Cool dude, nice to see an update.

It's been raining here a fair bit too, slowing down my progress & I'm sure a lot of other guys projects too!

Now you have done the thermo fan conversion, are you thinking "why the hell didn't i do this sooner?", I know i was. It's improved my economy a bit & power too.

Cheers

ToranaGuy

Has been raining here for nine days straight too bro.

At least we still have roads around the coast, unlike just up the road from yours where it appears the Pacific Ocean and the rain on the hills have combined to steal half the tarmac......

And I'm still spewing you sold that box to bloody NZEA... My T5 is now officially a T4.333.

Just don't go below 20km/h in fourth... It will never come out and back to neutral. Hitting the short shifter with a sledge is about the only way.

LOL so true mate, i was looking at those roads you have up north, they look pretty sweet compared to our rivers, just about need a jet boat to go down to the shops for some milk.

On my way home today, i was doing my usual route, up over Three Mile Hill and down into Mosgiel, the big "road closed ahead" signs were swung out onto the road, but i wasn't about to turn around and drive back 15 minutes just to get onto the motorway. So naturally i proceeded down, well there was prob' a reason the road was closed lol, big boulders, rocks all over the road, land slides and to top it off, a 150m'ish river at the bottom of the hill where the small stream was now a white water rapid. The laser took it all in it's stride 8-)

Rebuild it, it's easy! I've seen a few pop up on Trademe lately, very well priced too!!

Yeah i bloody hate that noise, sounds like ya driving a Safari or some crap like that lol. I swear those old Safari's just have fans for engines and nothing else, it's all ya can hear!

I'm yet to sample the fruit mate, still have one engine mount to put in, two headers to bolt on, and bolt the underdrives on. Which brings me to my next question.

Went out and took off the old pulleys today, the alt pulley fits straight on with no mods what so ever, it's even the same height etc as the old one, maybe the previous owner fitted it with a mustang alternator? :?

But typical, nothing is ever easy, the crank pulley needs machined by about .5-1mm, it just about fit's on, but doesn't. And obviously the waterpump needs done. Was happy about the alt pulley though, that should save me a few bucks i didn't want to spend!

How'd you get the alternator pulley off? Probably easier without it in the car is it?

Yeah mate, take the alternator off, then just use something to hold the pulley while the rattle gun does all the work.

Well, put the headers on today, what a C*** of a job that was! Had to unbolt the sway bar, unbolt the steering arm, dismantle the header from the "cat delete pipe" and then do it all back up.

Tomorrow will be off to get some new Allen key header bolts as the standard bolts don't leave enough room for them to fit.

Underdrive pulleys are fitted, look great! All painted up in "anodized blue", although i kind of wish i had left them billet instead of wasting my time painting them, as through the process of fitting them, some of the paint has already chipped off in a couple of areas. All good though, still look great.

Found out today also that my throttle cable is only opening the throttle 1/4 open when the pedal is flat to the floor!! Not too sure how to fix that issue.....

Someone else was having issues with their throttle on a 5lt recently, i think they had to move the spot where the cable hooks up to the side of the throttle body to get more travel out of it. I haven't installed headers/extractors on a 5lt falcon yet, but both mine have them, and they don't look like an easy job to me lol.

Cheers

It was EVL098 that was having the cable issues. Have a look in his boat thread.

Cheers, did the same as him, just stuck some washers in there. Hasn't fixed it completely but will do for now.

What does the big plastic cable next to the throttle cable do? I disconnected it as it was causing the throttle to open slightly. Doesn't do anything when the foot is on the acc pedal either...i'm thinking it had something to do with the auto trans??

Also i wired up my 02 gauge to my ECU. Now this has been playing on my mind... the voltage coming from the 02 sensor to the ecu is so small, wouldn't having the wire going to gauge in there as well suck too much power out and give the ecu a false reading of what the 02 sensor is giving??

EG the sensor sends .7v or something to the ecu, ecu would normally receive all .7v, however it now has a wire that needs a reading also so .7v goes that way too, therefore wouldn't the ecu and the gauge be only getting .35v each?? I know nothing about electronics btw. I don't want to have the gauge if it's making my ecu get false readings.

Thanks Huggie, just as you replied i thought about that possibility! It's not wired up at the moment so it can stay off 8-)

Yeah man, that's what i'm intending. Problem is i'm too damn lazy. I have made the switches, i just haven't made the bracket for them. I'll be reading through your thread to see how you get on, might have to make two sets :P
