Just picked up the holy grail of Maverick ownership.
Talk about getting serious and doing things properly. Got it for a bargain price but. Pics to come.

OK bene a bit happening here.
The holy grain of Maverick/GQ ownership. It is only slightly less wanted and rare then the twin piston front brakes. The 082 steering box! Very very rare as it come off the later model GQ's and pmce people have them they dont want to let go of them. Much larger and stronger casing then the early series ones , sector shaft is twice the size of the early ones and it has a slightly faster ratio. The best bit is they are a direct drop in replacement and dont need special draglinks etc like fitting a GU box. I fitted a chromemoly drag link years ago that is bomb proof so didnt want to have to replace that if I could avoid it. The smaller boxes are known for develloping leaks from abuse and smashing sector shafts when running larger then standard wheels and driving it offroad. My original box has been flogged out for a couple of years now but I have been waiting for one of these to come up to replace it. Normally they sell for the high side of $300 when they come up. Was lucky enough for it to be local to me for pickup and the seller not knowing what he had. $150 saw it become mine. The fairute become a little closer to completion today thanks to Donnas eagle eyes. Was out at Richmond at the Sydney Super swap meet walking around when Donna told me to wait a minute and look to the left. Sitting up the back of a stand out of sight was a set of Fairlane Ghia door trims. Had a chat to the bloke , told him I only really wanted the front ones and walked off with them for $50. Winning. One of the jobs this week for the Fairute will also to be fitting up the Hayman Reece towbar I picked up for it cheap last week. Thangs are going well.
