I will even be selling off my pile of E series and XR8 spares! If anyone is interested in a very very clean EL XR8 that we have been very anal about PM me for info of what it is and what it has. I know what ya mean. When my car went into a garage and fence which wasnt opened, i knew then and there that i was happy to be alive and knew my car was a write off and that i wont be going back to a E-Series. They have served me well, ED Falcon Futura (still love that car, first car and wish i didnt sell it ) and EL XR6 but alas for me i went the holden route as wanted a full change. For me, has been a learning curve and its something fresh but damn i wish i had that ED falcon back as a project car Same here. Yes we have had some awesome E series Falcons and some real nuggets. Even the nuggets were s**t with good features. But we have had a stack of them and its time to move on. I used to miss my old AU1 5.0 Fairmont that I had about a million years ago (paid $25k for it thats how long ago it was ) but I had started to get over it. Then I was taken for a drive and given a steer in a certain silver TE50 which reignited my AU fire. I got the ute then when Don started running around in that and seeing Narelles Fairmont and Daves TE she started to feel the burn too. if my car wasnt already turbo'd and hadnt had a fair amount spent on it, i to would be rolling in an au... as unpopular as the au's were i would still take an au oner a ba anyday... |

Thats it Troy. Its really hard to think the XR will be going after all the money and time spent on it.
But alas we move on in life. We did look at the B series but they were just too narrow in the seating position with the big console and dash for the pair of us to be really comfortable. Same as the FG I drove back from Melbourne. Really nice beautiful car to drive but very narrow in the seating position. Well it wasnt raining this evening when I went up to the shops so managed to get a quick happy snap of the new ride. First thing fitted............LOL Have a new stereo I have to fit to it and its going off to Wholesale Suspension tomorrow for an alignment and quick health check. Then once the XR is sold it will at some time get an exhaust so it sounds like a V8 instead of a vacuum cleaner and possibly some wheels if Donna can find something she likes. In the long term a set of extractors and cats , a set of Konis or Bilsteins when its up for shocks and some slotted and dimpled rotors when the ones on it now are stuffed. There wont be a hell of a lot done to this one as to be honest it really doesnt need it. The AU 5.0 is really a lot of car for the peanuts you pick them up for now.

This is the ute after window tint and with the 19's sitting beside it at my mates house.
Obviously they are now fitted. Will get pics of it and the new interior once I get time to wash it and make it look less like it has been used for a couple of weeks as the runaround. Have been working on the Mav too sorting out a few bugs so will do a write up on that when I get a sec. At least now with having 2 cars here that really dont need much but general maintenance I can get stuck back into concentrating on finishing the Mav and camp trailer this year instead of putting it off.

What she wants done will be done when she wants it done. My ute will be getting bits upgraded and changed as s**t breaks but to be honest at the moment I just want it as a fun yet reliable get to work mobile. I have more pressing stuff to have done to the Mav that I want done instead of putting it off. Its bad enough thsi year may be the 3rd AFD it misses out on due to not being finished.

The Mav needs body work and paint bad , fit a new cam and the roller rockers , get an on board air system happening again , pressurised bellhousing , sliders and about a million other things I have forgotten.

I have never heard of pressurised bellhousing, i am guessing it is to to crap away from the clutch? |

Yep the AU is like the ugly duckling.
It has grown into its looks. I reckon everyone hated them when they were new because the styling was just so out there and way more advanced then anyone was ready for. I loved the BA when it come out but to be honest they just dont do it for me nowdays. As much as I have had lots of fun in E series cars once you jump into an AU2 or better there is no denying at all that they are a much superior vehicle in pretty much every way. Today has bought along quite an amount of sadness. The XR8 which me and Donna had put much time and effort into left the driveway for the final time. This time there was someone else at the wheel................ Was very hard to watch it go off down the street and listen to it around the corner (it sounded damn sexy) but it is gone and we are officially off the E's. Parts clearance sale to happen soon and once that is finished thats it. No more E series at all and I can be quoted on that! It is somewhat fitting that the best E series we had grace our stable was the last one to leave it.

Cheers Bear!
THIS VEHICLE WILL NOT BE GETTING MODIFIED............... I dont think I even believed myself when I made that call! It is getting lowered sometime in the next few weeks.......... Ok everyone it time to cash in your old unused dole cheques , pinch your nannas milk money and dig the loose change out from behind the lounge. I am having a MASSIVE cleanout here of all our old E series stuff so come along and spend big. I want some cash to work on the Maverick. Click on the link in my signature.
