But for an EL Fairmont nowdays its not too bad. The bootlid is stuffed (all the clear has come off and rust come through) , its got some cancer come through in the sills and its just generally run down. Its regisitered till late October so plenty of time to get stuff fixed. Interior is still pretty damn good and it still pulls like a train. Still have to go over and pick up the original bonnet for the car , grab some new front lights and a bar and put the Fairmont front end back on. Then the rest can be sorted out.

Matt, I know someone who is somewhat desprate for an EL XR front end. ifyou could find it in your heart to help.
lol. I understand this one is for the parts shelf though. wanna part with the lights and brackets? down the track?

Sorry Dave but the only way I'll be giving up any of this xr front will be if and when the white car gets sold or if I was offered a LOT of money for it.
My heart is somewhat cold when it comes to XR fronts. Lol.

You actually sold your front for $300 more then I paid for the entire car! Don't know what will happen yet. There is debate on if it's too far gone to be a worthwhile return to glory or just to take the good gear off it and put it out the front of the local centerlink with a for sale sign on it. Either way the XR front is coming off!

Wow I remember reading through this thread a fair while ago..
Can't really say I like the Patrols/Mavericks but yours is probably one of the better wagons around. I have to say it though, why not sell it and get a Ford F-truck?  They look a lot better and are a proper size 'truck'. I'm not sure what a 4x4 F150 would go for in your area though..

Cheers Lukey. Im pretty fond of my piece of s**t as well.
Nope no F truck for me. I have been offroad in the best type of F trucks...........someone elses! My brother and old man both had Bronco's and they are too big and bulky off road. I sometimes curse the size and turning circle of the Mav on a tight track , an effy would be much worse. Plus I cant afford the bill when you break one! In other news from the western front I had a good poke around the Fairmont this morning and its issues are nowhere near as bad as they first seemed and are quite fixable. So it has been decided the Fairmont is going to hang around and get the 5 speed conversion and be switched back to a Fairmont front and the wagon is going. So I will have a list of items up for grabs including. Gun metal grey XR bonnet. Gunmental Grey EF XR nose cone and bar EF XR6 Manual ECU Leather and Timber MOMO steering wheel etc etc PM me if anyone is interested.

Gave the XR8 a clean up at the last minute for the Tangcla photoshot on the weekend.
Seeing as though it had done a 1600km return trip on the Pacific Highway which it rained for about 1400kms of last weekend I dont think it cleaned up too shabby at all.       Has made me realise but there is only one colour for an E series. WHITE!
