Brake light switches for e-series. You can only get them as a genuine ford part in NZ and they now want about $70 for one. 10 years ago they were $30 and that's was with a trade discount.

In OZ you can get them for about $15 from repco from memory .

It's a total rip... I must have gone through about 15 of them in about ten years. Unfortunately you normally can't wait for one to be posted from OZ so you have to bite the bullet and get a ford one locally. I see they don't have any listed on Trademe either.

Perhaps order a few over and keep them as spares.

You can get the Tridon ones from Sprint Auto parts here in SA for $10!

I picked up 3 aftermarket brake light switches from Supercheap for $5 each a few months back. Found them in the electrical isle when I was looking for a relay to wire up my cornering lights. Couldn't believe my luck

Was so shocked I had to triple check that I was looking at the right price lol. They're somewhere in the garage so I'll pop out later and see what brand they are.

Definitely a good idea to have a few spare, they just seem to die whenever they feel like it :?

EDIT: The brand of the brake light switches is 'Auto 2000' - Part number is '10732-MS20'

Oh noes... Another impulse buy.. Just clicked Buy Now on an EB XR6 head

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =418921733

I'm thinking I may get it crack tested and if all good, just do a good basic port job on this one, get it shaved, maybe fit new guides, new springs etc then have it ready to go on the EF.

At least that way it'll allow me to get a little more serious with the 91AA head like I originally wanted to. Hmm, I think this could be a good thing lol..

Hey Steve,

No sorry mate, I won't be there. I've got a few things that need doing and a couple of family things to attend to during the day so I won't have much time to pop out that way. I think I put a post up in the Final Touch thread over on NZFF about not being able to make it, well I hope I did, as I was planning to come until other things started popping up.

Haha I was thinking WTF when I saw it for $64. He did say it was warped, and I was waiting for a reply on my question as to how bad the 'warp' is, but by the time he would have answered, some other lucky bugger would have grabbed it.

If I have time, I'll most likely pick it up this arvo, he stays about a 20 minute drive from me so it's pretty handy.

Definitely was!! Haha, went and picked it up late this arvo, looks pretty good. Bit dirty as can be expected for a head that's just been removed so I'll drop it off to the cyl head guy to get the ports and chambers sandblasted and washed up as well as a crack/pressure test done before any work gets done to it.

Should be fairly simple to do a decent port job on this one, especially with no valve guide bosses to deal with being a 'tickford' head as well as a nicer shaped port on the exhaust side. I noticed that the exhaust valves are only a 39mm item so I guess that confirms that tickford only went up to the 41mm exhaust valve starting from the EF XR6.

Well all in all, it ended up being quite an expensive day for me. Bought the head, some new valve springs to suit the 351w motor and some new Crower '87049' retainers so I could re-claim my Crower '68315' springs which I donated to the 351w a few weeks ago after I thought I wouldn't bother using them . I guess it gets worse as I think I just secured myself a blue Momo AU XR steering wheel for $100  - my impulse buying habits just need to piss off already.

Pretty f**k happy now though, everything has worked out well this time

New valve spring/retainer/lock kit for the 351w

Seems I did my research a bit better this time round, bought some Crower 3/8" 7deg chromoly retainers and they match up perfectly with the multigroove valve locks

Did a quick test fit on the 91AA head and it's a good fit, so looks like that area is all sorted out now!

As for the 351w, the old man is pretty amped to get to work on it, lol. While I was out getting the springs down at the local speed shop, I found out they had the Edelbrock 2092 top end kit in stock. For a whisker under $3kNZ, I guess it ain't too bad really, especially considering the NZ dollar at the moment (ask Ash, he know's about it ). Having a quick glance over on Summit, it's priced at $1700US, so with the exchange rate, and cost of shipping and whatever other costs are involved, it probably is the easy option to just buy locally :|

Comes with assembled Performer RPM alloy heads (2.02in, 1.6ex valves), Performer RPM airgap intake manifold, Performer RPM cam and lifter combo, timing kit, headgaskets, timing cover gasket/seal, intake manifold and head bolts etc. Something to consider I guess, plan was to just trick up the DO0E heads, but alloys would be much more preferable :P. Makes me wonder why I just went out and bought springs now

Not sure yet . We haven't really found anything decent in Auckland (or cheap enough to suit our budget more like it, lol).

We had a quick talk about it today and agreed that a MK4/5 Cortina would be awesome, a mildly worked 351w with say 350-400hp in a light car would be epic fun. But knowing Dad and his love for the big old school Ford's, a ZD Fairlane would be the pick of the bunch and would bring back some great memories.

At least you are getting some stuff done!

I'm still going around in circles with this EL haha....

ZD Fairlane sounds brilliant, I just love the style and character.

don't you mean ef?
cortina be sweet...but the zd only weighs around 1400kg's so a worked 351 won't have trouble moving it  ,actually any pre 90's falcon/fairlane wasn't to bad in weight
