hit Huggie, that looks hot as!! It's funny how on little jap cars, 17" rims look huge, yet on our LWB's, 20's just look like the factory size wheel.
My friend just stuck 13x7's on his mini, and they stick out like 3" from the body of the car and barely fit in the wheel arch with "rubber band" tyres.

I dunno about that chrome wheel arch trim you speak of, not my cup of tea. What made you take the 20's off or were they on loan from a buddy?

Man, i'm getting moist just thinking of 20's!

they were my brothers. but he had 40 profile tyres and they hit on the upper ball joints. if you get 20's you need to order 35 or 30 profile tyres ;)

The 20's do look good on a lwb ford.

I've got 15's on the mighty boy, they look like 17's or 18's do on a small to large car. lol

Cheers

look at my first pic.. stock height.. imagine that on superlows.. drool.. would be tucking rim now.

tho if i was to go big rims id go 19's as then you can go ANY tyre and not have issues, and to be honest not much difference in size.. 1.75cm on each side to be exact

MMMM rim tuck. How would the 20's go with SL's? I was looking at the ultras on eBay but surely the tyres would scrape with ULs in?

I think i'll be doing 20 on the back and 19 on the front just so i have slightly more room and so it doesn't look stupid. The thing i find irritating about these cars is the wheels on the front look huge compared to the back even though they are the same size, so i will try and compensate for that by sticking slightly bigger boys on the rear.

I really need to do some 3:45 diff gears, i got a vid the other day but i don't really want to put it up coz the gears are so damn long lol, it's crazy. 135kmh in 4th and only doing 3200rpm

Well i'm gutted, the rims i wanted aren't available in E series offset (DTM Shine's) so that idea is on ice currently. Had a few people interested in my wheels but i don't wanna sell them if i haven't got anything to replace them with and i don't want to settle for just any wheel.

On the upside, i sold off all my mechanical Autometer "ultra-lite" gauges (fuel press, pyrometer, oil temp, oil press, water temp, volts) and bought a whole new set of electrical Autometer "carbon fibre ultra-lite" gauges, (volts, oil press, oil temp, A/F and VAC), only cost me an extra $60 on top of what i sold the old gauges for so I'm pretty happy.

Quick update, will post some pics once everything is installed.

I went on a spending binge yesterday and bought a whole load of new stuff for the car.

Cobra Superlow springs (NZ made, better than Kings)
Ford Racing injector adaptors (for my Bosch Design 3's)
Fuel injector service kit
Chrome K&N pod filter
Polished alloy intake piping (going custom)
Three Autometer carbon fibre gauge pods

I also picked up another EB/ED Momo wheel while i was in at the wreckers, they had it sitting up on a shelf and the guy obviously had no idea what it was, got it for a good price 8-)

So within the next couple of weeks the car will be "super lowered" with freshened up AU XR8 injectors, a custom CAI consisting of the K&N and a heat shield box type thing behind the headlight, and i was trying to find a pillar pod but seeing as the LTD's have light Grey velor style pillars, and no one makes pillar pods for the E series, i settled on a set of carbon fibre pods by Autometer, they should complement the interior nicely.

I have attached a picture of the gauges sitting in the centre console for now, i have a custom Grey leather mounting panel to tidy it up a bit. I have the volts, oil temp and oil press in the centre console, and then i have A/F, VAC and D-Pic on the pillar. Gauges galore, but as you know, high series clusters don't have these basic instruments, plus i think the carbon fibre looks s**t hot.

I will be selling one of my momo wheels and also my old Low springs which will pay for the exhaust work so i can finally get the Magnaflow items installed!

Haha cheers. I was just browsing the web for a decent Ford forum and happened upon this one. Saw the thread title and thought "Hang on, LTD-XTC, that sounds familiar lol.

Its definitely on the cards for next year. Would love a dirty old '88 XF, just need the funds aye haha.
Would buy this in a heart beat if i could, would be a great base for a project.

Hahaha yeah... naa. She's camera shy

Small update:
Car still running like s**t, idles terribly rough like i've got a lumpy cam and stalls on first start, i have no idea what the problem is and tbh, at the moment i can't be a*** looking at it!

Anyway, I've decided to take a break from uni, and have hopefully landed a 6 day a week job, so within the next few weeks/months i will be beginning a new project for the LTD!

First up i will be sourcing a 5.0 block and building a 331 stroker, then adding twin turbos to it and a 6 speed tremec.

Another option is buying a Ford Racing 5.0 GT40 crate motor, can get them for $7600 here in NZ at the moment, so it comes complete longblock 340hp minus the intake and distributor. Has all the goodies like cam, GT40X heads, roller rockers etc. If i go this way, i will still get the tremec 6 speed, but will add a BBK SSI intake and twin turbo.

Still in the very early stages yet so a lot more planning to come!
