Yep, ignition coil (I think thats what its called) distributor and distributor cap were all changed while motor was out..

How would I go about checking that?
Or is there any tech docos if its too hard to explain?

*Edit I'm doing a search, all good 8-)

you need to put the ecu into diagnostic mode to adjust the timing..
there is a chance they adjusted the timing without it being in diagnostic mode which would put you timing about 10 deg retarded..

Ah that makes sense!

This might sound obvious lol but if that's the case I'm guessing it will make a noticeable difference? (which it has)

My uncle also reckons the motor may need to just loosen up as it's a fresh motor, although it really doesn't feel like that...

Might have a crack at setting the timing myself, thanks Troy!

Cheers,
Luke

Take it back to the installer and get them to reset the timing with you there. That way if anything goes wrong you are still covered with your warranty.

Yep I think I'm going to have to do that SWC, its still running like horse s**t!
Just hard to get there working full time :(

Cat has been replaced for one that doesn't rattle, turns out the old one wasn't blocked :/
We found the rear muffler has a slight stress fracture however not big enough to warrant a repair, could this be a factor towards the lack of power?

It's had its 800km service and it was supposedly "tuned" but it made no difference...

Spark plugs have been changed as the ones in it were s**t house from the old motor using oil, wish the dipstick mechanic told me before putting them into the new motor :x

Today I reset the base timing myself but didn't touch the dizzy but its still not right.

It did however make a bit of difference combined with new plugs...

The issue is it revs okayish to 3000RPM then just hits a wall and barely wants to rev anymore..

Could a weak/dying fuel pump contribute to this?
Could it just be due to it still being fresh and everything needing to bed in properly?

Will shoot an email off to crescent motorsports as I think I'll pay to get it tuned properly, I just want it fixed!

no, retarded..
if you check the ignition timing out of diagnostic mode its usually around 17-20 deg btdc at idle,
so adjusting it out of diagnostic mode to the timing mark would now put the timing to aprox 10 deg at idle firing later in the cycle, hence retarded...

being retarded is firing later or closer to tdc than it should be...
advancing the timing is to fire the ignition/spark earlier in the cycle..

Mhm okay I think thats put it into perspective Troy, so in other words because its retarded its not getting enough spark when it needs it?

Anyway I'm off to Bali tomorrow for 10 days 8-)

Might shoot an email off now to Crescent and see what they can do when I get back.

Bali was great!
Got really brown, drinks were very cheap ($2 for a small bintang) and the food was half the price of an Aussie pub special 8-)
Needless to say I had a great time despite what people have said about it of late, if you're careful then you will have no issues, would definitely go back!

Anyway while I was away dad drove the EB a bit and got annoyed at its sluggishness and booked it in to the mechanic while I was away.
The mechanic played with the timing a bit more and its seemed to have fixed the sluggish take off!
Although after 3K RPM it feels like it hits a brick wall and it seems to have a slight miss...
Its very pokey under 3K now :)

However being a new engine it only really sees those kind of revs accelerating up a particular hill at an intersection to 80km/h.
I think I will fix the little things and then speak to CMS about throwing it on their dyno in a few months etcc.

I resprayed the red moulds on the front bumper on Sunday and What a difference its made :|
I wanted to test the front bumper as its the body part of the car I care about least but it turned out quite well with minimal overspray!

I'll get around to doing the rest hopefully this weekend weather permitting.

All taped up:

And s**t after shots:

Dad also finally bought some new shoes for the AU:

Another s**t pic:

To merely say they look good is an understatement, they've changed the car completely!

It never used to feel that confident around corners or very stable on the freeway at 100km/h, however now just taking it for a quick spin around the block it just feels firmer on the road and the steering is a bit heavier now.

They also suit the dark colour quite well!

Does anybody know the widest/tallest tyre you can get onto these rims though without going over the top?
The rears are 245/45/17 and the fronts are 235/45/17 but the sidewalls look a bit too narrow...

Anywho, Hopefully I'll update soon :!:

So the EBs trans has thrown an error code stating the inhibitor switch is faulty...
Although since the errors been cleared its only done it once, so I'll try and find one for cheap if I can otherwise suck it up!

It also needs new tyres, so I've decided to bite the bullet and buy it some new shoes instead!
I'm in three minds and need help deciding between three sets of rims I'm keen on...

1)
Image
(Wish it was my car but not mine, bit of inspiration though)
17x8 EL GTs...

2)
Image
RJR 17x8 copies..
(Same wheels that BenJ used to have, can get these with tyres for a good price)

3)
Image
Some SSA branded wheel 18x8

After more observation I'm not overly keen on the SSA's although they're 18s and are different...
I've always been fond of AJR's however the EL GTs look awesome and brand new aren't overly expensive...
Ah decisions

Need some opinions, cheers

I like the SSA wheels, i reckon they'd look alright. Like your car to, the old EB XR6s have always been a favorite of mine....
Need someone with some photoshopping skills to put the different wheels on the EB so can compare :)
