Also i picked up a mega score today, a pair of BA Wagon skirts (same as yours Fiend) for $120!!!

Just got to find a cheap freight company to get them here now. I'll have to get the low down from you Tony, on how to install them. Was it easy enough to do?

You found some, sweet!! In NZ or Aus?

My little parcel from you arrived as well, thanks mate!!!

NZ mate, just up north, should only cost about $80 to truck them here. so another cheap find!!
s**t that was quick, that parcel didn't take long did it! Good to hear it arrived safe. I'm still lookin' for a cluster too btw.

Very easy really... I did write a tech doco on it, but it just went something like this --

1)
HOLD UP SIDESKIRTS AND SCRIBE TO MATCH EXISTING BODYWORK
2)
JIGSAW WITH MEDIUM a*** BLADE TO SUIT
3)
HOLD UP SIDESKIRT AND ADJUST TO POSITION, MARK WHERE THE HOLES IN THE BODY FOR *YOUR* ORIGINAL RUBBER SEAL STRIPS POKE THROUGH THE SILL.
-- This bit may be a problem if your car doesn't have the rubber strips attached to the sill... You have to remove these (they're held on by clips that get pushed into holes in the metal sill)
4)
TAKE A SHARP DRILL BIT, AN ELECTRIC DRILL AND DRILL HOLES... ELONGATE THE HOLES SIMPLY BY PUSHING THE DRILL THROUGH THE PLASTIC SIDEWAYS (or use the Jigsaw if you can be a*** reaching down and picking up your jigsaw again --- I couldn't be bothered, I just pushed the electric drill sideways through the forgiving plastic...)
5)
HOLD IN POSITION, CLIMB UNDER CAR and SEE WHERE YOU CAN DRILL BIG a*** HOLES TO ACCOMMODATE THE ADDITIONAL LUGS (not 100% required to be honest!)
6)
HOLD SILL IN POSITION and PUSH THE BIT OF RUBBER WITH IT'S POKEY OUTEY BITS INTO THE SILLS HOLEY BITS.

Top picture shows the BA wagon plastic sill cover / sideskirt and how it originally fitted on the back of the old EF / EL system. The EB and ED are ever so slightly different I think --- That black rubber strip is missing (as seen in third picture) which I used to hold the sills on.

The advice was that the BA rubber bits would fit - They don't. They are too short by about an inch at each end... Which is very obvious at the rear door, dogleg portion so decided to use the EF's original rubber strip. This required making extra holes in the plastic, but there was already modifying going on since I had to take the jigsaw out and remove a wedge section from rear and make the square cutout at front larger...
AND aren't you just the clever bugger? Always getting a good deal... How much is freight, and where are you getting them from? Who's got a BA wagon? I might want some bits...

Cheers mate, once they get here i'll get started on them. Hopefully i find it not too difficult, where theres a will theres a way.

He hasn't got a whole BA, just a few bits and pieces. I'll ask him though. I've had my assorted ford parts wanted add up on TradeMe for months and months, i get an email this morning saying he has the whole lot plus some. I'm also considering buying the tickford xr8 engine cover off him, and the thermo fans. Both items are at excellent prices.

No mate, I just spent all this time putting the HP XR 6cyl in. I honestly shouldn't even be thinking about it. But I know I will most likely wreck another V8 in the future. I already have the T5 set-up. I just know I would regret not snapping up an ECU to suit my ute exactly in V8 manual. So I can tell my wife you are to blame when the V8 conversion starts hey?

Ahh i see, for some reason i thought you already had the 8. Well it's good you only need the actual V8 now, got the hard to find bits out of the way! Strange how the ecu was ute specific...hmm oh well, turned out good!

Lol you can tell her all you want, good thing I'm a few thousand km's away, and nestled in a semi rural town  just don't disclose the senders address label to her and we'll be sweet!

Bonus is, i don't have a wife yet, the GF only see's what arrives on the days she happens to be around, and being a female she never ever notices anything new on the car(seriously, people joke all the time about the females and cars thing, but this is a seriously honest stereotype), so were fine in that department.

I think I could do a whole radiator and fans for less than $100 and thermo fans for $50 if you want... But then again, I still have a little collection of parts with your name on them that is now scattered across the blank canvas that is Fiends life...

As for females as cars / bikes --- The neighbour has a p***y little Ducati which I convinced him was p***y and little and told tall stories about how I used to wheelstand over the whole 1/4mile on the 916ss.

He reckons he could do a trade in and as long as it was red and two wheeled the missus would never notice.....

I thought you sold all those bits? I'll buy a clutch cable reinforcing thing off you in a week or so....?

There is a guy on Trademe "windsor1" or something, $45 for fans and $30 for post.

These side skirts have solved the problem of where to mount my BF LTD badges, I'll mount them on the skirts like the xr8/6 badges are.

WINDSOR1 is the f**k who abused the f**k outa me, calling me a drug addict and a looser and all these other f**k up names because I said "I cannot find a dizzy holder on my EF... The EF uses coil packs, not a dizzy - so I cannot sell you one" and he said "I drive one every day, looser. It has a dizzy, you must be on drugs etc etc" before getting really personal and telling me to f**k off and never cross his path again.

A few months later he is asking me "Hey mate, I've heard you've got a custom tune in your EF, how did you do that" so I was nice and said "firstly, you MUST know if you have a coil pack or a dizzy".....

In short, the guy is a f**k wit. Honestly, he attempted to tear strips off me when I couldn't find a "dizzy" on my EF engines! Lucky for me I never lost faith in my own ability to be correct - even when faced with abuse of that magnitude.

$75 including post sounds just great. Give me $120 and I'll send you the bloody cup holder, firewall strengthener (since I made three more this weekend - sold one to a Fordmods member in Aussie as it happens) and could even include a thermo fan for free! I need money more than some semi professional car wrecker with a yard the size of a rugby park full of broken cars.

I did sell all those bits, as it has been a year since you first made contact... But then again, I now have more bits...

Ah haa, ok i won't deal with him then! Maybe he'l try asking me to find a coil pack on my ED windsor.......

So $120 for the fans, firewall plate and the cup holders including post? Sounds good to me! But I'm not sure when it will be, i have to pay for these side skirts next week, so it could be a couple of weeks away...... I always meant to grab the goodies off you, but i forgot and/or ran out of money. I had every intention to, my memory span is very much "line of sight"

Hahahahaha. That is funny s**t right there and has provided the laugh of the day for me.

Matey, I think WINDSOR1 saw there may have been an error in his thinking at a later date, but having the guy jump up and down on you in a public forum like TradeMe when I am just a novice and he is an experienced guy was quite off putting. I'd stop to help if he wrapped his car around a tree, but wouldn't bother stopping with a spare wheel if he had a flat in the middle of nowhere. You know what I mean.

No worries matey --- I need to concentrate on some sort of long term plan that doesn't involve living day to day from the sale of parts I should be keeping. Am too old to be living in a garden shed really...!

Actually, I didn't think NZ had somewhere that could be called the middle of nowhere. :D :D :D

Oh, common old bean... The South Island is known world wide as "nowhere" and somewhere near the middle would be the middle of nowhere. You can drive for a whole hour without seeing a town down there you know. You just have time to hit cruise control on before it's time to hit the anchors again....

Tried on the side skirts today, after a lick of paint and fully mounted up, they will look sweet!! Only problem i have is, the LTD doesn't use sill rubbers so i will have to think of a different way to mount them....

All my gearbox goodies are now here too so hopefully get some building action going on this week!!

Cheers man, i reckon it looks pretty damn good too! :P

Well i would like to put on front/rear lips, but being an LTD, i'm not sure i could make anything fit, the front and rear bars aren't like any other falcon, i was considering swapping the LTD front bar for an EB GT or similar bar, but i'm not sure if it would mount up ok or if it would look a bit queer....

But for now, that's about all i can afford to do lol, i can't really afford the paint either. I'm in your boat at the moment with the student allowance thingy (the one i have to pay back, i can't get the free one) so funds are tight indeed! I'm going to get hammered at tax time next year, as you will know, students aren't meant to work over 20 hours a week, well i have been working a fair bit lately just so i can pay bills and pay for my toys, March 31st will be judgment day alright...
