Bad mistake. Putting a piece of hose in the receiver made a massive difference and I have to say a MityVac is now on the tools requirement list. They are great.
Saturday myself and toolie spent the day stuffing around with mine and doing a running repair on the vajero and I can now report the brakes are f**k awesome!
As we were bleeding them up we found the left rear caliper had sprung a leak so as a quick fix the parts car out the back was raided and the caliper switched. We then unseized the right rear caliper. So a job for the future is to rebuild both rear calipers and do pads. Will most likely wait and get some slotted rotors and do it all in one hit.
I now have a nice hard brake pedal and the big old girl pulls up on a dime.

Very happy I is now.

Oh yeah, opps about that bit. thats why I always keep destructons, but they are an awesome tool to have around none the less, You listened to a tool for instructions for a tool, does that make you a tool? I guess not, just trusting.

I had the same spongy issue with the AU, Then, after the Mityvac, they were awesome. I suggest running it over all your cars to really bring the pedal up.

Yep when we first started using it my call from under the car was "Dave's on drugs , this thing is f**k" and if it was mine it would of gone in the bin at that point.
Read the instructions and used it again and from under the car was heard "This tool is awesome , I will be getting one"
Yep Im planning on doing a full fluid change on the fleet while I have it here. The stuff that come out of the Mav was a bit like tar.

BenJew Brake Upgrade, take 20

Well, Last Saturday was a quiet day. We had nothing better to do, so Jew-lie and I went to MattJew's place.

As he has already said, MattJew was not 100% happy with how the brakes on how the brakes were performing on the poo-troll. Upon inspection, it was determined that we should perform a BenJew style brake upgrade to resolve the issues. We acquired 2 calipers off another poo-troll that happened to be located in a nearby back yard. Having a spare car to mock-up future ideas and acquiring free spare parts is the jewmods way of life. It is even better for the cause if this car is not in our backyard.

After acquiring the 2 replacement calipers, we decided that we should only replace the one for maximum awesomeness. Re-building the calipers or buying new brake pads are just luxury items that are only offered by retailers wanting to relieve you of your precious Jew gold.

Here was have a picture of the progress, and MattJew flashing the Jew seal of approval.

After fixing Matt-Jew's brakes, the group of us thought that we should look at Jew-Lie's pajero. It turns out that the wear indicator was doing it's job, and rubbing on the disc. Well, that Jew-lie must be a darn millionaire. He decided to waste 40 pieces of gold on a new pair of brake pads. If it was my option, I would have removed the wear indicator using a pair of pliers.

After we replaced both rear brake pads, we then attempted to see how the car would look if we were to put 33s on the car.

One wheel down, 3 more to go. It became a group consensus that we should only replace the other tyres as soon as the belts are showing

Shalom

You guys are f**k. Well done on upgrading this status from bloody f**k. Keep up the cheap work. How in the name of God did Jewy get involved in this s**t? I can only assume you met him, or he was taking photos from the bushes.

Jewy just appeared out of nowhere.
I suspect he was following the vajero along getting the Jew gold that falls out of the fuel hungry things exhaust.
He added a bit of build advice then took off towards the shops muttering something about getting the couple of day old bread from the Bakery as it was 50% off.
Then I am suspecting he was hiding in the bushes waiting until the neighbours went out to steal the copper windings from the old washing machine they left on the front lawn for scrap value. I dont remember seeing him at anytime during the works much less him taking pictures.

Well annual leave is over , camping weekend away has been organised and is done and dusted so its back to business as usual.
Which includes building the new truck.
Finished off the recessed floor for the moment.
Fitted some bracing so the floor didnt bow and collapse under the weight of a full fridge.
Image

Then sheeted off the floor and threw a quick coat of the first pressure pack I found in the shed on it to keep the termites at bay.
Image

It is all structually welded in and is more solid then the original floor. I will clean the paint up once I finish all the other fab work and sikaflex and seam seal everything at the same time. Then it will get a good coat of black base colour flex tray liner paint.

Then things started getting interesting.
Image
Image

Worked out my heights and created some bracing to use as a reference point to get the height of the tray extension correct and tacked the new upper cross bars in.

Image
The 50x25 RHS you see welded in the window frames is the height the new ute back will be at.
Once I get to that point I will bend up fill panels to go across the top and fill in the gap down to the original body.
Everything is all tacked up , heights all the way around are checked and correct and its ready to go chop chop.
Unfortunately it had got to around 5PM by the time I got to this point and a thunderstorm hit so we had to stop further progress.
Hopefully over the next couple of afternoons I will find time to fully weld the new upper braces in and see that the roof parts company with the body.
Getting there but still a long way to go.

Sat there this afternoon and had a long look and a smoke and decided that this body would be one of the cleanest and straightest rust free bodies I have seen in a long time.

The thought of cutting it makes me feel bad and nearly stops me from doing it.

Well I did say nearly..................

Thanks Paul.
No going back now!
I wish I had more of a progress report but over the last few days we have had some interesting stuff happen at work which has seen me do 23.25 hours of overtime in 3 days.
While the wallet is cheering the new truck is feeling neglected.
All that has happened this weekend is I picked a new little piece thats cool for the new truck and replaced a rooted fan belt on the old one.

Found a few snippets of time here and there to get a bit done on the new nugget.
Its still in its very early stages but the general idea rolling around in my head is starting to show.

Also the evil ute that has spent so much time unloved , well actually hated is getting a bit of love as well.
What are these bits I wonder?

FIngers crossed by the weekend but otherwise by the end of the weekend it should of gone from a poorute to a Fairute.
