{USERNAME} wrote: omg the mustang are what dreams are made of........... wheres the in-car vids? after being in that you must be itching to boost the fairmont now Haha, definitely!! I can't believe I left the camera behind when I went for a ride. Next time I go back I'm getting in-car and burnout vid's to share hahaha. It was good to experience it all again, haven't been in a tough V8 since I left Aussie back in 2000. Being in a car with so much torque is amazing, it's weird when you sit in the passenger side and you can't control the car because it's LHD After being in it, I'm definitely very keen to get the Fairmont boosted alright!! In saying that, I'm also very keen to just stop f**k around with s**t 6cyl's and jump into a V8 . The plan was to boost the Fairmont sometime this year, so I'll be saving hard towards that goal and start sourcing all the bits I need. I'll probably just go with something basic like the Snort stage 2 kit to get the ball rolling and see how that goes. |

Haha nice chop.
Will it fit? The Boss does, so if it isn't any bigger, it should be a goer. Mate it to a T56+Some sort of tough diff=Skids! |

Would be awesome if it does fit (not that I'd ever be able to afford that powerplant, lol). It looks quite 'at home' in an e-series engine bay I reckon..

{USERNAME} wrote: Hmmm. BLUE GATES BELT.... MmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmM... Yes, they do look quite good. Much better than my very tired looking old belt that's for sure. Probably would have been only a matter of time before it snapped, it had so many cracks on the ribbed side lol.. Only managed to get time to start work on replacing the front stage yesterday, too busy being lazy was the reason. Only managed to get a bit of the drivers side done, old gear is out and I'm the midst of running new wiring. Previously I had the speaker wiring from the amp splicing into the factory behind the headunit which runs through to the speaker in the door, just so I could avoid running new wires. Now that I'm upgrading, I may as well do it while I can. What a b**ch of a job though! I want to mount the crossovers out of sight, so the only wiring in the door will be for the woofers and tweeters. I bought a bit of 16ga speaker wire a while back so I'm using that for the woofers but only have enough for 2 runs so I'm using 18ga wire for the tweets. Should be adequate for what I'm doing though. I soon found out that trying to run both sets of wiring through the grommet in between the cabin and door was a nightmare. Ended up getting the drivers side done though after a lot of cursing and damage to my hands trying to feed and catch onto the wire from either side of the grommet. The passenger side should be a little easier as I won't be copping a steering wheel to the head now. Also, the woofers won't fit in the speaker hole. Will have to make up at least a 10mm MDF spacer to space the basket away from the hole, easy enough, just hoping I have MDF in that thickness or close to it. Will try to get things done today, but since it's raining again (always the f**k way!!) it might get put off till the weekend. Can't believe these suckers are still waiting to go in after months of sitting in my room. |

MMmmmm.... updates nomnom nomnom....
Looking good but i have to ask something did you use a coat hanger to get the speaker wire through the original gromet? thats how i did it. or did you just ram the wire through the gromet? |

Haha, i just rammed it through, probably would have been 11ty million times easier if I had a wire coat hanger somewhere, all I have is s**t plastic ones
The grommet was pretty much fixed in that curved position so the wires kept getting caught in the ribs. The rain doesn't seem to be moving away which sucks, was planning to try get everything done before I go back to work tomorrow |

I don't think I'll be able to get another set of wires through that grommet anymore. I could always drill a couple of holes and add extra grommets if need be {USERNAME} wrote: stupid question but what are those hertz things? been pissing down here all day what a b**ch. looks like you have a bit of a job a head of you! i'm looking at speakers atm might go boschmann if they any good? The plastic box looking things? Those would be the crossovers . I had a rather pathetic day, has pretty much rained non-stop since last night and is pretty windy, probably because there is/was a cyclone heading towards the north island, or so they say.. I think I'll leave the rest of the job for this weekend, if it isn't raining. Only managed to completely strip out both doors, and revise the mounting of the new amp. Had to remove the plastic end covers of the amp in order for it to fit under the seat properly, and make up a few mounts to mount the amp down since the covers had the mounting holes for the amp. Will still need to run the passenger side wiring, mount the crossovers (still not sure where either!), make up the woofer spacers and mount everything in place before it's good to go. Not sure what the Boschmann gear is like to be honest, doesn't seem to be many online reviews on products from the Boschmann audio range. Their stuff is advertised on Trade Me all the time, seems to be fairly cheap, but wouldn't have a clue about their build quality or how they sound etc. Have been tempted to buy a couple of their older style 15" subs in the past just to see how well they go but never got around to it. |
