Wells were sent back but then I got a call saying that they really don't want them back and will knock $100 off each rim If I take them. It will cost about 3-400 to get each centre moved to change the offset.
The correct backspace is 5.25", the wheels I were sent were 4". I'm tempted however I think I'll try my luck and say to them I'll take them if they move the centres and I don't have to pay any more. |

If they stuffed up, it's bad luck.
Full refund, or correctly fitting wheels. No exception. |

5.25" backspace will sit really nice, and take a 275 with rolled guards.

Excellent, got an email back this avo saying that they will get them modified for me, no extra charge.
Also finished the intake yesterday and loaded the stock tune to QH this morning before work. Started up and idled MUCH better. No longer pops and cracks at idle and is "smooth" (well for the cam anyway) Will road test it tomorrow after work, can't wait! I don't think I've loaded a picture of the engine in it's finished state yet, so here it is. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post. |

Love the look of that engine bay, very tidy! The black TFS intake upper adds so much sex appeal to the 5.0
Awesome to hear you got that issue sorted with the uploading to the QH. Even better to hear the wheels are getting modded for free, should look epic with those on the back man You got a snorkel for the airbox? |

thanks mate, It definitely needs to be cleaner, photos make it tidier yours looks so clean you could eat off it!
I always underestimate how much notice people take when looking at pictures, I don't have a snorkel I biffed all that away (including the airbox) when I first started on the engine last year, I also underestimated how much work it is to create a pod system that works and looks good, so I had to get another air box and pipe and install it again. My intentions are to run some flexi conduit from the air box down to the plastic splash guard and run an inverted scoop underneath it... if that makes sense. But It's probably going to be easier just to get a snorkel, just need to find one that doesn't fowl on the PS pulley. |

Photo's do my Fairmont way more justice than it deserves. I wish mine looked as good as it appears in photo's sometimes, would take a lot of $$ to make it mint sadly.
That intake idea makes sense, should work well too. I can kinda relate to the switching of intake ideas, I went from the factory airbox, to a pod setup, then back to the airbox again before ditching it for final time, lol. Would an AU tickford snorkel work or does that foul on the pulley? |

Well the bucking gremlin is back. Got a wof/reg this morning and just started it up and it idles like crap and drives like crap. So I put the stock TFI module back on, still does it.
Smells like it's over fueling something crazy so I'm thinking maybe o2 sensors? Although I replaced those back in 2008 and have only done a couple thousand K since then. |

Got the codes read today, KOEO showed up EGR/EVR faults due to my removal of the EGR system.
KOER showed code 21, coolant temp sensor out of range. But I think that was due to the engine not being at optimum temp. Just about pass out from the amount of fuel the car spews out the exhaust, I dunno wtf is going on with it to be honest. |

Have you got another coolant temp sensor to try dude? It might be so far out of range that it still thinks the engine is cold, therefore dumping in more fuel as they do. Just a thought anyways..
Just out of curiousity, the TFS cam you're using typically should run okay with the factory ECU, right? |

Yea man, TFS1 is ecu friendly. It's a brand new sensor, but I'll try and find the old one to test fit.
I knocked the timing right back to stock today, it doesn't really buck anymore and it only hunts for a very short time at startup now. It's driveable at least but obviously it's just masking the problem. Took it out for a very good drive and it runs pretty well when cold, but when it's warmed up it gets a fair amount of rev hang and just about stalls when I clutch in coming to a stop. Will post up some video tomorrow night after work. |

Got my wheels back, MUCH better. Now I just need rubber to go on them.
Just about cooked the poor thing the other afternoon too, fan relay stopped working and I didn't notice. Luckily I had just pulled in to get fuel and some lady said my car was bleeding Green stuff. Looked under the hood and the hoses were bulging from the pressure, got a ride to Supercheap and grabbed a switch, roll of wire, scotch locks and terminals. I had my leatherman on me which was very handy! Switch bypass didn't do a thing, the relay was dead so I just connected the fans straight to power so I could get home, all is well now. Cylinder balance test on Monday, hopefully this will point out which cylinder(s) is not doing it's thing. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post. |
