Last time I saw pipes like those they were on a lowered Mk 2 Capri with a 289 (four speed with a clutch) I seem to remember). We didn't bother connecting anything behind the headers and ran from Wellington to Hamilton in about five hours. Bloody little rocket ship...

Noise?

Pardon me? What did you say?

HA HA HA HA! Sounds like when i took my mighty boy for it's first run with the rebuilt engine last november, had the J pipe run from the manifold & dumped under the sump. That was it, no mufflers or hot dogs. Sure, it's only a 800cc 3 banger, but when your pulling 5000+ rpm's to be 100kph, it is ear bleading noisy! Even my 2850cc Torry with the T04 & just a 3 inch dump, ending at the base of the firewall isn't as noisy at 5000rpm. :D

But we all have to do it at least once - just because we can.

Cheers

ToranaGuy

See - In cars this age in NZ **we have no cats** which is why all our E series go faster than yours.

That's a very good question, not easily answered. What's the pipe size on these? The look like a good buy for $120, most v8 stuff isn't cheap as you would know.

I thought they were a steal for $120!! Not sure what size pipe they are, they look very similar to the EL GT headers, but the collectors are different.

Lol after reading your posts in other threads including this one, ive always wondered, what the hell is a "mighty boy"? 800cc 3 banger, that would sound sweet! I actually quite like the sound of the Charade 3 banger, real meaty, although the performance doesn't really match the sound...kind of like most Jappers lol.

Exactly as Fiend said mate, us kiwi's have the privilege of no cats, my headers at the moment just go straight into a single muffler and out the back. People say the windsors don't rev, well, with no cat mine seems to rev just fine indeed

I am working towards the turbo, but it's not in there yet. :( I have upgraded from the 543cc slug o matic to the 800cc, with a recent rebuild. Ported the head, and it goes really well for a little 3 banger. It's almost 200cc smaller than the charade 3 pot. I'm also working towards getting it converted to EFI as well. I have the manifold & all the injection hardware, just have to finish the MegaSquirt off & build a wiring loom. I also have the turbo manifold, just need to get either a RHB31, a GT12 or GT15 turbo, some pipe work & a FMIC. Atm the boy looks like this. The 15" mags look much better than 12" steelies eh? Excuse the haze in the pics, NWE was a very hazey looking day......

It's a great little run around, but it still requires a lot more work........

Cheers

Yeahp yeahp yeahp. 800cc of triple goodness - Suzuki in NZ released these as 4WD "jeeps" (I know someone who put a 351 in one of them by the way...) and also as tiny little piss a*** vans. I have not seen the ute before. Aussies just have this love affair with utes huh?

Yeah we do have a love affair with utes. Suzuki also have lots of different little micro car's, but not many make their way down to Aus or NZ. Suzuki still haven't produced a micro ute since 1988, and i don't believe any other micro car manufacturers have either. Closest thing is a carry micro truck, a little tray back thing, but the modern ones we see outside japan are not exactly to Kei standards anymore.

The 3 banger does have a pretty good note to it, and i'm sure it will improve when i turbo it. Anyway, we need to get back on topic!

Cheers

Not sure yet mate, just finished the job and am waiting for the old man to get home as i need a larger spanner to undo my coolant sensor, they definitely look the goods, all very solid, made of brass and they are all USA made, even the OEM coolant sensor is a NASCAR branded USA product.

Atlantic Speed are really great!

I have fit 4 people inside it, including myself driving it, and 2 in the tub standing up, but that was on private property. ;)

MSD stuff does look neat! I've also just bought myself some v8 gear. 2 EB xr8's to fix up. One's fairly easy fix, other is harder, my g/f is getting one, the other i might keep, man, it has a wicked sound to it! They are also BOTH 5 speed manuals! I currently have 3 5 speed EB's in my driveway. 2 xr8's, 1 Ghia 6cyl

I better get back to working on them.

Cheers

NZEA --- Know anywhere we can store and edit our cars then? Comon... There must be somewhere. I could have had two EF Monties for $450 the other day... And there's a EF Mont Ghia for basic "give away to a good home" prices around the bays...
