Aftermarket stand alone 5.0 EFI harness!
So no more old and ratty chopped , raped and butchered (oops I mean modified) E series harness to contend with!
I now have the capapcity to get fault codes out , have the EGR eliminated properly , do the timing etc.
Best bit is it might actually be neat now!
Not too bad for $670 AUS delivered to my door.
Harness looks to be a quality bit of kit. Has built in engine fault light and everywire actually has printed on it what it does so no need to go chasing it back all the way to the ecu to trace stuff out.
Very happy I is.
So the old girl will be off the road for a few days getting some wiring done!

Thats it Ash. At the end of the day you cant really put a price on reliability.
The truck has f**k out once on a trip and come home on a tow truck due to a wiring fault in the harness and I have had a couple of little fiddly ones to sort out. Hopefully this will be the cure.
Now I can say that the Mav isnt actually powered by an E series conversion......................I think I can now claim its all mustang!

A stack of wiring was ripped out today and started getting everything ready to fit the new loom tomorrow.
When doing this I found the air conditioning is leaking gas again........................f**k me how many times does this C*** auto electrician have to do it to get it right!
He better not f**k charge me a cent this time around....................

Stupid truck.
Progressinga long well with the wiring but slowly. Each time I work on it I find something that could be done better and/or neater so do it that way and spend more time on it. Oh well it will be done properly this time.
ECU is heading off to be sorted out this week sometime.
Have a couple of things I have to have done to the XR within the next week. They are must do's no options!
Will be fun but..............

Daz.
Believe me I know I have been a slacker on that and I do feel very very bad about it.
Is over Easter sometime cool for me to come over? It will be a mission to carry it but it has to be done! You will see whay its suck a mission when I get there.

XR8. Had the high flow cats from the Fairlane fitted to it. Goes a LOT better now and actually sounds like a real V8. Had it done before Donnas last day at work so she could rock up and make some noise. Was meant to have the stereo fitted before then but I dont think anyone would of been interested in listening to the stereo instead of watching what she did leaving. Lets just say I am very proud of my girl!

Mav. Still chugging away. Hope to put big dent in the work required over the next couple of days. Sorting out new camper trailer top , selling and delivering old one etc has somewhat chewed into my time to work on it. The rain doesnt help neither.

Wags. Its due for rego so took it for a check this morning. Was actually pretty good. Failed on not having any LPG badges on the plates and a stuffed real axle seal. Diff has whined like the ex missus since we bought it so its time for a new diff. Need one in a hurry so went to Pick and Scab at Penrith. They are getting one in that is meant to be a good one so picking it up tomorrow. Thats a this weekend job.
While in there I saw a steering wheel on the shelf behind the guy who runs the show. Asked him how much for it and his reply was "Im sick of looking at it , give me $100 and its yours."
Well I couldnt get my wallet out quick enough. $100 for a Timber and Leather AU MOMO is pretty good in my eyes. Had the thought of cleaning it up and putting it on eBay to make a few bucks , but once Donna saw it she decided it was going onto the wags.

Nice pickup on the steering wheel there Matt.

And the Wags deserves a bit of love, really.

Cheers

Yeah it actually does deserve a bit of love Ben.
I actually cant fault the old heap of s**t.
Just need to get a few things done to it and I think it will be hanging around for quite some time.
By the way. Damn you BenJ. Was at Blacktown getting a few bits the other weekend and had a look for the Fairmont wagon you told me about.
Yep the back seat come home with me.............. The top of the material is pretty s**t so I dropped it and the sedan rear seat I got from Jake off to my long suffering mate the trimmer and he is swapping the materials across sometime over the next week for me. For what he charges me I cant be rooted doing it myself.
Nope the wags was just going to be a hack , not another project car wasnt it............................................................................

My pleasure to be of assistance to the Wags.

Be careful, as Wagons grow on you, and then you never want to let them go.

I have had many a wagon before.
One of the reasons why I wanted one this time around.
Still doesnt compare to the 351 wagons I am used too.

Well talk about coming full circle!
First a little history lesson. Quite a few years ago me and Donna owned a Navy Blue 1998 EL Fairmont. I purchased it not long after me and Donna become a couple after me and the ex split up.
It was the first thing I was able to buy on my own after having been a bankrupt in the past due to some stupid decisions and was the first major purchase me and Donna made as a couple.
Well over time it copped all of the standard things like some nice mags , lowered , XR steering wheel , exhaust etc. It also got the EVL098 plates that I am known as on here by.
Then our priorities in life changed , I had my Maverick and Donna wanted to join in the off road fun and bought herself a 4 runner. In a feeble attempt to be a mature person I sold the Fairmont on and regretted it about 20 seconds after it left the driveway.
We used to see it getting around the local area and it had gone downhill somewhat and it always broke our heart to see it.
Well a few weeks ago it come up for sale again on AFF. It is a shadow of its former self but has been fitted with an EL XR front which looked to be in really good condition. The guy who bought it off us wanted $3k for it.
Well I wasnt in a position to or prepared to buy it back but kept an eye on it.
Tonight it come back up at $1400ono. I sent a text message and me and Donna were going out to purchase a car at 11.30PM! Got it for $1200!

Originally I decided to buy it solely to strip the front off it as a spare for the XR8 and a few other juicy bits and planned to throw some bits back on it and off load it and get a cheap XR front as a spare in case the unthinkable happens.
Well when I was bringing it home I got up it a few times and found that it still went pretty damn hard. Leaving the servo I had a bit of fun in it and lets just say the smell of melting 17's is very fine!!!! At this point I was falling back in love but was still determined to use my head instead of my heart and go with the original plan.
Another bit of history needs to come into the mix here.
On mine and Donnas first date Donna bought me a Zippo for the West Tigers 2005 Premiership win. At some stage I lost it and after much searching I was shattered but accepted the fact that it was gone.
Well once I pulled up back at home Donna wanted a look inside the EVL to see if it still looked the same. She opened the glovebox and you would never guess it but found my f**k lighter!!!!! It was sitting inside the f**k glovebox after 3 years and a new owner!!!!!!
At this point after watching me drive home in it with a big grin on my face and my lighter turning back up Donna decided in a hurry the lighter was an omen that the car is meant to be with me and it is staying. I have to admit that I did actually get a bit emotional at this point and a few tears were shed. This car has a LOT of sentimental value to me and it still hasnt sunk in yet that she has come home.
So now the wags will be getting sent to a new home , the EVL bought back to its old self (including changing back to a Fairmont front) , the 5 speed being fitted and some fun had!
What she used to be.

What she is now. Honey Im home!
