest worry now will be hoping that Randy Gheyshagger doesnt bring any of his special DVD's to watch on a Friday night!

This is the exact same setup that I had when I was running my DEH-P1Y in the EL It has since been removed, as I had no need to run the DVD unit, and the HU has been replaced with something newer. The iPod adapter will run an iPod, I dont think it will work with your iPhone (from everything I read online ages ago, it was not compatible with iPhones). As my unit was a fairly old one, the ability to control the ipod was fairly basic. Yours is a newer headunit, you should be able to control a bit more with the module than I was. I can LOAN you the adapter and module, to see if it is worth spending your $$$, if you would like. One thing to note is that the RCA adapter should be connected to a non-fading RCA output on the DVD unit. The other thing is that there will be distortion if the DVD unit is at a higher volume. When it is all installed, you will only be able to adjust the volume on the pioneer HU, leave the DVD player's volume alone

If you could LOAN me the adaptor my tool bearing friend it would be awesome.
It should only take a few minutes of playing around to see if it is going to work. It is starting to all sound a bit tackanogical. All I wanted to do was watch porn in the truck!

It is starting to all sound a bit tackanogical. All I wanted to do was watch porn in the truck! It wont be that hard. It may be a bit tricky to set up, but once that has happened, it will be simple. To use the iPod adapter, it is just connect the bus cable to the HU, and also to power and earth. As your H/U is a late model, it should recognise it as an iPod adapter. Otherwise it will recognise it as 'external' (which is what mine does). once that is installed, it is simply a matter of connecting the AUX adapter to the back of it, and enabling the feature on the HU (it should be where in the same setup menu where you set your clock) for the sake of watching porn while you are away from home, I am sure that we can make it work EDIT... the specs of your head unit say that it has the REAR aux input. I assume that it is a 3.5mm plug. Places like jaycar and DSE will sell a cable that will go from the 2 RCA to a stereo 3.5mm plug. This may be another way of connecting the 2 headunits together. If the first way does not work, there is a strong chance that this way will. If I am correct, this is the plug that you would need. either way, I will go through all my old audio gear, and should be able to bring the modules to livo on Friday. I just need to de-solder it from my old loom first.

Well I havent updated this thread lately as I just havent had time.
New suspension is fitted. DVD player is fitted. Donna bought me a new Ipod compatible headdeck so that is fitted as well. Water temp , oil pressure and twin volts guages I got for christmas off Don are fitted. New battery cradle has been built and fitted to allow the optima yellow top secondary battery to go back under the bonnet. Currently working on 4" mandrel bent snorkel. Airbox design has been a couple of fails so have ordered some new bits and will build a new one again next week when they rock up. Poor old truck is really starting to looklike s**t body wise. It has got real bad. Time and funds are tight at the moment so hopefully sometime over the next month it will get a satin black paint job to just tidy it up for 12 months while I do the rest of the work to it. Just have to wait for the humidity to drop off and find time! Good news is the aircon gets fixed on Monday or Tuesday! Lookng forward to having icy cold air again! Better get around to organising some pics hey..............
