They'll be my Christmas present to myself lol.. Cheers Ev, that'd be awesome! I could probably do it, I just need to buy a different plug (or loom?) and I'm not overly confident with splicing into wires haha

Not much to update, But my AC no longer works...
Thinking it might be the AC belt slipping as it's quite significantly worn or the actual compressor itself as it doesn't engage when the AC button is pressed Just before summer too Anyway as a result a serpentine belt/thermofan conversion is quite possibly on the cards as the bottom end needs to be replaced anyway with 300 000+ km on it so it's not the end of the world Quick silly question, Would i be best off with an EF/EL bottom end (as i'd like to keep the tickford head etc) rather then an EB/ED if said serp/thermo conversion is to take place? This won't be taking place til mid to late next year some time as i'll need to acquire parts and moneyz (or a DOHC conversion becomes simpler) so will just keep reading! Cheers, Luke

Compressor clutch not engaging would probably be the system low on gas. There's a low pressure switch so that the compressor doesn't engage and cause damage due to no oil.
Changing the belts isn't a big deal. Just need the special tool to hold the water pump pulley still to remove the clutch fan. I would say that a later model bottom end would be the better bet as it wouldn't have done as many miles. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I am sure that the 6 cyl donk is pretty much the same throughout e-series. It will work out, I'm sure. Until something else decides to break

I'll take a gamble and get it regassed as it was working last week... Might even be a leak somewhere Yep, the other belts are basically new just the mechanic didn't replace the AC belt at the start of the year when it got the water pump replaced (which I don't get why when you're replacing the others ) Bottom end is way off Just gaining as much knowledge and will start accumulating parts in the new year as i'd really love to attempt it myself!

For a while now i've been wanting to have a go at a simple sub and amp install.
Last Thursday I got half a day off work and decided to go do some shopping... Went to strathfield car audio, supercheap, repco and jb hifi, with jb having the best deal! I then went home and did some more searching online and while american audio is cheap, shipping is a killer So I picked up a Kicker 12" sub, sub box, 2 channel amp and an averagish wiring kit for $290 from jb hifi yesterday morning (had a $30 gift voucher so it was really $260 ) This was my first time doing a sub and amp install and I might say it wasn't as hard as it seemed! My connections are dodgy as f*** but It had to be finished by a certain time due to having other commitments... So they were secured with ockey straps for a few drives But this morning I sourced some MDF and 4 small screwable angles for under $10 and voila: I have holidays coming up over christmas and new years so i'll look into making up a floating floor instead of the crappy looking MDF, tidy up the cables a tad and possibly add an LED strip to make it look pretty Anyway that is all for now, Cheers Luke

Another small mod/fix today, won this on ebay for $22.50 posted..
It's off an EL fairmont ghia or something similar. Blends in quite well and seems much more sturdy then the flimsy original EB one! Bottom is a bit bodged as the two flaps had to be cut and new holes drilled to fit onto the hinge but meh, nobody looks underneath

Nice work on the arm rest. You wouldn't pick it if you didn't know it wasn't meant to be there.

Not a lot to update but today I got 2.5" Redback exhaust installed with a muffler in the middle and hotdog at the rear and a 100cell cat to replace the rattly 10+ year old one..
Needless to say the exhaust note is a lot deeper only downside is I'm not overly happy with the tip (looks a bit too small) however got it thrown in for free... Got some tickford car mats a while ago and have tidied up the boot, just need to wrap the timber in carpet.. Plans are over my holidays to get the auto serviced as its been a while and depending on money might buy some new headlights as mine are beginning to discolour from the inside The weathers pretty unpredictable at the moment so motivation to do anything is lacking haha but will get some pics of any work that gets done! Cheers, Luke

Got any pictures of the mats?
The weather is pretty s-hite at the moment. I want to attempt some rust repair, but god doesn't want me to. I like the smaller exhaust tips. Stealth! I had a 2" to 3" tip on my Pulsar. Looked pretty cool until I installed the towbar. It would just touch it causing bad rattles. I ended up chopping it off. Bad idea. Made it really loud in the cabin. In the end I welded some 2" pipe to the end and left it alone. Thanks, Evan.
