Well today, I finally got a chance to wash the Fairmont. Was quite shocked at the amount of dirt and s**t stuck to the paint, especially on the bonnet. Definitely will be needing some clay bar treatment very soon, which will come in handy before AFD. Got around to mounting the driving lights, makes the front end look a bit more classier. At the moment they aren't wired up, decided that it would be a good idea to have a switch wired up inside the cabin so I can switch them on/off whenever I need to instead of them running full time as soon as the parkers and low beams are turned on. Just reading up on other NZ forums about people getting pulled up for having driving lights on with your normal low beams at night time, apparently a lot of uniforms in NZ seem to think they are like foggies or some BS; so just to be safe I'll pick up some extra wire and a decent switch so I can run it inside the cabin and mount it somewhere useful. Will try get a pic up tomorrow, was a bit too dark outside to get anything decent.

About time this thread got some pics though..

Heres a couple of snaps from a recent run out to Maraetai beach a couple of weekends back..

At the cemetery, of all places lol..

And some shots of one of the Hertz woofers mounted up with its baffle, need to DMX the rest of the doors before I get them running...

And the reason why the C*** wont go straight in without a little bit of mucking around..

Looks good KWIKXR how do those Hertz sound?

I think the hertz won't fit because they are a true 6.5". some speakers claim to be 6.5" but they aren't.

How well do the windows go up and down now?!!!! When sticking the 6x9's in the same position I had to pack out a couple of mounting points and the speakers push the door lining out a bit.

If I have windows half down they vibrate like all buggery.

Cheers lukas . Still have not heard them running at all. Will wait till the amp is installed in the boot and work out a decent place to mount the x-overs out of sight before they will ever get any power run through them. The dude I bought them off, who is a bit of an SQ audiophile, trialled them in his install before selling them to me and said they had far more midbass kick then his Alpine Type X comps in the same install - that alone was good enough for me lol. There's only one way to find out though

Yep, these are definitely a true 6.5" driver. Fits in perfectly with a 6mm MDF baffle though, space's the basket away from the speaker cutout and window, should be a pretty solid mount compared to screwed straight into the sheetmetal.

They still go up and down fine, with the 6mm MDF baffle, it gives it quite a bit more clearance between the magnet and window. There's just enough clearance between the woofer and door trim, but with these woofers being 6.5", the mounting ring on the woofer just fouls on the cutout on the trim, so that needs to be enlarged slightly in my case.

I've got two full sets of plain Fairmont door trims in cappa if you need to hack up a set.

Cheers for that Arron, will keep that in mind. I should be alright though, I don't plan on keeping these door trims for long as I want to get a set of LTD door trims for the Fairmont eventually.

Definitely! I can't wait to get them up and running, it sucks the big one not having any sounds up front :|

I only drink Rockstar when its in the fridge and there's no beer lol, been getting them at $8 for a tray of 12 so its heaps cheaper than everything else at the moment. I usually drink Mother, but have recently tried NOS (http://www.nosenergy.co.nz/) and that stuff is awesome!!

Here's a few snaps of the Fairmont in current guise with the driving lights fitted up. Yet again it has rained pretty much all weekend putting off my plans of getting them wired and getting the speakers up and running. I seriously f**k hate the way it pisses down on Friday arvo which then carries on over the weekend and then fines up on the Monday - it's complete BS and always happens when have things you need to do.

And a current one of the boot install, now with a 4.33" round port as of a month or so ago, tuning it slightly higher (around 38ish hz compared to 35ish). Should be looking a bit different once the new gear is all here.
Image

Still waiting on the other IDQ12 to show up. I also have a passionate hate for when things that supposedly get couriered out almost a week ago and still haven't shown up.

Took the Fairmont out for a drive to get those photos this morning and I must say she didn't feel to good on the way there and back home at all. Seemed very sluggish, had bugger all oomph off the line and just generally drove like s**t. Might have to get under the bonnet and look around today hopefully when the weather feels up to it

Also just incase anyone is wondering, since I haven't really kept to my word regarding this.. I'm not planning on spraying these Concordes anymore. I'm pretty much over them altogether. Might eventually just re-do them in silver to tidy them up but that depends on how long they stay on for. I did get some faint gold spray paint mixed up and tried it on the spare wheel.. lets just say, faint gold/champagne with a mix of chrome highlights didn't look that good IMO, would have been alright without the chrome bits and pieces I guess but a bit of chrome is always good. Will be looking around for something decent around 18" during the year, depending on how much moolah I have to spare.
