those wheels look brand new.
boost sounds good, most things n/a you do to it cant be a bad thing for boost anyhow
why supercharger?

Troy, I'm not too sure if I have a solid reason why I want a supercharger over turbo. For some reason, I've always had a thing for supercharged EF/EL 6's. Don't get me wrong, turbo's are great, have the potential for so much more power and everything, but I just can't see my EF being turbo in it's current form. Also, with the supercharger I can still use a highish comp ratio, so long as the tune is right and the temps are okay, it should be pretty snappy on the throttle. So those piss weak excuses are my reason for going the supercharger route

For now though, I'll just slowly finish off the engine with a few more N/A mods just to tie me over until I can afford to boost it. So high on the list is to get the cylinder head machining, valves and springs etc all done, get the head shaved to give me something close to 10:1 comp with an AU head gasket, get it dyno'd, then get in touch with Jason at TiPerformance to see if any improvements with a custom J3 tune can be made. Might also need to look at a new cam grind to suit boost as i have been told by Adrian at Franklin Cams that I would benefit from a "supercharger profile" with a bit more lift than what i have now, so either that or a 977b from Wade which seems to go good with boost. Well that's the plan anyway

sounds like as good reason as any. don't ya need higher compression for boost or is that just turbo?
i've been looking at boost, not sure which way to go tho. but thats next year so plenty of time for research, been trying to find dyno graphs to see which is best down low

I guess the ideal compression ratio would be best determined by how much boost you want to run, amongst other things like charge temps, fuel being used, tune etc. Typically with forced induction, a lower compression ratio will allow you to increase the boost without too much of a risk of pinging/detonation at higher psi, but tuning can play a big part in this. With say the Raptor supercharger kit, I would only ever see a maximum of maybe 8-9 psi with the standard pulley they come with, so a slightly higher CR than std should work well with it as the long as the tune is good. I think BLC on these forums had a Raptor charged ED that had something like 11:1 comp and was pulling about 230rwkw on the dyno.

The wheels look great, very impressive for a spray can job. That Duplicolour paint must be good stuff.

Thanks mate, I'm pretty impressed with how they came out too. Might think about re-doing second hand wheels and selling them off as a little something on the side, just need to get a decent bloody garage first

Hey Bluey, thanks mate! Good to see you've made it onto Fordmods mate

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, the wheels still haven't been put onto the old man's XR yet, still waiting on some replacement centre cap stickers to show up on the door step - hopefully they will arrive sometime this week so we can get the wheels out of the damn garage as its taking up valuable space for my other s**t...

Also keenly awaiting a little something else to show up on my doorstep this week too, should be a nice addition to the Fairmont :)

Thanks bud, can't wait to get some time to do the Concorde's. Have recently seen pic's of them in that Champagne color and I'm seriously considering that now as that colour seems to go well with heritage green

So now I have to decide to either respray them in that Duplicolor metal flake silver, graphite/gunmetal or Champagne. f**k i hate making decisions..

Anyways, these turned up today.....

Scored these suckers for $80, look to be in fairly decent condition. Came out of a supposedly 78 series BW diff from a R31 Skyline, but the gears are stamped 0575 (a 75 series a***) which is weird. Apparently from what I've read on here, they will fit into a 78 series diff with a bit of mucking around. Have also found a guy who can supply me with a second hand LSD centre for $100 so I'll be grabbing one of those, getting it reco'd by the local diff joint and have the lot installed later on down the track. The step up from 3.23's to 3.89's should be fun :P

This is my first ever post so I'll try and see if I can attach a cr*p pic I took with my phone for ya. ..... sorry i can't.

Hey Al, how's it going bud? Man, i still haven't even been to Pick-a-Part since last time we spoke about those parts, weather up here in Auckland has been terrible for like the last month and a half, it's pissing down rain almost everyday and the Pick-a-Part yard turns into a mud pool. Was going to have a quick look today as it says there is a 2002 Falcon there (wondering if it's AU or BA as the description is very vague), but then out of the blue it starts bucketing down

At least you got what you needed though and good to hear you got some work done on your EF too, you should start a build thread in the Garage Section
