Cheers Slo, yeah man it was a pretty nice score. Hopefully the gears are all good when they go in, apparently some of these used skyline/pintara diff gears and well renowned for their whining, so here's hoping that when the times comes to chuck them in, the diff joint can set them up perfectly
Quote: ..now I have to decide to either respray them in that Duplicolor metal flake silver, graphite/gunmetal or Champagne.. Well, I just did a few quick chops with the different wheel colours to get a feel for what it could look like.. Excuse my shocking Photoshop abilities lol.. Here's a shot of it in std form.. Here's what I think it might look like with the Concordes sprayed in: Duplicolor Silver Champagne Dark Gunmetal (couldn't get the exact colour I wanted, but it'll be something similar) Also lowered it a bit more in the chops and put a slight tint on the windows, so now I know for sure that's the exact stance I'm gonna aim for - so about an inch lower up front (superlows maybe) and around 2 inches or so lower in the rear (possibly ultralows) with darkest legal tint. With the wheels, I think the silver and champagne options look good, and still retain the classy look about it.. The dark gunmetal on the other hand has a tough look about it, which I like, but will need a Snort Stage 4 kit at least to back up the look |

well the pick for me would be the dark wheels, but only with whitewalls to break it up a bit
other than that, the champagne wheels look pretty good |

Sorry to place a downer on the Champagne but, I go more for the Silver colour, seems to accentuate the lines on the wheel.
AT the end of the day it is what works for you, either the Silver or Champagne would look striking but I just felt the Silver edged the other one out. |

Thanks for the reply's fella's . At the moment, I'm really liking the wheels in Champagne, the more I look at it, the more I like it. Might have to go see the local auto paint supply place and see what colours they can mix up for me.

No worries George, I must admit the silver does look good indeed, I really like the metal flake it has so it's something I'll have to think about. I still have a bit of silver left over so might give it a go on the spare wheel during the week, see how it turns out and go from there

i'd go the silver..dark wheels don't suit dark cars, from a distance it looks like painted steelies.
score on the gears |

Yeah mate - I'll start one of those threads up soon. Pity though - could have had before and afters of the suspension, etc. Ah well, it's the only thing done so far really....

Troy - Yeah i see what you mean bud, kinda does look like the usual steelies when you quickly glance at it. I think it looks worse in the chop though, the darker colour i was thinking of using originally was Graphite which is way lighter than that. Doesn't matter though, I'm going to try out champagne
Al - Your EF looks pretty sweet mate, sits at a nice height I reckon and looks very clean!! Those tinted side indicators look familiar ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Finally received the wheel centre cap decals this weekend, they turned out great!! Had them made up with a clear acrylic dome applied to the decal for added protection and gloss. Went for a similar look to the original ROH caps with the black on silver look, but with a Ford logo instead. Hopefully, we'll be able to get the tyres swapped over, balanced and on the XR this coming weekend now Also made another decent score this weekend off Trade Me... After a furious bidding war in the dying minutes of the auction, I secured a second hand adjustable cam gear, plus a XR6 camshaft and AU tickford snorkel for the princely sum of $36 The adjustable cam gear should come in very handy, I'll now be able to advance the cam timing a few degrees which is what I have wanted to try for so long. The other bits will be put away for safe keeping |

geez nice price on the auction items
dont go too crazy on advancing the cam timing. I remember when i had the 1521 (110 lobes) it only took 1 degree of advanced timing to bring it to spec, and it tamed the idle heaps and had a noticable change in the lower revs. |

Mate - you are just lucky I slept in on Sunday after the rugby so I missed out on that auction... otherwise it would be mine! That said, all I wanted was the cam... I thought that based on your question to the seller if I won you could have the gear. What are you after for the cam? I'm sure you don't need another one....

Might fit it once I get the other head bolted on and have a play with the adjustment just to see what differences it makes on the street, then maybe fine tune it when I get around to putting it on the dyno... eventually goldfinger wrote: Mate - you are just lucky I slept in on Sunday after the rugby so I missed out on that auction... otherwise it would be mine! Mate, I was watching that auction like a hawk All i was after originally was just the cam gear and snorkel but they wanted to sell the lot together. But now that I've got it, I was thinking of keeping the XR cam just incase I need another regrind cam done later on (I want something a little more aggressive than what I have now and to suit a boost application) but we'll see what happens. If i do part with it, you'll be the first to know bud |

Finally got the ROH's put onto the XR6 over the weekend. Turned out real nice I reckon, just need to convince the old man to throw in a set of superlows all round with matching short stroke shocks/struts.
So that leaves us with a spare set of 16" Motoform Sectors - might get them stripped back and polished up, throw some tyres on them and put them on the Fairmont while I sort the Concorde's out Also, picked up some Samco silicon hi-temp hose in blue for the engine bay - I have a set of 9mm Eagle leads to go on, so should go good together, even though there is a slight colour difference Finally received my adjustable cam gear today!! Also came with the tickford snorkel. After waiting near on 3 weeks for the buggers to arrive after the courier managed to damage the packaging during transit and lost the XR6 cam that was supposed to come with it. f**k useless pricks Now this cam gear is an interesting piece. The aftermarket ones like Crow and Rollmaster are obviously a lot different in look, so if I'm not mistaken, its a modified stocko cam gear!! It appears that the centre part has been cut out, then a 4mm thick steel plate has been made up with a few holes drilled and chamfered and 4 slots cut into it, which has been bolted to the cut out centre part. 4 more holes have been drilled and tapped into the existing cam gear centre in which the slots line up with, giving you the adjustment. I must say, it's very well made and pretty solid. Guessing it may have been made up for a stockcar engine as a vast majority of the stockcar guys here run the 4.0 engine and the seller did mention it could be suitable in a stockcar application. It has about 4 degree's of adjustment by the looks of it, but only advance adjustment as the slot starts from where 0 where the line is. Should work perfectly for what I need it for as I want my current cam to come on a few hundred RPM earlier. On a side note.. My old boss offered me some temp full-time work back at his CNC machining joint till the end of year so I took him up on that offer. So with the cylinder head guy about 2 minutes down the road from the workplace, I should have the spare head completed pretty soon |

Arrrrgh! Can't believe they lost the cam! ... I promise it wasn't me that broke into the couriers parcel to get it out What do they do to replace it? Could you ask for a new one from Wade or something as a replacement?
