Ok hasnt there been some insanity around here lately.
Had things lined up to happen to the vehicles and ended up moving house instead. So after all the rooting around packing up , moving and unpacking , then I had to find where all my s**t was.
By the time I got that all sorted out I just couldnt be bothered playing cars for a bit.

Ok the Mav is currently getting played around with on the tuning side of things. Sam12H has helped me out heaps in that regard so its just a case o time , trial and error until it is all sorted 100%.
I quit the smokes. Will be 3 weeks tomorrow since I had one so am happy with that. Had some fuel issues when we first moved. Ended up I picked up a bad lot of fuel and it needs a couple of new filters.
This is what come out of the high pressure filter when backflushed.............

Image

The XR has been put back into active daily duty at the moment as I sold the wagon and wanted to do some stuff to the ute. There is still a new freshly painted XR front sitting in the lounge room to fit to it but finding the time when the car is available and the weather is on my side sounds easier then it is.

The ute. Well that has been getting some stuff done to it. Fitted up the EF XR front that I had after SWC very generously repaired it for us and arranged it to be painted. Big improvement.
Well then unfortunately dc_Todds green pig led an untimely and early demise. I remembered him and I talking only a couple of weeks before the event about him getting new tyres for it and then remembered that he actually did get them.
Well in true Ford Mods volture tradition I hit him up about what was happening to them as I needed some new rubber for the ute.
Reply was they were coming off the car and being sold. So I ended up with a set of 18" Typhoon twists with 500km old Falken rubber for a very very keen price. Popped over and fitted them up and decided when I got home that they needed something else. Well I remembered that I had bought a couple of sets of Rimskinz from a recent AFF group buy and that I had a red set there.

Looks pretty sexy all in all.

Well seeing as though the outside looked good now I remembered I had the AU centre console I grabbed off Troyman some time ago cluttering up the Mav. I got it out , made a couple of mods and fitted it up to the XH. I still need to get a proper AU leather gearboot but we now have cupholders!!!

Image
Then I got really silly and decided I would actually clean the ute windows and all. Its coming along pretty well from what it used to be.
Well I was also looking down the path of turboing the ute (yeah its the daily hack........ ) but finding an engineer at the moment who is willing to sign one off is a bit of a task.
Was having a quick flick through online and found this for sale.

Yep a genuine EL XR8 in Navy Blue with only 182000kms. Its been out of rego for a bit and could use a respray so Im trailering it back tomorrow. Pretty happy with it for a $1500 purchase.
Not 100% certain what its fate will be yet. Have a couple of ideas I need to run past the minister before making a decision.
Ill never learn................

Cheers guys.
Im tipping there is an odds on chance that the EL will be sacrificed to make the XH 5.0 motorvated and the XR parts will go a long way to paying for itself.
It isnt a bad car but the paint is pretty well axed and it has fairly rusty sills.
I shall work a game plan out tomorrow when I get it home and can have a scratch around.
Then I shall let it be know when I am ready to start answering PM's requesting parts off it.

Nice score on the EL mate. Looked good when I saw it, plenty of good bits to recover some costs.

By the way mate, thanks for first dibs on the panels and doors, realy appreciated :D .

Well today in an adventure of epic boganess me and dc_todd went for a drive to Dapto to free the car from its bogan custodians.
Well it was a fun adventure. The awesome driving experience that only a car trailer hired from the servo can give followed by the car not fitting on the trailer...............ended up having to pull the side skirts off the car to get it to fit and then it would only clear by about 5mm each side.
Finally got it all loaded up and strapped down to find when we pulled over 15k up to road to check the straps etc that the wheel bearing on the trailer had got slightly warm and was putting on quite a smoke show. f**k it its a hire trailer so it was dragged back home via SWC's place hoping that the wheel stayed attached. Bearing started to sieze at Luddenham so I called the servo I hired it from who told me they didnt know what to do so I just kept on dragging it.
Anyways its all home now and the verdict is that I will be pulling it down. Its a shame to strip a genuine XR8 especially a Navy blue one but I just dont have the time to fix rust etc and spend money to end up with a vehicle the same as the one we already have.
Heres what it actually looks like.

The venom front bar will be repaired by SWC and apinted then fitted to the ute.
The complete EL Genuine plastic/rubber lip kit will be sold including the shark tooth rear spoiler. There is also a front lip for a standard bar to go with it which is genuine. Any bits you want off it PM me and we will work out a price.

Nah no bribing happened and I washed it myself. Had to get the dust and cobwebs off it. I only washed it to have a look at it clean to work out 100% what I was going to do with it.
Strip it it is.

Scrubbed up ok, those rims are horrendous, possibly one of the worst aftermarket rims I have ever seen, I would have the EL XR non option rims before I would but these melted down vietnamesse pots anywhere near a car I owned. Wonder if anyone will buy them after that comment.

I'll bring that front lip on friday ok?

Is it just me or are Hans posts getting more and more random? I can sort of make out what he is saying but it just sounds like jibberish as first, second and third read. Perhaps its time to get back on the meds.
