It's just satin black vinyl dye/spray paint, available from Supercheap Auto and Repco etc. Just clean down the parts you want to spray real well with a wax and grease remover, mask up areas you don't want sprayed etc, then spray away |

I think while im there. i might scrub the interior up and give it a nice new look too. |

_LowKey_ wrote: Is that a guage setup under your stereo? Me like...... It was a VU meter, voltage and temp gauge setup, yes. It was also the gayest looking thing I ever put in the car probably lol, long gone now. Was only there to fill in the gap under the headunit, but couldn't stand it after a while and ripped it out. Now there's a massive gap under the headunit for USB access lol. FordFairmont wrote: very nice example of an E-series !! but it neeeeeds cappa leather..... preferably modded LWB seats Definitely. I put black seat covers on to see how it could have looked with more black in the interior and I was a bit 50/50 on the whole thing. I reckon cappa leather would look mint, especially like something out a LTD, but thats pretty damn hard to track down in good condition. If I decide to go with black seats, I was considering a pair of these as they felt quite comfy and could get them at a decent price. All I'd need would be some brackets made up to adapt the std rails to the seats and then get the rear seat retrimmed in similar material to match. Probably wouldn't look as fitting as cappa leather but the upside to this option would be the seats would 'hold' me in position better, I hate the sliding feeling you tend to get with leather seats with not much bolstering when you take corners. |

The interior is looking mint! Like it was made for those colours.
One thing with those seats, will they have to be ADR approved or something along those lines... |

Anal places will make you get a cert, but 9 times out of 10 most places don't kick up a fuss if it's not too noticeable. Those black M&H seats in Nathans EF probably wouldn't even register on the radar, unless you go to VTNZ or the likes. Now if you are called Rangi and rock up in your primer/pink coloured Integra with M&H seats, that's a different story.

This ^ +1 NZ is soooo laid back compared to Australia when it comes to car modification legalities, but it all depends on where you go. The guy i take my car to for a WOF is a real good mate of my Dad's, so he pretty much does the basic checks and anything that may need attention he just tells me to fix up and it'll be all good haha. He knows that there's a few little mods here and there and not once has he asked about anything so chucking in a set of decent looking seats shouldn't be any different. As long as I take time to get the seats mounted securely and safely that should be good enough. Stuff going to VTNZ, they are C***, full stop. |

Mate what did you do with the gauge setup? Up 4 sale? You might hate the thing but I think it's great. Plus I need to do something to the car. It hasn't had a single alteration this year! Lies, actually the mags and tyres are on after the NYE road trip now, but nothing else at all. Haven't even cleaned it since December inside or out, and it's only getting driven about twice a week thanks to too much work. At least it saves on gas I guess. But yeah, let me know if you are willing to part with the gauges.

Mate, I'm actually not too sure where it is at the moment. I did have it somewhere in the garage when I first pulled it out, but haven't come across it since lol. If I find it, I'll let you know
What mag's did you end up putting on the EF mate? |

Had Auckland All Ford Day today. f**k it was a pretty good one too, apart from all the epic rushing from about 9.30am Saturday till 9.30am Sunday, but it was well worth it...
On Friday arvo after pizza and beers with the guys at work, I picked up my shocks and springs from Chris @ SuspensionTech, cheers for the hook up mate . Good thing Chris had the shock bodies cleaned up and resprayed in black, looks much better than yellow lol.. Now I have a like new pair of rear Bilstein's freshly reco'd and all good to go with some progressive rate springs for the rear. Considering it was AFD the coming Sunday I thought I'd chuck the new rear setup in - can't believe how much of a fail that turned out to be!! Got the car parked up, pulled out the jack, loosened the wheel nuts, go to jack up the rear end, think "s**t, I better get the axle stands" so I go into the garage only to find that the bastards are not there!! Thanks to my uncle who borrows s**t and decides to not returned said borrowed s**t back!! . Guess I'll leave that for another weekend.. Looked at the Fairmont and thought I'd tidy up the engine bay a bit first, looked absolutely crap with the pod filter out in the open and different polished finishes between the piping. After realizing that there wasn't much I could do in the way of a CAI now that the driving lights are in place, I decided it was time to put that old tickford snorkel to good use. Looked at the piping and thought it'd be a good time to redo the intake with some better polished piping and get rid of the EL bend once and for all. Went to Supercheap and picked up an old stock Monza 180 deg alloy bend for $12.50.. score!! Haha, I can thank the girl at the checkout for that, as I walked up with a Calibre branded one which was near on $50, before she pointed out that there might be something cheaper in the bargain bin. She also suggested that I buy her a drink sometime for saving me so much money.. maybe next time sweetheart . Caned the Fairmont down to TradeZone/AAP Imports to pick up a 3" straight alloy pipe and headed down to Pick a Part to pick up an airbox. Took it home, cleaned it up, shaved the airbox lid and sprayed it gloss black along with the snorkel. Measured up the piping and silicon bends cut the pipes to size and put it all together. Looked much better! Did the once over with Autosol on all the polished alloy bits, cleaned up the silicon hoses and joins, then waxed the rocker cover to add a bit more shine to it. Starting to look a bit more respectable now, but still missing something rather large between the coolant tank and rocker cover.. one day Got up around 6.30am today to give the Fairmont a wash, a quick clay bar treatment then a quick once over with some Mequiars ColorX. Turned out half decent by hand, next time I'll make sure I have enough time to fire up the orbital. Polished up the old man's XR6 which turned out mint then headed out at about 9am. Was really supposed to leave at about 7.30am but I was no where near ready and s**t happens lol. Had a decent run out to the show. Went to the local Shell to fill up and caught a Shelby Cobra right as we were pulling out of the driveway. Pretty much followed him all the way to the stadium lol. Couple of pic's of the Fairmont and the XR6 parked up at the show.. And one for the Burger Fuel girls hehe, cheers ladies . Would have been good to get all 4 girls in the photo, but the other 2 were off posing in one of the Roush 'stangs All in all, a great day!! Even though we rocked up a bit late, one of the NZfordforum owners reserved us 2 spots by sitting one of their newly made flanners up hahaha. Cheers Dave . Got to meet up with a couple of forum members, met a few new faces, had a good feed and saw some real awesome cars!! Wasn't as big of a turnout as last year's (600-700 cars), but the overall quality of cars had improved and there was a much better variety. Last year was heavily dominated by the Mustangs and B-series fords. This year there was a couple of nice e-series ford's around, including a grunty as blown ED Sprint (which disappeared shortly after we turned up, sadly) an Alan Jones Signature EL, a couple of nice XR's, a 347ci EL XR8 SVO (by South Auckland Motors), an EB GT and even an EL GT. I'll get the photo's sorted maybe tomorrow and upload a couple of the good ones |

Awesome mate. Burger Fuel GIRLS. Not ladies mate. Def' GIRLS.
Do they have any show spots where I could loose the right hand side of the car in some very long grass and fence it off with barbed wire????????? See you next year if they can accomodate that one. |
