Thanks bud
Unfortunately, i didn't even get a shot of the whole car, thought i did but i have nothing on the camera. I did however get a shot of the engine bay. I can tell you though, he needed a massive custom steel bonnet bulge (same shape as the BOSS bulge, but wider and higher) to clear the top of the motor, and it was one of the tightest fits ever but he managed to get it all in. Bit hard to see from the pic's but it just fits between the shock towers, with a bit of clearance either side. Would be interesting to see what other mods he had done, not sure on what box he was running etc etc. Definitely was something a little different, i rate it up there with the XP Wagon with AU i6 and the XP 2 door with a E-series 302 that was also there. |

I guess i got lucky then, i probably would have ended up drilling holes too if SLO247 didn't mention the idea. BTW, PM replied {USERNAME} wrote: what a monster.gotta love the gaffa tape holding the pod on That's NZ'ers for ya |

{USERNAME} wrote: KWIKXR, when I fitted mine, I broke the studs off with pliers and just screwed it under the numober plate screws. Still fits perfectly, but you don't have to drill holes and you can take it off later. Sorry not sure what you mean. Are there 4 screw holes on the surround which line up to the number plate holes? Probably getting one now, so i'd like to not drill holes in my car if possible. Changed my mind, think it looks good now!

Number plate screws go thru the number plate, the backing then into the car

I'm finally satisfied with the numberplate surround, i think it looks good.. As for the grill, i chucked that on this morning. I I removed the black fins and sprayed them in gloss black, and colour-coded the centre part of the grill in heritage green. Stuck my black Ford oval badge on too as it was the right size. I think i prefer the chromed EF item much more. The EL grill just doesn't seem as bold as the EF grill, but i dunno, like most things, it will probably start to grow on me after a few days. While the EF one is off i'll be fixing up the locating studs as some of them have weakened after the chroming process. Will also be making up a black mesh insert for it before it goes back on. Will also re-do the EL grill, rip those black inserts out and replace it with mesh and see what happens after that. I also think i made a mistake fitting these twin tips to the exhaust, i am getting a weird note out of the exhaust when i stab the throttle, probably due to the internal construction of the tip. I like the look though and it sounds good still, but quickly stabbing the throttle gives out this f**k up sound which i can no longer stand after a week of it being on. It looks like the tail pipe section will be getting some work done in the near future |

I was never a fan of the colour coded grille so i went for a sort of bronze almost a gunmetal grey for the centre of my EL grille when i fitted it. This photo is about 5 years old.

Nice, the grill suits your EF well Bottlejack. I agree with you about the colour coding - that gunmetal grey centre looks much better than it would in white. I was thinking of doing the centre bit in silver, but with my car being a darker colour i thought it might stand out a bit too much so chose to go darker colours to bring out the chrome. I guess i'll have a play around with different colours when it comes off for meshing.

Looks great!
How did you go about painting the surround? I imagine masking tape would be annoying, and dis you use a primer etc cheers
