Well its been a different couple of weeks here for us.
We have been on holidays so there has been some progress on things , none on others and a lot of relaxing and having fun going on!

XR8. Took it to a mates up at Lismore for the weekend a couple of weeks back. Sat on around 120 for pretty much the whole trip with the air con on bacause it was pouring rain there and back and got 10L/100kms. Who said V8's were expensive to run? It is just an awesome open road car that took everything we threw at it without complaint. Got out of it after 7 hours at the wheel feeling great. All in all it aint the fastest thing around but it is an awesome piece of machinery.
On the way back at Taree it develloped a minor knock in the front end on cornering and hitting bumps in the road. Took it down to wholesale suspension after the easter break for a look see (I do everything myslef but get it looked at by the pros every 12 months incase I miss something) and we found the knock is a lower balljoint on the way out. So I have to drop a set of stubbs sown and get new balljoints fitted. No point just doing one while its apart , will get the lot done. The bilsteins and big swaybars will finally get fitted then and I will be changing the front discs back over to hopefully fix an interesting ABS issue we have been having. So this weekend coming is booked!

The Fairmont. Decided it is too far gone for my liking and it will be too much work and money to bring it back to what it was and what I want and then I will be a princess about it again. So the good gear has started coming off that and it will be moving on hopefully in the next couple of weeks. Im sick of looking at it.

Its dinner time so I shall update more once the pig has been fed!

The wagon. Well that one will be hanging around now. Have been driving it a lot and apart from its glorious lack of power I cant really fault it.
The Speedy Longchamps have come off the Fairmont had the wagons tyres fitted and now live on the wags. It looks pretty good actually. I think even better then the AU rims.
So now the AU rims will be going back into storage and one of them back into the XR8 as a matching 17" spare.
Took it to visit Ash the other day in the middle of nowhere and left there having signed up on a ripper deal for an AU XR6 HP motor. Will head back up to help take it out and pick it up in the not too distant future when we both have time.
So that will with the good assistance of SWC and the usual Sydney a*** be fitted to the wags backed up by the 5 speed conversion that dc-todd has given me a lot of help sorting out.
To everyone who has help me it is really appreciated and you all know when its time to return the favour where the phone is.
Well also sitting in my pile of s**t...............oops I mean valuable parts there is an EF XR bonnet and nose cone. SWC planted and evil seed in my brain about using the worst bits of the two and a half XR kits I have sitting around here and putting an XR front on the wags. Well I reckon that sounds like a good idea so we will run with that. Seeing as though its a daily driver and I dont really like EF kits that much the nose will be modified to take standard blinkers and I will just drill a hole in the rear of an aftermarket set to take a parking light.
Also as a part of the deal I did when I got the Fairmont back I scored a few spares I had to go and pick up. I did that last night and got a pair of Front EL XR8 seats in very good condition (only a couple of very minor repairs required) and the matching rear seat base. Will drop them down to the trimmer in the morning to have them fixed and into the wags they go mmmmmmmmmmnn bolstered seat goodness! Hopefully he can get matching material to redo the top of the rear wagon seat to match.

The Mav got itself a straight bonnet. Cheers Daz!

Wow, you have been busy! Sounds like some fun coming up, and it also sounds like the Xr8 run really well too. I admit I will be expecting about 10/100 on trips from my xr8 when it's on the road, and probably about 15/100 around town like my Ghia, I can get better but that is no fun.....

Cheers

Yeah thats pretty much what we get out of it.
Will be interesting to see how much it changes when we fit the explorer up to it when it gets over to us from across the ditch.
Looking forward to sorting out the front of the XR and doing the bilsteins actually. Besides knowing how much better it will handle the wagon will then get lowered straight after.
Yep busy times ahead!

Run Gordon its the policeman........................
Image

Full Abbo spec now and sitting waiting eagerly for its new owner to pick it up.
I decided that I just dont have the time with everything else on the go and I cant justify the money with all my other projects to keep the old girl and rebuild her to what I would want.
So its best if we both move on. The buyer is a member on here and I will leave it up to them to let on who they are if they wish too.
It seems as though it will be going to a good home and I am happy that it will be going somewhere that it will have the care and attention it deserves given to her and it will again be the nice car it once was.
BIG thanks to SWC and a total tool for helping me out with some bits required to get it back to where it is now.
It does upset me to get rid of it again but brain has to over rule heart on this one.
So it seems now that this matter of unfinished business between both me and the EVL is just about finished.
Farewell my old friend.

Nope Rossco they will be going with the car.
Time to make a clean break from it for once and for all but somehow I reckon this car will haunt me till the day I die.
The soon to be new owner asked if the plates were staying on th ecar or if I was keeping them so I think they might want them.
We dont ahve any other 98 model vehicles to put them on anyway.

Oh well the EVL left the building for the last time on Friday night.
Was happy to get it back and sad and happy to let her go again.
But she has passed on some good bits to both the XR and the wags so there is a little bit of her still here.
Wags got the dark smoked slimline weathershields fitted to it (f**k Im getting old) and I finally got around to finishing off the Fairmont seat install. Needs a good steam clean but looks great.
The XR will get some attention this week. The Bilsteins will finally get fitted , change the front rotors and bearings and there is a little nice box coming over from NZ for it.
Time to give the girl a bit of go.
Hopefully get this all sorted out and away very soon so I can concentrate on the Mav again.

It is certainly cheap.
Seeing what our dollar changes into when converted to NZ at the moment is a laugh!

Instead of getting the s**t with the amount of work I have to get done and walking off I have cracked back into things and am getting stuff done.
A pair of spare front uprights are currently down at wholesale suspension getting cleaned up and painted and new balljoints fitted for the XR and the Bilsteins and sway bars are all removed from the lane and sitting with the XR ready for install tomorrow afternoon.
Will definately get the back done and I hope to start on the front. I have to get it all back together ASAP as it is booked in for a wheel alignment 8.30am on Saturday...........................
