NO!!! The Ghia aint going nowhere. Besides the fact that my small testicles would be chopped off by the missus if I was to sell her car I love the thing. I want to put a T3 TS50 kit on it and do some other stuff but all in due time.
Its the ute I want to get out of. Im sick of fixing s**t on it.
There are 2 things that will stop me but. 1 will be trying to find another idiot to buy it at a reasonable price and the other will be me actually being able to admit defeat and that something has got the better of me.
I drove the Mav today. f**k that thing rocks!

BF calipers. Check. Slotted and drilled rotors and pads. Check.
Eibach and lovells Superlow spring combo. Check.
Build caster correction kit during the week and pick up new front hubs and nuts on Wednesday.
Looks like it is nearly time for the Ghia to get some more brakes and less suspension height.

Ute now has stupidly loud stereo fitted.

Mav will be getting pushed back into active service very soon. Am missing driving it.

I reckon that blue thing would be a better car then the ute.
The ute hasnt f**k up now in a week and a half. Well if you dont count the clunk that has develloped in the steering as a f**k.
Just sorting a few bits and bobs out and it will be up for sale very soon. Cant wait to see the back of the piece of s**t.

Is that UGLY POS the car that looks like it has a 300C grill glued to it, last Sunday going to Steamfest I saw a AU driving the other way, the owner needs to be shot, hung and quartered. The owner can't have friends as a friend wouldn't let them do it. My wife even shook her head.

f**k I missed that, for that price I would have snapped it up, him giving me 40K I could just part it out and have enough money build something he should have built in the first place.

BACK TO THE MAVERICK!

Ok well seeing as though I have started using the Mav as a daily as well as a fun thing something come to light pretty quick.
f**k it is thirsty!!!
Also the body on the old girl had seen much better days. She has lived a hard life. Was a bit hesitant to spend a couple of k $ making everything look pretty with the fear that rust would reappear again and there wasnt sufficient time for me to do it or budget for someone else to do it to fix every single piece properly.
I threw out a couple of feelers for what I was looking for. A Maverick/GQ LWB with a very good body and LPG system. Had to be in NSW and I was only looking at spending around $1500.
I knew I was kidding myself when I set the limits but no harm in trying.
I looked at the bottom end of the market at a few and they were total pieces of s**t that were not worth even thinking about.
Then a mate from work asked me if I was still looking for one. Turns out his mate had one that was auto , had just had the head and head gasket done , pretty good body and duel fuel but was unregistered.
I said it sounded like what I was looking for but he would probably want too much for it. Was greeted with "He's after around $2k mate"
Well numbers were gotten and I called the seller up the next morning and looked at it last night.
Deal was done at $1750
Bought the old girl home on a flat bed today and gave it a wash and took it for a sneaky run around the block.
It drives awesome! Only has 223000km on it and it is a really good old truck.
So plan is to put it out the back and chop it into a twin cab ute again making the changes I wanted to do to the Mav , clean it all up and fit the body to my chassis. Get the ok and paperwork done through RMS and it will be all sweet and ready to go.
The object of this build is quality. With the Maverick the first time I tried a lot of ideas that I didnt know if they would work or not. Now I know stuff does indeed work and found the pitfalls I can concentrate on putting a large quality push into this one.

The new old girl after a quick tub to wash all the fungas and mould off it.
Image

It had been in the driveway long enough to quickly eat a Hamburger and Chips snack box (cheers Phill) and go for a lap around the block until the Newcastle connection Taxi5L started the raid under the bonnet for bits for his! :P

We have a few very full weekends coming up but will be getting into it ASAP! Looking forward to it too.

Matt, this is awesome news, I know how hard you strive for quality in what you do, and the Mav must have been kicking you in the pants, but as you said, you now know the pitfalls and I know you already have the eye for quality in what you want to achieve.

Let me know if you need any moral support while you hack into this. Moral support = someone the drink JD with and provide intermittent smart a** comments

Started to strip the back of the new truck out this arvo after work.
Managed to get into the left rear quarter panel and pop 95% of the dent in it out so thats a major bonus.
Have a few big weekends to get through yet before I can crack in to it real hard but little bits happen each day , whether it be sussing stuffed out , organising bits or picking up some tools.
Should be hopefully ordering the LPG injection kit in the next few days. Will fit that up to the white Mav while it is still on the road to nut it all out before being transferred across.

Interested in the cost, source and end result of the LPG injection on the 5L.

I had great plans to get stuck into it over the long weekend.
Saturday with the fine weather was spent getting camping gear sorted out for next weeks trip.
Then the rain come.
Managed to get a bit done today. Got a lot of the back stripped out of it , started on the rear quarter chop and pulled the LPG tank out to drop down this week to be tested and restamped.
Only a few small things but they all add up in the grand scheme of things.
