Haha.
Yep the Dazfab will be called into action at the required point.
Up until then we will have to survive with MattDodge.
I shall endeavour to remember to give you head on Friday night.

I have just opened my wallet and spent a reasonable amount of coin.
For a loooong time I have wanted to do a twin piston front brake upgrade on the old girl to actually get it to pull up.
These parts only come on the EFI patrols and are in very short supply and are very well sought after. Needless to say when they do become available they are at a crazy price and sell as quick as they are listed. I have been on the hunt for 3 years for a setup and in that time I have only seen a couple of second hand sets become available which I missed out on.
I was at the point where I want it done as I am driving it pretty much everyday now and the brakes are currently stuffed so was seriously looking at buying an entire EFI patrol to just get the front brakes off it.
ANother quick flick through eGay on a Sunday night and all of the sudden there was a shining light.

A pair of BRAND NEW twin piston GQ front calipers! I have never seen them before available.
So once they were purchased and new rotors to suit well another $800 odd dollars was dropped on the beast................
Oh well s**t happens.

Thanks Hans.
Cost wise slightly cheaper then the sets that have gone through before.
BIG difference is I am dealing with brand new stuff with these ones , not sorting out someones old junk.
I oredered the new mounting bolts today from Nissan so they will be in town tomorrow and I found out the calipers dont come with the pad retaining clips or anti rattle pins so thats more bits to order form Nissan on Wednesday.
Fingers crossed I can put it all together this weekend.

is this why you were looking at a pootrol in qld and needed someone to inspect it? my mate is about to take his patrol off the road and part it out, it has the larger brakes, if i knew you wanted some im sure he wouldnt of wanted too much for them because he doesnt know they are that rare.

What do you know about the 4.8L GU brakes, Souperchump here has a set of slotted DBA discs they can't get rid of at $80  Been there for months.

Need to fit a complete GU front end to do it. A big wish list there for me but a very expensive conversion at this point in time. Its a 50mm track increase so the rear diff needs to be changed as well. To get the nice big H260 a*** end would be awesome but.
Then minimum of 16" wheels required to fit the brakes.
So by the time its front and rear diffs , GU steering box and drag link to suit and a new set of 16" wheels and tyres its a 6k conversion easily.
It would stop on a dime but...........

Thought it should have 16" wheels, I needed 16" wheels to use 314mm discs, from bad memory I read in the DBA book they were 320mm? Plenty of tyre choices with 16's anyway, 285/75 is the rough metric 33", but as you said everything else starts to add up to a lot of dollars.

16" rims are a definate future change. When that happens Ill be stepping up to 305 70 16 if I can get an engineering approval for it.
The brake up grade is the first step down that distant path.
But its all dollars.

If it doesnt pull up with these on it we have some issues.

Anti rattle plates and pad retainers (and the correct bolts after a I actually found a spare parts interpreter would would listen to what I was after not just tell me how wrong I was and order the wrong bits in!) are due in at Nissan tomorrow. Pads to suit the twin pistons will be at Peps so either tomorrow or Friday will be game on.
