Cheers mate. The thread is all over the place and doesnt cover half of whats been done.
Good news is the repairs are done to a standard thats good enough to drive it at the moment and I will finish the truck properly once my ute is done.
Have been out having a ball in it and am really glad I got to keep it all.
Have a few things on the boil at the sec so will get some pics and progress reports happening soonish!!!
You want to be impressed by one. Look at DA22LE's effort. I went for a run in that on Friday night and talk about go!!! Makes my thing look like an asthmatic ant with 3 broken legs.
Very impressive beast his is!

EVL098 how big is ur fridge i know my 12volt draws 6amp when its in 12volt mode (only 0.6of an amp in 240v mode)
so the 40watt solar panel isnt going to much lol

What type of fridge you running?
I have a 50 litre Waco in mine and it only draws 2 amps at start up and less then that when running. Seeing as though they dont run all the time as they are on a thermostat they dont use all that much power considering. Plus mine is in an insulated transit bag so heats up even less so uses less power again.
The panel isnt running the fridge on its own. Its charging the Optima yellow top on the dual battery system. Its only to keep the system topped up when the truck is not running.
I have had it hooked up over the weekend and is actually doing a pretty good job at keeping everything topped up.
If it does fall short the simple solution is to fit a second 40W panel. My regulator will accept 2 and I actually have another one here hooked up to my camp trailer. If it does need 2 to work better it will get 2. The panels are only $200 each so its not like they are massivley expensive to double up on.

Well dragging an old one back up.
The old girl is driiving fine and seems to have had no major ill effects from the acco.
Now has a set of Lightforce 240 Blitz lights on it , so the dark is no longer an issue.......LOL.

Well I had a look at her today as I was walking past and decided that it is time to old girl got some love. It was put together a couple of years ago and apart from being thrashed and smashed and bits fixed as they broke it has been basically ignored , so the time is fast approaching.
Plan is to get her up under the carport and do a couple of slight body modifications to it.
Can anyone say TWIN CAB ute?
Wont be started for a few weeks as I want to ebay some stuff off to get some working room and capital happening , plus I have aquired a few parts for the boat on tick that need to be paid for before I start doing something else.
So over the following months it will be my something to do in the afternoons and the weekends Donna is at work.
Will have until September to have it sorted as it will require a blue slip after 27th October and Im kind of tipping that if I am out working on my truck in the month running up to the wedding I will not be all that popular............LOL
So as part of the rehash the following will be happening
Chop into a twin cab style side ute
Twin Snorkels
New airbox
A stack of rewiring and rethinking old ideas
Better then avaerage chance a quick jam job to make her sexy once again instead of looking like a beaten up old crack whore from the cross.

Yeah I need to do something. This isnt tinkering but it is maintenance. Im fixing a few spots of rust.
Well thats what Im telling myself anyway...........LOL
It will be an interesting challenge so it will keep me interested in it.
Back window will be a case of finding something that is flat at the wreckers and the lines and size of sort of work and then graftingthat into the new steel plate rear.

Yeah the window will require some thinking. Going to check out what is in my mates VS commo ute next time I see him (if he ever gets it back off his missus) to see whats in it.
Really want to get a window that has a demister in it if possible. Bit of research required there.
Will require engineering. Going to have to wing it but. I really struggle to put ideas to paper and explain them but can do the work when I have it in front of me and can work it out as I go.
Hoping I can find an engineer that will be happy with me doing the work , taking lots of pics of it being done and leaving it uncovered for him to inspect it. I know what it needs to work so fingers crossed.
Will need a bit of bracing put into it for sure. I reckon once it is braced , a new rear firewall fitted which is all tied into the body , and some body crossmembers put in it will be stronger then factory.

For sure! That would be an awesome help.
The more research on it I can do before the grinder is fired up the better!
Cheers.

Well that did cross my mind actually.
Even would have the frame work to fit it once it was cut out.
Is Brad going to kill the ute or put it back on the road or on sell it?
That rear window would just about be perfect actually.
