Injected gas system is in and sort of works.
It goes through all the cycles , does what it is meant to do , starts to switch to gas and then goes "stuff ya" and goes back to fuel. First time it happened was due to low gas pressure at .86 Bar. Played with a couple of fittings and changed some things and got gas pressure up to 1.65 Bar on the diagnostics. It is still doing its funky thing like it is low on pressure. Im suspecting I might of wired up the tank solenoid wrong thinking about it. I just connected to negative side to the chassis like the old carby system was long ago and run a 12V+ switch wire down and hooked it up to the LPG ECU. The ecu wiring had provision to hook both positive and negative up but I left the negative disconnected. Have noticed the solenoid isnt going thump like it did straight off a battery , its more of a mild click so Im thinking if it isnt getting a good ground through the ECU maybe just maybe the valve isnt opening far enough and there causes the low pressure problem........................ Well heres hoping that straw clutched at is the right one. Will find out tomorrow arvo..............

It lives!
Ended up that I was supplied the wrong injector cut harness and the ECU was getting the constant live 12V instead of the stepped negative injector signal. Off with the manifold again , a couple of hours of cutting and soldering we we now have a redone harness that works. The change over between petrol and gas you cannot feel. It is still untuned as I honestly dont ahve the gear or the know how to tune it so its booked in at Gentek Solutions in Wollongong on the 23rd to be sorted. It drives well even being untuned but it is dropping out and reverting back to fuel at full load and revs due to insufficient gas pressure. Whether it be in the tune or if it is just not supplying enough fuel I wont know until it has been tuned. Worst case scenario will be the fitting of a second convertor , lockoff and supply line and running the injector banks off individular dedicated convertors. Fingers crossed it doesnt come to that. If it does it wont be a major drama. Actually got around to getting some new power window switches for the ute. Its somewhat differnet having a vehicle you can put the windows up and down in as your please. Ordered a set of new shocks for the Ghia today for when I fit the new springs to make it look a bit better. Get them Monday hopefully. Tomorrows job is refit the second battery into the back of the Mav and I might even think about starting to play silly buggers on the new body.

Good to see the injected lpg working. I'll be keeping a clise eye as mine will almost certainly be on lpg once its up and running.

Matt, is there a point of contact for install advice?
I was glad when I did my few that I could call Mick - he set me straight on a lot of the setup. Those hoses do look long to me - I know with mine, 30cm was about max - too long and higher airspeeds might find it not getting full LPG charge. I got mine down to 19cm, and they need to be matched length also. The closer you can get the nozzles to the head, the better - you can see the 6 cyl BBM of mine at post1181513.html - same setup we did to BenJ's as well. Probably best location for the nozzles are near the petrol injectors - if you can split the injector blocks into 2 x 4 LPG injectors, might help with mounting. As with all of this, it takes ages trialling locations for everything, because the real estate needed with everything fitted is vastly different to a bare manifold. If I think of it, I'll ask Mick if he did source V8 kits, and where he's located components.

Ray
Yep the injector hoses are a bit long I suspect and I know the placement isnt ideal. If it can be tuned and work (even not to its best capability) at the moment I will be happy to leave it for a bit. When I do the big rebuild in the next few months I will be getting Daz to do some work for me while the body is off , so I will be having some mounts made then to fit the injectors to the rocker covers. I will also then remove the lower of the manifold and drill it to take the nozzles and blank the existing holes. I have sent the guy you and Ben got the kits off a couple of messages on fleabay in the past asking if he can arrange a V8 kit and he has never even replied thus the reason I didnt use him. Install advice is a moot point. I bought the kit from a guy in WA and was told that the advise of a technician was always just a phone call away when setting it up. He was really fast to reply to emails and calls so I had a good feeling about it all. Then he got my money and was no longer so fast to respond or as easy to get a hold of. Now he has jumped on a plane and took off to Malaysia. In that respect I am not happy. He referred me to Gene at Gentek Solutions in Wollongong who I cannot praise or thank enough. Gene is a gas fitter and has a partnership of sorts with the guy in WA. Unfortunately Gene isnt making a cent out of the kit sales. While he has helped me out heaps with stuff , obviously he has jobs that pay money to do instead of putting time into mine where he isnt getting a cracker , so the time I spend bending his ear is at a premium. Im more then happy to take it down on Monday , have him tell me what Ive f**k up and then work out a solution. Its all a big learning cuve for me and I have learnt heaps so far. I have done 100kms since it was fitted and topped the tank up this arvo. I know it is untuned and running as rich as so wasnt at all surprised when it took 34 litres. Seeing as though the Mav punches through around 26 litres of Dinosaur juice per 100km I am very happy with its consumption thus far. I have some beliefs in why it is using more gas and performance is down a bit then it really should. 1. Untuned. Pretty self explanatory. 2. Irridium Spark plugs. Known to be a plug that gas doesnt like and they have now done about 30000km. They are only fitted as with the GT40P heads and the extarctors on the truck the plugs cannot be removed with the extracotrs on. Obviously this is one of the upcoming Dazfab jobs to mod the pipes to suit. Then I will just run a set of standard NGK's and replace them every 5000km. 3. Aircleaner is filthy. Thats a tomorrow arvo job to wash it. 4. Running a mildly worked motor with a bit more comp then standard and a fuel that loves good fat spark on what is basically a standard E series ignition system. Yes it has a MSD coil , cap and rotor kit and leads but they are now around 50k old and have been drowned , through mud , dust etc and most probably well past their prime. If either the Tax Santa , Work Santa or FleaBay Santa is kind enough to supply me with some extra funds once regois paid I will be getting a Crane Hi6 setup for it. So all in all it isnt perfect but I am happy with the current rate of progress.

Yeah mate, Mick is pretty ordinary on emails - best to ring him.
I wonder if the seller of these kits http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/190703783753 ... 1438.l2649 has something to do with yours - install in Perth or Wollongong. This install http://www.alpgw.com.au/Kits/Ford/Ford- ... 07S81.aspx has the injectors in two banks of 4 - I'd assume the BA/BF manifold to be similar to the earlier ones. You can see the converter and LPG MAP sensor near the brake mast cyl. One noticeable thing with SVI LPG, tuned or not tuned - no more backfires - EVER

Yeah Ray that's the guy I got mine through.
BA BF manifolds are nothing like the older ones. My injectors came as two banks of 4 but I mounted them back to try and keep it neat but functional at the same time. Room in my engine bay is reasonably limited. Waiting to get an email back from the pro to tell me if I am relocating the injectors or if I'll get away with it.

Well the words of a few haunted me so I pulled it all back apart this arvo and started to remount the injectors.
They are now down next to the original injectors. Need to make some brackets up tomorrow for the solenoids and put it all back together.

Yeah, best to get it sorted properly.
You'll need some Loctite paste or LPG pipe tape on the threads of the nozzles. Any gas line union that isn't O ring or flared will need this. The std officially asks for Loctite 557, but 567 will be fine. BenJ may still have his tube, you only need probably about a fraction of a teaspoon. Both are fairly expensive to buy.

Well I have moved the gas injector nozzles down next to the fuel injectors and made up some very dodgy brackets and mounted the gas injectors on top of the rocker covers.
Looks ok but I will be getting Daz to do something nicer when the thing is off the road stripped down. Off to the Gong tomorrow for tuning. Fingers crossed its all ok and he can get it to work A1. Wish me luck.............
