Not sure when I'll eventually get those Hertz comp's installed. All I really need to do is trim the speaker cutouts large enough so that it clears the entire rubber surround. At the moment, its fouling by a fair bit, makes it worse because of the 6mm MDF spacer bringing the speaker closer to the door trim. I just couldn't be bothered doing anything with it right then and there on Sunday. If I could, I'd have the map pockets gutted out and glassed up into some decent sealed enclosures/pods, which is what I really would want to do with the Hertz woofers. They have a decent amount of midbass in a properly sealed door, so making up proper sealed sealed fibreglass enclosures with the right volume and a bit of angle in the mounting to bring it on-axis should work well. Just need to get some skills with fibreglassing first and then a 4 channel amp to run them active
I'll chuck the Response comp's back in on the weekend, at least then I'll have a proper front stage again for the first time in a long while. Hoping by deadening and attempting to seal the doors, the Response woofers will provide enough midbass for now. As for handling, its handles freaking well man. The other day I took a guy around the block and absolutely threw it into this fairly long right hand bend at about 80-90k's which I usually take at no more than 70k's just because the inside rear wheel felt like it would lift up, was quite surprised when it held it's own the whole way through, sat nice and flat with next to no roll at all and managed to accelerate out earlier as well. Over the last couple of days with all the rain etc, I've noticed it has a huge tendency to hang it's a*** in the wet more easily compared to before. It's pretty awesome.. until you drive at say under 40km's and feel the rear end of the car bounce and twitch about with every slight imperfection in the road. It's a price I'm willing to pay for a decent handling boat though Get some pic's up of the Concorde!! Got many plans for this one? |

Sounds good. I've noticed they seem to lose the tendency to slide the a*** when you go from stock suspension to some stiffer gear, obviously yours is that stiff its going back the other way Sounds like fun though. When I finally come over there I'll have to come for a ride, and a listen of the audio gear. Might go this Christmas, see what happens.
I'll throw a few pics up in the Fairlane/LTD thread. Will probably do a few bits to it, just trying not to pour money into it. Already has SLs in it, so looks ok, just very quiet and boring. |

For sure man, give us a buzz whenever you visit NZ
I'm sure the Concorde won't stay quiet and boring for long lol. |

30mm Whiteline swaybar showed up, just need to get the 30mm d-bushes, repaint the bar and then fit it up. Also picked up a Dynamat Xtreme door kit on the cheap, should be enough to get the front doors deadened properly this time.
Just a quick shot I took the other day. |

Your car still looks very good matey. I like the idea of that Dynamat stuff and would love to put it in Lucifa as it suffers from excessive road noise

I swear by Dynamat mate, its magic stuff!! Applied it to my bootlid when I first got around to having a subwoofer setup and it worked wonders, made the entire bootlid so solid and rattle free - only downside is the extra dead weight it adds to panels. I have a massive amount of excessive road noise at the moment, have been driving around with no front door trims for the last 2 weeks now. Feels like I'm in a gutted out race car or something, you can hear every little noise from under the bonnet and under the car, will be very nice once I have deadened doors with door trims again |

It takes 5 minutes at most to pop the trims on.
Looks s**t hot still. Maybe I'll just leave the Concordes on the Fairlane and get 225/50 or 215/55 for them. The backs are f**k, and some idiot has put new 215/65 on the front, looks s**t. Either way, I'm definitely going to paint them all Silver. Any advice? I have a can of Rustoleum Titanium Silver here, looks nice and probably a stronger metallic or pearl than the original silver. Its here, you can click on "show colours". http://www.rustoleum.com.au/rustoleum_aerosol.asp I think I'll need another can and some clear for all five wheels though. What you reckon? The gold clashes with the Blue pretty bad, I reckon it looks s**t. |

I've actually just bought a set of Digital Designs CS6.5 components which I have been waiting over a week for to arrive, door trims have been off in anticipation of them showing up so I could quickly chuck them in to for an audition lol, I'm still f**k waiting! The Hertz comp's are going back in regardless as I'm dead set on a decent-ish SQ setup for the time being, but I just have to hear these DD's in person first haha. Lol @ 215/65's. I guess that's something you'd most likely want to put on a set of stock 15's, but not Concorde's, hell no lol. 225/50's are a decent combo of sidewall and width IMO. I've got them on mine at the moment and will be staying with them for as long as the Concorde's are bolted onto the Fairmont. That titanium silver is quite nice man, definitely a much nicer shade of silver than the orginal. It looks a little similar to the Duplicolor wheel paint I used for those ROH wheels I had before. I reckon that would go nicely with the blue as well. I actually didn't mind the gold Concorde's on your's at all, but with the all the chrome highlights on the Lane, the silver should work better. Would have to see them in silver on the car to compare though. It's all personal preference in the end really . Either way, get some pic's up when they are done mate. I'm contemplating respraying mine in Duplicolor silver just for simplicity (since I can't get the Duplicolor graphite paint I wanted without ordering it in which will take a while) and to clean them up a bit, just need another set of wheels to get around on while I have them off getting done. Only advice I have to offer for if you paint the Concorde's (and I know this is said all the time) is concentrate on prep work before and in between spraying! Spend a bit of time getting the surface sanded back nice and smooth, use a high fill type primer to fill in slightly imperfections before spraying on the colour coats and take your time. I remember rushing through the first wheel I painted and it came up pretty s**t with sanding marks visible, areas of the painted finish looked 'dry' etc, ended up having to redo it to match the rest. |

How many sets of splits are sitting there now!?
I was thinking of just cleaning the wheels and spraying them. They are in good condition, just the wrong colour. I thought as long as they were clean it would be ok? I do have sandpaper, pretty much all the grades. Is the paint on there too smooth to stick to? Can rub them back a bit with 1200/1500/2000? I was thinking the paint already present makes the primer redundant. I'll have a look at the duplicolour paint too. |

Hahaha too many. Will be the last set for a while now though, I've got other things to worry about lol
If the wheels are already in good condition then by all means, go for it. Was just basing that off the s**t condition mine are in lol, chipped all over, deep scratches in places, curbing marks etc, almost enough to make me want to get them completely stripped. I'd probably give them a light scuff with some fine grit paper, just to take the gloss/smooth finish off the surface (if any, I've noticed there is with my set) then just lay down a few light coats followed with some nice even coats until they are completely covered, with a couple of coats of clear on top. And yep, wouldn't worry about the primer unless you were taking them back to bare alloy |

Sounds good. Which also brings me to the other option: Taking them back to bare alloy, then polishing.
I think it would look great, but I have a few concerns. One is that the centre caps are plastic. They won't ever match! They look great without the caps aside from the hubs being visible though. The other thing I'm worried about is that the alloy is possibly poorly finished, and may require a lot of work before polishing. Imagine how it would look though! |

I hear ya mate! I considered when I first thought of painting them, but the idea fell short because of the same reason, the plastic centre caps which can't be polished. I did consider getting them resprayed in shadow chrome, but with the quotes I got from a few different places, I could have almost just bought a set of 18's with that kind of money instead

{USERNAME} wrote: Cheers Slo, yeah man it was a pretty nice score. Hopefully the gears are all good when they go in, apparently some of these used skyline/pintara diff gears and well renowned for their whining, so here's hoping that when the times comes to chuck them in, the diff joint can set them up perfectly Quote: ..now I have to decide to either respray them in that Duplicolor metal flake silver, graphite/gunmetal or Champagne.. Well, I just did a few quick chops with the different wheel colours to get a feel for what it could look like.. Excuse my shocking Photoshop abilities lol.. Here's a shot of it in std form.. Here's what I think it might look like with the Concordes sprayed in: Duplicolor Silver Champagne Dark Gunmetal (couldn't get the exact colour I wanted, but it'll be something similar) Also lowered it a bit more in the chops and put a slight tint on the windows, so now I know for sure that's the exact stance I'm gonna aim for - so about an inch lower up front (superlows maybe) and around 2 inches or so lower in the rear (possibly ultralows) with darkest legal tint. With the wheels, I think the silver and champagne options look good, and still retain the classy look about it.. The dark gunmetal on the other hand has a tough look about it, which I like, but will need a Snort Stage 4 kit at least to back up the look Remember when you did this mate? (I know that was a fair dig ). Perhaps you can chop mine as silver? Crap photo I know, I'll try get more tomorrow. I tried but it wasn't pretty lol |

Lol, I wish my car was as low as it is in those chops. It's funny how good the champagne colour'd concordes looked in that photo, yet when I actually painted my spare in a similar colour and bolted it in, it looked quite out of place.
I gave that chop a try, not sure if that colour is exactly what you're after but its the best looking silver I could come up with lol. If you get a side on shot, I'll give it another go Attachment: SLO247.jpg
