I'll try to.....

I've seriously lost the motivation with it lately, mainly because there is so many other little niggling issues with the rest of the car...

Still need to buy more MDF for the boot install, still need to pick up a matching amp to power the sub - looking at a SoundMagus DK1800 at the moment as its a cheap class D mono (<$300) that can supply the power I need (~1000wrms @ 2ohm) and is fairly compact - apparently they work well so we'll just have to wait and find out lol. Also need thicker power and earth cabling too for peace of mind since I'll be pumping a couple hundred more RMS than I was originally going to with the other planned setup. Will also need carpet and other bits and pieces etc. Since I'll eventually go turbo, I want to relocate the battery to the boot so I have to consider that and think about how thats gonna work with the rest of the install..

It's all a big damn head f**k for me at the moment but I'll work through it

I got the weekend off so might pop down to Bunnings and Jaycar, see what I can grab, hopefully make a start on the walls and the handles for the pop out panels and try get back into it. I think I might have just found a place who can supply the correct carpet for me so if things go to plan I'll grab a couple of metres worth next week sometime.

you won't need 1000rms, i run 2 12's at 1000rms each with a 1600rms amp. and i've got it on half and its still to loud lol. but then atleast the powers there if ya feel the need.
that sub looks the goods

Hahaha, exactly mate - I want an amp that could be used to run something else if it comes to that with a bit more power . But yeah, 1000rms should be plenty and still go fairly loud. Hell, my 200rms sub amp combo right now goes alright

Well the original plans of going to Bunnings this morning flew out the window when my uncle rang up and said his telsta TX5 had no clutch pedal. So me and the old man went over and had a look, basically the clutch pedal would just go straight to the floor without any pressure and not return. The uncles place is close to the engine parts place so I went there while they had a fiddle with the car. I bought some intake valves, a new set of spark plugs and some more silicon vacuum hose. I got a pretty good score there, $20 for the set of plugs, $15 for 4ft of 6mm silicon hose and $7.50 for a set of 6 intake valves  . He charged me the individual unit price for the valves but forgot to multiply it by 6 hahahaha, thanks bro!!!

So went back to my uncles place, turned out it was a split clutch hose, letting out fluid and letting it a whole heap of air so we ducked out to pick a part where we got lucky. Of about 15 telsta's and mazda equivalents only one was a manual and luckily still had the cable so we snapped it up. Also went and had a quick squizz at the ford's and first car on the row was a EF2 Ghia. Was pretty stripped out, the top half of the engine was gone because it was ticky spec. Only things left for me to grab were 3 chrome interior door handles which were sitting there already removed - strange enough. Leather seats, woodgrain trims were all damaged though. There is a grey leather handbrake with chrome button and a chrome plated plastic centre piece on the grill that I may grab tomorrow. Then we decided to go, but not before I spotted another EF Fairmont at the end of the row, so quickly went and checked it out and scored another aftermarket headlight in pretty much brand new condition - best thing was it was the opposite side to the one I also picked up from Pick a Part a few months back so now I have pair

f**k, I love scoring good parts at Pick a Part, one of the next best things to sex possibly

Went back to my uncles, fitted the replacement hose, topped up the fluid, bled the air out and now it has a clutch pedal with good feel

So now the original plans for today might occur tomorrow - hopefully. Will probably get some pic's up later if I throw the new headlights on. The end

The leather handbrakes are rare. If you grab it for me, I'll make it well worth your while. I haven't Been able to get one. If you want to earn a few bucks, help me out :D

Yeah man, you guys are pretty unlucky down in the south. Still find it hard to believe that no one has thought to start one up somewhere down there, the Pick a Part branches make a killing up here with the amount of people you see buying parts everyday from there :o

Yep, my uncles car is all good now - well it's really his, but he's

Mate, the leather handbrakes are quite rare indeed. I'd take it and hold onto it for ya, however this one is f**k, the leather and stitching is all ripped up and turned black as they usually do, but it does match the state of the rest of the interior lol, not a very well looked after car at all unfortunately :|. Was only gonna grab it for the button as the experience I had with getting the chrome button out of the last one, well it would have been 10x easier to just take the whole handbrake

Over the Bathurst weekend I shot down to Supercheap and picked up a Calibre vacuum gauge and holder on sale, ended up fitting that yesterday. Works quite well, now I can keep a check on the vacuum side of things to make sure everything is how it should be, so far so good. Lights up something sexy too lol, will have to change the dash lighting back to all blue to match it I think. For now it's just mounted in the holder and screwed into the A-pillar, not in the way of anything and is nice and easy to glance at while driving.

Image
Don't mind the big f**k off crack in the windscreen on the right :x
Image
Swapped out the MAP sensor for the spare one while I was running the vac gauge line and changed over the rubber vac lines to silicon ones. Maybe I'm crazy but it feels like it goes a bit better now, so maybe the old MAP was rooted :?

Silicon fest in the engine bay!! Waiting to find someone local who can do some decent TIG welding so I can get the new intake piping welded up.
Image

Picked up the mono amp for the new sub, from the local car alarm and sounds place. Soundmagus DK1800. Scored it for a touch over $200 - gotta love low ball cash price offers that actually get accepted . Rated at 1000rms @ 2ohm so should suit my setup perfectly. Fingers crossed I might get a bit of work done on the boot install this long weekend coming. Pretty compact unit, and it comes in a piano black finish FTW!!
Image

After work I put the new headlights in with a new set of cheap a** chinese H3/H4 hi/low bulbs which apparently are "HID look" - funny thing is, they are 50x better the Narva arctic blue's I currently have and are pretty damn good for $12.50 per pair. I guess the test is seeing how long the bulbs last. Couldn't get a good shot of the new headlights installed as it was too dark, so might throw one up tomorrow - they look awesome though, the lenses are like diamonds compared to the faded originals. Here they are in all the glory though lol..

s**t camera, but you can see the difference.

Also been picking up a few scores on Trade Me lately. Should be getting 6x 42lb green-top FMS/Bosch injectors in the post sometime this week - they should come in fairly handy for future use. Also have a few other bits and pieces lined up if things go to plan :)

looks like you been keeping busy with the EF, nice work. The perforated part on the steering wheel matches the carbon look in the dash

are the headlights non-genuine?....... be interesting to see if they fade early or not

Thanks mate, yeah the XR wheel matches the CF pretty well. Was actually thinking of changing the wheel to either a BA/BF FPV or BF Fairlane Ghia steering wheel for a different look, but we'll see what's available when I get around to it..

The headlights are aftermarket items. Can't see any brand name on them apart from DEPO, which is what I have seen sold on Ebay and the like. I'm assuming they are some sort of chinese made headlights, the quality of plastic used for the headlight housing is crap compared to the genuine ford stuff, the clear lense seems okay though. For a total of ~$50 for both headlights in near new condition from the self serve wreckers, I can't complain.... but I do hope they won't fade lol. Time will tell I guess :P

Good stuff.

I'd keep your old lights, strip them down and clean them up better. You can do the inside of the lens then. The aftermarket ones will turn to s**t in six or twelve months, the adjusters will break off quickly too. :(

Its all looking great. I love the amp, Piano Black FTMFW!

The cluster looks great too. :D

Cheers Slo, yeah I'm keeping the originals for sure. Will have a crack at reviving them somewhat, and store them away for future use if needed.

Got some snaps of the lights fitted. Think I need a new pair of indicators to match it though so might pick up pair soonish.

Just remember, the aftermarket indicators are crap too.

New Genuine are available at $96 each (in Aus). Headlights were $380 each IIRC. :o
