If you can change a gearbox, you can do T5 conversion
The hardest part I found was putting in the pin kit, what a bastard thing to get at!

I'll have a think and will try and tackle it next year possibly. I asked BenJ this question, but if anyone else here could answer it efficiently that would be great, too. Here it is (copy and paste) "Hey BenJ, I was wondering if I could ask you a few questions... As you have seen in my thread, I have the AU engine with the serpentine belt in my EA. I'm running the log manifold with no compressor. To do this, we removed the aircon (as it won't clear the log manifold) and flipped the adjuster upside down and bought a belt to suit. This works, but the belt doesn't have a great amount of contact area with the harmonic balancer. It works like this (all the accessories seem to run fine and the P/S works great) but it has a HORRIBLE whine that won't go away. I am assuming that it's slipping on the balancer, so my question for you is... Do you think this problem could be fixed by putting the aircon compressor on and using the original belt in the normal fashion, giving the belt more surface contact around the balancer? If so, what modifications need to be done to the A/C compressor/mount and the adjuster for everything to fit? I can't find anywhere how people get the aircon to fit under the log manifold, but I noticed in your thread that you had to modify the adjuster also, so your belt would clear the throttle body. If you could give me an insight on what needs to be done, I'd be greatly appreciative. Thanks heaps! Trent" If anyone has any idea's I'd appreciate it. My GF goes away for a month on the 20th and we've come on holidays. I wanted to be able to do stuff with her before she left but without a car it's proving difficult. So frustrating when things continually F up.

Oh sh|t does this mean im going to have more trouble trying to fit my serpentine set up with A/c and everything with the log manifold.

You can run it the way I've got it, you'll need the same belt as me, though. If you want that belt I can get you a part number, it's not common. The accessories work 100% fine but it has a horrid squeal. Alternatively, BenJ has a write up about how to do it with the log manifold. Need to bend the tensioner to get the serp belt to clear the T/B and modify the A/C mounts. We took the A/C off and turned the tensioner upside down. This let us run a shorter belt. So I went to the place where the car is today. I'll pick it up again this afternoon. Have some more bad news... My hand still has the wire in it, meaning if I drive my insurance is void. It was meant to be taken out in November, the DR that was going to do it sent me off to Xray and said that if my hand had healed, he'd take it out in the surgery the same day as it's only a small operation. Unfortunately it hadn't healed and I had to go home. Fast forward to a week ago, everything has healed but no Dr's are prepared to do it. So I had to make appointments at a couple of hospitals, whatever rings first I go to. It was meant to be today, but it turns out whoever the nurse was that had to log my details into the computer never got around to it. The only time I can get in to have it done is the 16th of December. The day after my 18th birthday, so I can't get p****d and I can't even drive to my 18th. If I don't get it done on the 16th, I can't get it done until the 18th of January. So my 18th is F**k, the car is still not working and the belt is a problem. My dad doesn't want me driving it until I can get the belt fixed. So damn dissapointed and out of ideas. Just want to give up on this car and buy a daewoo.

Well a few days ago I got a call from my mate and it's running. The coil had died so we were just replacing the coil, but when the coil died, it killed the dizzy. We never thought to replace the dizzy, just the TFI module because the dizzy seemed fine.
It was only a dizzy all along.... How dumb............
