eventually have waited a year or so to find a wrecked turbo car and found one .little bit more damage than i wanted but it was cheep $2400 it only has traveled 108000 klm ,35000 of that modified .bigger cooler bigger injectors valve springs trans cooler 500 hp fuel pump sct scanner 100 cell cat redback twin exhaust.most of the work was done by elite . it has dino sheets with a best of 327 rwk .it also has a drag slip of 12.355 at willowbank. the last owner left me with some extra bonuses a new rockfordfosgate amp and a new sub and capacitor .and a full tank of petrol, that i got to siphon to take the fuel pump out. i have started to disassemble the xr6 and oh my god lots of wires (hope it stars again) the reason for the engine swap is the v8 is just about dead after 64000 klm so i do not want another boat anchor .
{DESCRIPTION} {DESCRIPTION} {DESCRIPTION} {DESCRIPTION} {DESCRIPTION} {DESCRIPTION} {DESCRIPTION} just one question do all xr6 turbos have a steel bash plate under the engine ? mine is all bent up from the crash .also i have lots of parts for sale from the wreck phone me on 0402708765 qld caloundra 4551 |

the motor and box is out ,but got tolled the turbo is stuffed by a mechanic that picked up a set of doors of the wreck yesterday .now i do not know if i just bite the bullet and rebuild the engine and box as well, while its all out but my budget is only about $5000 . the auto place beside my work can do the 4 speed for about $1800 with au parts .and a 2500 stall for about $700-$800 .that does not let me rebuild the motor .found replacement turbo for about $900

Looking, good..
Although you say it has a boat anchor engine? did somone retrofit a EFI 308 to it? lol.. Thats a nice little whoof in the guard! did it hit a tree or stobie pole? Gonna be a mission for you but go hard mate! V8 to turbo 6 isnt somthing Ive seen before.. Nice plates on the ute too! 800 KWR (kW at the rears?) haha.

(nothing wrong just want to make it stronger and more reliable) |

when doing a N/A 6 to Turbo 6. Under the PCM, there are 3 plugs. 2 are for N/A variants the third one is for turbo boost control. This 3rd loom runs across the front of the engine bay and is wrapped in with the other that also runs across the front. if your car was a XR variant this 3rd loom would all ready be there with the plug ends tapped. at the minimum to use the factory ford pcm to control boost you just need to unsleeve this wire from the loom and run it in your car. you can not use it and control the boost in other ways.
as for the difference in V8 to 6 i am not sure what exactly needs to be done, yours being an XT will not have this 3rd loom, not sure if the other 2 will be the same as the 6 either. i would change the entire front engine bay loom over. There are links to the factory ford service manual on this forum that might help you work out if the dash looms are different. hope this helps |

the dash is out of the wreck finely
was not as hard as i thought ,next time will be easier only had to wait for a mate to lift it out with me (not the lightest) .the wiring looks not to complicated as first thought . next thing on the list is taking the turbo of so i can get it rebuild ($580) just doing it on a budget ,will build a new engine once i know it all works in the car . |
