Thanks guys

Unfortunately it won't be finished until next weekend now. Ran out of 12mm MDF for the drivers side wall, the piece I had left after doing the passenger side wall was a little short for my liking so I'll grab another sheet during the week and do it Saturday/Sunday coming. Because that wall couldn't be done, its put a hold on the sub box. I wanted to do both walls, get them mounted, them make the sub box with a snug fit in between to keep it tidy.

Managed to finish the passenger side wall though which was a bit of a b**ch to get right, turned out pretty good in the end, after a lot of trial and error. Just have to make a template for the top cover, cut it out in MDF and make a cut out to allow clearance for the boot hinge, simple. Mounted the wall upright using a couple of shelf brackets on the hidden side and one bracket on the inside towards the rear (which will be hidden as well when the sub box slides in) to keep it sturdy. Seems pretty solid as is right now so I think thats sorted.

Wall mounted with amp mounted to it..
Image
Hidden side of the wall. The top cover will be screwed into the bare MDF lip which is screwed into the wall, with a snug fit up against the edge of the left edge of the boot, it should stay fairly steady.
Image

All the interior is back together now, and all the wiring has been run so that's one less thing to worry about. Need to get another short run of 4ga for between the mono and distro block as I seem to have misplaced a whole 5m roll of 4ga I had sitting in the garage :?. The just have to hook up the power cables to the distro block, sort out the ground for the digital display, hook up the sub once the box is done and it should be good to go. Fingers crossed :P

Big thank you to the dude who supplied me with the above parts (if your reading), your a champ. Probably would have bought your T61 Masterpower huffer and Snort Stage 4 manifold if I had the coin

Every e-series owner needs a polished PWR coolant reservoir - period.

Will probably chuck it in either this weekend or the following one, need to replace the stuffed coolant level sensor so will do it whenever I do that lol. Injectors will be kept in the 'boost stockpile' for now :P

Yeah man, will do. Should look mint as, needed something polished on that side of the bay to balance with the BBM and s**t on the other side lol.

Picked it up for $250 unused, from a dude off Trade Me (same dude I bought the greentops from) who bought it direct from PWR in Aussie for around $400(NZ). The PWR distributor up here in Auck retailed them for around $450 last time I checked a couple years ago . Very expensive but I reckon they are worth, an awesome looking bit of gear.

Got a little bit of work done on the boot install today. Too many interruptions to really get anything major done so got a few small things out of the way.

Popped down to Jaycar around lunchtime to grab some 4ga cable. While I was there I bought a white LED light strip, consisting of 30 SMD's and a pack of velcro circles so I could stick the light up under the parcel shelf. Also noticed they were still clearing out the rest of their Venom and Response car audio display stock, so picked up a Venom 10" subwoofer for well under half the usual retail price - since I have my old 2 channel JVC 200wrms amp sitting here doing nothing I'll make up a small-ish sealed box for the venom sub (since it's a fairly shallow mount sub) and chuck it in Dad's XR and see how it goes.. They still have a few sets of Kevlar 6"/6.5" splits and some 6.5" kevlar coaxials with adjustable tweeters for around $70 a set so might grab a set of 6.5" coaxials to replace the munted Panasonic things I have right now in the rear. Should match the front splits nicely too.

Got some more 12mm MDF from Mitre10 on the way back so I'm all set for completing the drivers side wall tomorrow. b**ch around with the top cover for the wall and came up with something that looked alright. Was a fricken nightmare trying to make up a template with a Woodstock 12pack box lol.. After a lot of trial and error I just left it at this.
Image

Didn't have any black screws to screw the top cover down with so just used what was laying around. I'll pop out to Bunnings tomorrow morning and grab some black screws to replace them with so they appear more hidden.

Then I pulled out the old boot light, mounted up the led strip and wired her up. Presto!
Image
Image

Lights up the entire boot space with a nice bright even shine, much better than the pathetic excuse of a light that is mounted in the boot from factory.

The rest of the boot install should be all pretty straight forward tomorrow provided there are no interruptions along the way. Hopefully I'll have it all done so I can start running the sub in :P

Since I'm on my drink break, I'll throw in a small update..

Driver's side wall cut to fit, carpeted and mounted up. Fitted the distro block to the wall, routed the wires through and hooked them up to the block. I've now got a fairly decent amount of space vacant on that wall so might just throw a fire extinguisher in there or something for the safety factor.
Image

Sorted out the mounting position for the main power cable fuse & holder. Should be hidden nicely once the battery goes in.
Image

Just have to make up the top cover for the driver's side wall, fit another bracket facing the inside of the boot further towards the back to keep it sturdy from both sides then I'll get to work on the sub box. Will update again later.

Thanks Deff, yeah it's coming along pretty well - much better than I actually thought it would!

Looking forward to seeing pics of the wagon mate, I reckon it'll look awesome in matte black 8-)

I got the top cover done for the driver's side wall. Starting to look the part now. I'm about 80% done on the sub box, the top/bottom/back and sides have all been cut and glued & screwed a whole heap to keep it together - probably went overkill on the glue & screws but meh, at least that way the box is 100% airtight. Tomorrow after work I'll do the forward facing part of the box and round down the top side edges as they are just fouling on the corner area's of the parcel shelf underside.

The distro block digital display isn't functioning at the moment as I need to find a solid grounding point to complete the circuit so I'll sort it tomorrow.

Image

The box works out to be a tad over 2cu ft internal volume (700mm x 310mm x 270mm) without the sub. Was originally just going to go with a sealed enclosure but apparently these subs go very hard in ported enclosures which don't have to be that big according to Pioneer's specs. Will probably have a go at some box designing software programs and see if I can get specs on a round port that will be tuned to around ~35hz

Cheers Troy, was thinking of relocating the battery, or at least setting up the driver's side wall to allow enough room to mount the battery etc, however, I still need to buy a sealed dry cell type battery, preferably a deep cycle Optima yellow top which is around $500-600 lol, then I need to buy a couple of metres worth of thick as welding cable to run to from the boot to the starter, main fuse box and alt then sort out the earth cables etc, not to mention the battery box, cable lugs, kill switch etc etc...

Would end up costing me too much to setup at the moment and I've spent enough in the boot as it is right now (pushing $700-$800 just from the complete boot install) so just left it for now. It's easy enough to remove the side wall and work something out later so I'll definitely get it done when I get the boost conversion underway :)

Damn, I need to step up my game now. Looking good mate!

Debating what I'll do with my sub, ideally I want to build it into the passenger side rear of wagon but we'll see how it goes.
