Yep, I have til March to decide...
But I think I've reached a decision. Missed out on this by a day: http://www.carpoint.com.au/all-cars/pri ... 89083&Cr=0 Called this morning and it got picked up last night The current car, although has pretty decent paint has too much rust in it and needs too much to make it good again IMO. Aircon doesn't work, Gbox needs service/rebuild, diff needs attention, rust, rear shocks, rust, new cat, engine mounts and obviously the engines cactus. Yes I could go and purchase a wrecker motor but as its a daily (I average 50km a day minimum) it needs to be reliable and I need to be able to feel comfortable driving it wherever. I also like aircon and am not keen on pulling the dash out/paying somebody to do it. As I'm in no rush, I'm going to wait for a good clean EB/ED XR6 to come up for sale with a healthy motor (won't be easy I know) and no rust and transfer the good bits from this EB into it. Ideally, depending on how quickly something comes up/how much money is available, a B series is on the cards If I get desperate I'll get some little Jap buzzbox. Anyway pics of taking the rocker cover off, found a broken rocker gear (I think its called?) too.. And the current daily complete with rear bike rack holder, 4wd ride height and just plain ugliness at its finest: Admittedly, I love driving it lol. Its comfortable, has enough power and rides pretty good. It's fun trying to drive like a grandma making the fuel consumption per 100km drop I just dislike the way it looks. Anyway thanks for all the advice guys, will update as progress is made Cheers, Luke

Miles ahead of the e series, I dont care what anyone says about the b series anymore, I love em I've been driving the AU all week, it's down to 13.6L/100 So much better then the EB! I just miss the power delivery of the EB... Mhm I'd like to test drive a b series, it'd either be a BA MK2 Ghia - BF MK2 Ghia or a manual 6Spd XR6T... Or a manual e series/AU XR6 if something decent comes available lol! {USERNAME} wrote: I know that when I get out of debt, I will be losing my E-plates. That's my main reason for not jumping straight into a b series Ev, it'll take me a few more months to save for a decent one. I kinda don't want to go into debt atm so buying a neatish e series is the next best thing :/

Well she's back
It feels pretty amazing to drive too although the cat has collapsed.. So I have one on order and would like to get that fitted asap! Had to put the spare on to pass rego: First voyage to get some phresh petrol! And the T5 scrubbed up alright.. Besides the exhaust dramas I'm glad I went down this route as opposed to buying another dunger e-series that would've had more trouble. I've actually missed driving it quite a lot over the last few months, it just had a certain feel to it no other car I've driven has. Anyway I have to run this motor in for the first 800km or so under 90km/h which sucks but I'll get there! 200km down, 600km to go!

{USERNAME} wrote: Oh, so you got a new moteur? Yeah, I bit the bullet and just did it lol! Finding a decent condition manual XR6 for around 5K with lowish kms is near impossible these days :/ All the ones I looked at (EB-AU) had either s**t paint, high kms, too much rust or the mechanicals were dying ie diffs/rear shocks/brakes. A certain EL had an off-centered steering wheel too lol! I'm a fussy bugger haha Everything in the car now is virtually brand new besides the fuel pump, alternator, fuel reg and power steering pump.. Just the cat and a suspected exhaust leak near the rear muffler now to sort out and it should be good Oh and my bonnet has taken a turn for the worst not being polished for a few months lol, its worse then the roof!

So the car has been lacking power big time..
This morning I took the fuel injectors out and they were filthy, so I stuffed the old injectors off the AU into it and its improved a bit. Definitely runs a lot smoother and has some power back but something still isn't right. The cats hopefully being replaced Wednesday/Thursday providing it turns up Tuesday so will see if that makes any difference as it has four holes in it and is rattling (which to me says the insides all broken apart?) otherwise the only other thing I can think of is it might be the fuel pump? Can the cam not being dialed in properly or whatever you do in regards to that or the timing being out cause it to be sluggish? Also can the fuel filter be gummed up from sitting for a bit over a month? It was only replaced a few thousand kms ago... Anyway I'll update as things get ruled out I guess. Cheers, Luke
