Not much to report at all.
Chucked the Fairmont dash cluster in and fitted some hectic dial faces and even more hectic blue LEDs to the ute. Also put a decent headdeck in it that I had kicking around. Tracked down and fitted a flip down rear number plate holder and cut the bar away behind it for the LPG filler. Also got the spare wheel winch out. Just have to cut away some steel work now and throw a coat of paint on it so at least then I know its done sort of properly. Now just looking into some bits for a future change and deciding which way to go so I can start collecting parts.

Ill have to get around to getting a pic. Thank god but for people with poor taste. The pretty blue roll bar just sold on fleabay for $155. So all up a return of $860 odd dollars for stuff that was removed because it was just plain ugly. Gotta be happy with getting over a third of the cars purchase price back selling the junk that was on it!

Well as requested by Ford Fairmont here is a picture of the dash dials he sent down installed.
I actually put the resistor in so the lighst work correctly and put some blue LED's in I got off a member here ages ago. Need to find some better ones as they dont spread the light around very well and the cluster is blotchy. Meh one day. The ute got dropped off this morning to have the LPG installed so I will find out tomorrow afternoon how much the job gets f**k up by. I showed old matey where I wanted the filler behind the rear number plate and made it clear to him about 5 times I wanted no holes cut in the rear quarters whatsoever. Hopefully he gets it right. So tomorrow there are 3 options of what could happen. 1. I might be wrapped with the workmanship and the car will run great. 2. I will be majorly p****d off that he has rooted the car and I will need to fix it all if possible and it will run like a bag of s**t. 3. I will be killed and cremated in one fast step on the side of the M4 when the LPG system explodes. Options 2 and 3 seem to be the likely ones. Wanted to get stuck into the Mav today but the constant rain stopped me. Need a garage.

My panel filler is in the rear bumper between the no plate and the towbar - is handy as you can position either side of a bowser. This is good as usually you get to a bowser and there's a cabbi filling up like someone's paying the fare for waiting, or some f*ckhead's parked at that bowser, and inside the servo window shopping. Yeah, can rule out option 1 me thinks.

you noticed it as well, they have the units in a great spot, mainly in the middle.

Currently waiting at the place for them to finish off the car. So far so good. At least they put the gas filler in the right spot. The guy doing it is a bit upset that I wanted an impco system because he reckons they are heaps harder to install. With the quick peek I snuck under the bonnet as they were working on it it seems to look ok. I'm sure a big bit of dodgyness will show it's head soon enough but.

At the new servo across the road from us the LPG is at the front bowser along with the petrol! never seen it in the one bowser! unfortunately this means petrol users get in the f***in' way now too!

Just got home with it.
All I have to say is.............................not much actually. Im happy. They didnt get a chance to change the plugs over so he gave them to me to change myself. Will do the leads , cap and rotor at the same time. The a***-o-meter doesnt pick up and great loss of power etc. Have to take it back in a week or so for a check check over and an adjustment and need to get the tailpipe redone to route around the gas tank. Currently it is dumped at the diff. He gave me some steel to make an extra heatshield when the exhaust is done along with the tek screws to fit it and a new tek driver. Also gave me a couple of extra stickers for when I change the number plates over. The installation actually seems to be pretty good. I had a look when it was on the hoist and they painted where they cut the old spare wheel brackets off , the tank and guard is all freshly painted and you cant pick it from new. All the underbonnet gear is brand new. The location of the relays and controller under the bonnet isnt great but I am picky but he photocopied all the wiring diagrams and relay locations etc so I can change it around to suit myself. The only thing I can pick is one of my pet hates. They didnt use any form of protection covers over the guards when they were working on it. I got a couple of scratches in the tops of the guards that will polish out and there anr quite a few greasy handprints on the car. I cannot make a comment one way or the other because they may have well washed it and cleaned it up if I wasnt standing there waiting for them to finish to take the car. Also it was pretty obvious they only started on it today when I dropped it off yesterday morning. I have been stuffed around and had cars returned in worse condition when I have spent a lot more money so I actually dont have any complaints. For a place that did the job for $1000-$1500 LESS then anywhere else I have to say I am very happy and would actually recommend them to others at this stage. Off to centrelink tomorrow to claim myself some moneies back!

Put in the forms today to get some cash off the big red headed clown.
Hopefully once the EF XR front comes home from being painted I can fit it up , change the front brake rotors and close the book on the ute for a little bit. The best news is this afternoon the rain f**k off for long enough to get some work done on the Mav! Got most of the engine bay harness finished off , all the guages etc and working again and the wiring is neat and tidy and I actually got to turn it over off the key for the first time in what seems like ages. Refitted the upper manifold and started sorting out the new inlet piping. Then decided while looking at it that once I get it up and running and sent the ECU off to WA to be tuned that I will quickly strip out the engine bay , clean it up and given it a freash coat of paint. It wont be show winning but will be a millions times better then what it is currently. Hoping to have a big push on it this weekend. Want to get it to fire up next week if possible.

The Maverick lives again! Well it runs anyway.
Had a bit of an issue with it and all I have to say is MSD coils sucks balls. Couldnt get it to fire yesterday and after doing some tests and using the TFI and PIP tester I got from Tim I found that there was no spark. It looked as though it wasnt getting a crank signal so I took a closer look this morning and it was fine and getting all the correct signals. Used the HEI test plug and definately no spark and every test using the test gear was leaning towards a bum coil. Popped down the street and bought a standard aftermarket replacement coil and as I swapped it over I found the problem. The positive supply terminal on the coil decided that cracking out of the housing was a good idea. Fitted the new coil and it fired up straight away! At least my wiring is correct! After having a MSD coil fail and leave me stranded in Melbourne last year and this one failing MSD has done its dash with me. I went down the street and ordered another standard replacement coil and it will be going into the XR on Monday when it comes in. The MSD s**t is going in the bin before that one lets go. The next part is all the tool boys fault and he will be blamed forever. Last night he made me aware that these were still available. A pair of polished stainless manifolds with T3 flanges on them. For the price I couldnt say no and they will turn up next week sometime. It will be a long term project which I have to find out about engineering it first etc and then see if its all going to fit but I reckon it will be fun. Im actually thinking about doing some pipework around to the front of the motor and mounting something similar to a Borg Warner S400 in there It could be too big for what I am after so it will be a huge learning curve for me to get it up and happening. Looking forward to it but.
