Rear was done this afternoon.
Changed the rear sway bar , fitted the Billsteins and fitted new link pin bushes while I had it apart. From all accounts the rear feels very stiff now. Will find out what its like once the front is done tomorrow.

Just a little bit bigger then the standard XR8 one. I really wanted to sandblast and repaint the bars before they went on but we want the car for the weekend so am running out of time. They can be taken back off anyway.

Clean Bilstein goodness.

Oh and this and a couple of boxes of associated bits and pieces turned up on the mail truck today................

Did it all arrive safe and well Matt? Those posties seem to make it the aim of their day to see how much damage they can do to peoples parcels.

That's good. I'm assuming the little pieces wrapped up in paper were found and not tossed in the bin. I think it was only the IAT sensor that was wrapped up but my memory fails me!

Mah nothing has made the bin yet mate. I put it all back in the boxes and stored it in the spare room.
Makes it easier when I go out to put it all on!

Good call. Do you guys have the phoenolic spacer available for an explorer? Every little bit helps powerwise. Expect a call next week!

Am most of the way through changing the front of the XR over. Have been held up as I was sick as for a couple of days and this morning while working away I found the sway bar link pins were starting to rust , so might as well get new ones tomorrow and finish it off then. No point putting old questionable stuff back in when most of the rest is now new.

Didnt get anything done this afternoon as we had to go look at a vehicle.
Have been thinking in the past week or so that lately I have set the bar WAY too high in the amount of projects I have taken on. Talking to Donna about it and we decided that if we could find a manual Falcon that did what we wanted it to do for the right price and in good condition that we would seriously look at getting it and moving the wagon on so I could finish the camp trailer and the Mav properly instead of just doing patch ups all the time.
Well Donna expressed interest in a ute. She figured that a ute would allow her to pick up stuff when I wasnt around to move trailers etc. This week was a case in point. We had a quick cold snap and had no firewood and I couldnt go with the trailer as I was glued to the toilet for a couple of days. Donna said if we had a ute she would of just gone to the firewood place herself and got it and also a huge driving point to the idea was Donna knows how much I regretted selling my old white XF ute a couple of years ago.
So looking through car sales we found a white XH 5 speed. Looked at it and picked it up this afternoon.

The basics are good , its just the s**t that kills it. 4.0 5 speed , extractors and sports exhaust. Aircon is ice cold and it drives really well. The 5 poster and roll bar are leaving very very soon...............

Wow Matt...

Those blue anodised rolls bars are real sexy man... :P

haha...

looks like a good buy... Wouldn't think a XH manual in good nic for the right money would be real common either... So this seems like a lucky find... Should be a good reliable thing anyway... Esp once you've given it the old once over and fixed any potential problems awaiting to cause you grief...

Cheers,
Tim

Yeah Tim it is definately erection inducing aint it!
The roll bar and 5 poster are going on eBay in the next couple of days. I have a spare EF XR front here that needs a repair and I can see it getting apinted white and making its way onto the ute.
It will be getting lowered and the wheels off the wagon and the momo being put on it asap.
Paid $2500 for it with 4 months rego so for an XH manual it was a pretty good price. Needs a good clean up and the bushes in the clutch pedal changed but that seems to be about it.
Will also be working out which is the better pair of EL XR seats we have out of the 2 sets we own and will be putting them into the XR8 and the second best set will be going into the ute.

I thought of ewe straight away Phill when I saw the roll bar. You could tie a whole flock up along it.
Yeah Ash I do miss my old ute. Was so handy and f**k fun!
Im hoping I get some good bucks for the cowboy stuff as well. I had a look on flea bay and saw 2 x5 posters at $1200 and $1000 each. Scary part was both of them had bids!
