Thats excellent matey, better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. Justice looks to have been served as well.

Wonder if he will log on to this site and start his case and attempt to clear both his and his businesses name?

I'll check out the Gearbox.org prices, but i have found some very reasonably priced Tremec stuff on eBay. Hows this for a joke, got a price from a place today, cluster, 2nd gear and bearing job: 2550 plus GST.
Let me guess, buy Australian

That price is normal mate. For the LSD pull apart and put back together I was quoted over three grand. $80/hour plus parts. I know how much you can do in an hour, and it isn't much when you're doing fiddly little bits... And then they'll over charge and put costs on for parts etc etc etc.

Just get a new second gear and check the input shaft -- New bearings, seals, and CHECK ALL THE GEARS!!! Stuff the basic rebuild kit in and bolt it back up with heaps of RTV gasket Silicon maker stuff... You'll still be on track to have the car on the road early next month if you order the bits now.

Yeah i just about choked! and they were quoting me for second hand parts!

So i am getting the following from the states, all Tremec Z gear sets, USD.

Lower cluster: $150
Input shaft: $150
Second gear: $95
Master rebuild kit: $195
Postage to Nz: $50

Just have to wait for Eric to pay me now, he said he paid me 600 yesterday but i haven't checked yet, and i'll be chasing him until i get the other 300 too.

Looks like i'll be rebuilding my self, as i'm not paying some place $2550 +gst to build my box with second hand gears. I could get a brand new blueprinted TR3550 off Trademe for that price!!

I have started pulling the box apart, the input shaft looked ok to start with but had a bad nick out of it that looks like it would snap off under too much load, the lower cluster has nicks out of just about everything and one of them totally shredded, and second gear is stuffed. thats about it.

Good thing is the master re build kit comes with all Timken bearing sets.

Also to help fund my re build i just scored the entire EFI setup off an an AUII XR8, MAF, upper/lower manifolds, bluetop injectors, harness, ECU that i think is a manual one, air box, coil packs, leads, crank angle sensor etc etc. it will all be coming up for sale soon, apart from the snorkel which i wanted lol.

Snap

i was looking at those rebuilt T5's a place is selling on eBay Aus, 1200 bucks. not bad but then i have to ship it here ($700) and convert to NZ $$$.
Looks like it's going to be cheaper to do it my self, may have to send it somewhere to put the bearings in though, as dad was saying something about them having to be the right load tension or they will cease up or be too loose and s**t.

Cheers mate, i will let you know, i may just need it yet. He said he has deposited $600 into my account, will know tomorrow that it is there. IF it does show up i may just need a bit of pressure to get the other 300.

If his story IS true and it was his employee, then he may try and save some business face, but if the story is fictional i doubt he will say anything. He has prob' read this by now and seen the amount of s**t he's gonna cop if a post by him pops up, i just hope i get the money.

You can do all the bearings yourself - trick to the countergear is to take off the outer race off the rear bearing so you can get a puller on it - this has to be done in situ in the case. IIRC there are a few clearances you can measure with a feeler gauge.
Biggie is the input/mainshaft endfloat - this is adjusted by spacers that fit between the input shaft outer shell and the input shaft retaining collar (the one the throwout bearing slides on). You need that DTI for that. Getting bearings on is just improvising - using sockets/waterpipe, etc - remember to apply force only on the inner shells.

Cheers Fiendy pal, i have already asked those people a million times. I don't think they even know what they are selling, the pictures in that aren't even the car they are wrecking, apart from the engine one and the interior. I have asked them for the leather and woograin ages ago, said they don't have any leather cars (yet the main pictures are of a 92/3 DC with leather etc) and the woodgrain has the velour console. Anyway, i can't afford it lol.

Just spent a bit of money on car parts to re-sell, off to CHCH on thursday to get em.

Also may have an ED XR8 Momo wheel WITH cruise buttons!! Maybe!

Still waiting on Eric's payment, he mucked it up last week so had to re do it. Not sure if it's stall tactics or what, will know tomorrow.

Yeah mate, the 600 aus turned up in my account today, phew! now just waiting for the rest. He has been pretty cooperative so far, either he is telling the truth about it wasn't him or he knows he got busted. Got your email too haha! Great! you got a better response than i did....i suppose i wasn't quite as firm as you were...maybe i need to take lessons, thanks for that, they will be barking up his tree now big time, i remember...Troyman? EVL098? I think it was him, saying that they have been trying to clean up the image of the business, so this is a kick in the balls for them.

Thats awesome to hear man, at least this guy is willing to try and pay it back instead of f**k around saying this and that and not doing anything about it.. Keep chasing him up about the rest he owes you though and hopefully you'll see the rest of the cash soon

Good news things are slowly working out for you even though you could have done without it in the first place. You should be rolling in it by now, 600 aus is about 5000 nz these days isn't it :)
