Ash, you're a legend!!!
Those Atlantic Speed guys have got some pretty nice prices dont they, thanks for suggesting them mate. Definately will keep them in mind when it comes time for upgrading. Have been having a quick skim through Summit's website as well and they seem quite reasonable. Isn't shipping a b**ch though Anyways mate, thanks for tips, appreciate it Hmm, well i got a bit bored this weekend and decided to do this.. I shaved the airbox lid . Pretty basic mod, but im amazed at how much is smoothens the look of the engine bay on that side. Also gave it and the snorkel a quick hit of gloss black to go with the rocker cover and belt cover. Sorry Fiend, i know i said that was it for the engine bay, but i had to do this So far the car is running very nicely, has a bit more oomph now that the ECU has finally re-learnt everything. And even though i have been absolutely hammering the car ever since the new o2 sensor and AU injectors went in, the fuel economy is a bit better, right now i think the trip comp is reading around 18.5 per 100kms with all my thrashing around. Should start dropping over the next few days as im gonna try and baby it around more to save spending so much on fuel each week For the next mod, i may start working on an adjustable shiftkit which should have the auto going a bit better |

The bloody lever inside the cabin to release the bonnet catch has fallen out of place on numerous occasions though so it wont be long before something else lets go |

Haha, its only a matter of time I hope it doesnt decide to go all of sudden and i cant open the bonnet facer01 wrote: thats definately one nice engine bay. im sure a turbo or the new engine would make it even better though Thanks mate, dont tempt me with those ideas either, im already struggling enough as is I was thinking boost later on down the track, but i think ive decided against it as of late. I wanna keep the Fairmont N/A, but a tough reliable one at that. Hoping to probably push 150~kw at the wheels when i finish porting the head and get all the valve work and springs sorted, match that up with an even bigger cam, and get it all custom tuned to suit. Then get the rest of the driveline (diff and trans) up to scratch so its pretty much bullet proof.. Then that will be it i think, its my first car so dont wanna go too overboard with it. I'll save that for the next project which is where this V8 might come in play Mar55s wrote: by the look of all the pics there.. all the engine bits are near your ride so one day when nobody is looking... just chuck the V8 in i reckon... LOL i wish mate, i wish. Believe me, its very tempting but i dont think i could do it, well not on my Fairmont anyway, im quite fond of the i6 in it Time will tell though, will see how things turn out once the motor is built and running |

imo you should take the work from the engine bay too the outside of the car and get it looking as good as the engine bay. |

XR kit belongs on an XR.......... this mont look great "as is" with some dumpage & decent rims, both which are suffcient enough for a daily driver in this case |

Far out man, that looks sweet! The wheels really suit the colour well, I often wondered what a set of those would look life on an EF. It's given me a few more ideas for Rachs car now

I dont plan on doing anything really externally, perhaps a respray in the same colour, get the windows tinted and change the exhaust tip because the oval tip just looks f**k now that i've gone spoilerless, but thats about it. I like the smooth stock/original kinda look, doesnt attract too much attention and is practical. Could also make for quite the "sleeper" with a snail strapped to the side of the engine running a decent amount of boost I quite like the Concorde's its sitting on, and the ride height is about where i want it to be. I could go a bit lower but its a good compromise between looks and practicality ATM so im happy with that. Rest assured, this Mont will never see a bodykit ever So hows your Mont coming along FordFairmont? Come to think of it, the way mine looks now is not far off how your Mont used to be with the concorde's and polished grill hey racedirector wrote: Far out man, that looks sweet! Hahaha if you find a set mate, i reckon they would look very nice on Rach's EF, should go well with the N9 navy blue |

Sounds pretty good aye, its got 2 mufflers so it has a nice deep tone to it, has a nice bark when it starts picking up the revs but isnt overly loud. Im also running no cat due to the length of the extractors so that may affect the sound somewhat. Which car are you looking at putting the rage system on? I will get a vid done sometime this week of the exhaust note, as soon as the car is running again lol, had the alternator die on me yesterday so the car is a no go ATM. I did have one but the sound quality was a bit shot when i uploaded it so will have to get a better one. |
