One more job off the list.
The wagon went to its new home today.
Turned out being a somewhat pain in the a*** of a deal but at the end of the day (as long as it was) it is now gone , we got the money we wanted for it and things can move on. Best bit is I can stop parking on the front lawn now!
Gave the XR8 a very very quick scrub up in the late afternoon for tomorrows dyno day and will finish it off in the morning before leaving.
Its been a looooong day.

Im sort of shocked and disgraced at myself for doing this but after a fair bit of research and thinking the ute is going to go onto the BBQ bottle.
Got onto a place that it will only cost us $600 out of pocket after the rebate to have it done. That is for a brand new Impco under bonnet kit and processor and what they call a reco tank. Got me f**k how a new valve and test date makes a tank reco but thats how it is done.
It is being done by dodgy Jihad installations or something at Granville but LPG is easy enough to work out so I can fix it when they f**k it all up. Who knows they might just shock me and go a good job that doesnt need fixing. Seriously doubt that but. I just wont light a smoke on the way home until I have checked it out...............
It goes in Tuesday so I will be able to get the paperwork back in to the rocker office before 31st June when the ranga cuts back the rebate and limits it to 25000 cars a year.
Its getting it for a couple of reasons. With Donna now having a 60km round trip for work everyday it wont take a huge amount of time to save back the $600 out of pocket expence. Then in the future when I decide to look at getting some power out of it the whole emissions thing is null and void if I just run straight gas.
Also if some actual money gets spent on it , well shame will force me to keep it instead of getting rid of it in 6 months time.........................

If you plan to do a BBM conversion, and IMO it's mandatory on the XH's, you can mount the Impco 225 mixer like BenJ has. It flows much better than the 200M mixer which is std fitment to the BBM engines.

A retested tank is a lot cheaper than a brand newie - both have 10 yrs test date, so that's all you care about.

Im starting to think along the lines of doing a BBM for the ute.
Does the tensioner and stuff need to be changed on an XH or will I get away with the standard one snap?
The issue will be getting an EL manual ECU................
Your right I really dont care about the tank. Fingers crossed they fit an APA one but.

Dodgy Jihad conversion lol! Funny. At least you can fix it once it's installed & "complied". Seems like a good idea to go the bbq fuel on the ute. Won't take all that long to make back $600.

I dunno if I'd go a BBM conversion.....

Cheers

Why do you need a manual ECU? fool the auto one. I had no issues with the fooled auto ECU that I ran in the Ghia (I didn't want to lose the SPSS). I still have the ECU and the looms somwhere, if you are interested

You could also run a J3 chip in the ECU with a manual program on it.

Cheers

Thats it mate.
I am looking into ways to see what can be done performance wise.
As the FE LTD at CMS showed rocket fuel is most definately possible. The car is known for 400 odd KW and 10 sec passes in a ft a*** LTD on straight BBQ fuel!

Well worth doing - should be able to pick up a setup for next to nix nowadays.
{USERNAME} wrote:

Nah, XH setup is fine - you can fit an EF/EL tensioner and remount the A/C comp to the block and run the EF/EL belt. Much of muchness really - the only advantage is EF/EL belts are usually in stock in auto places, I find usually you need to order in the XH ones - EF/EL 6PK2370, XH 6PK2405.
{USERNAME} wrote:

They're usually APA, only others I've seen are Manchesters. Be interesting how good the job is on removing the spare wheel winder - might be a habibi gas axe job  .

Yeah, agree with this - I've been running an EL LPG ECU in mine for years, runs great. I have recently installed an XR cam and fuel reg, running the EL ghia ECU as well, mainly also to run SSPS as well eventually.

I think ToranaGuy will agree, after running LPG vapour injection, you won't want to go back to a mixer setup.

Cheers Snap. I checked today and it will be an APA tank so thats a bonus.
The spare wheel winder will be removed by yours truly before it goes down there. I was going to remove it myself so it doesnt go walk about. Handy things to have.
We had the LPG injection on the missus's old V6 4 runner. Your right the mixer is total s**t compared to the injection but I still dunno what lies in the future for the ute power wise so the quick and easy setup will do fine at the moment.

Well, that's all you need at this time - the way we're getting raped with the cost of living, it's heartening to fill the tank and still have something left to spend.
I can't remember the last time I filled the petrol tanks to full, only really bought enough to regularly run the petrol side to maintain it.
