Thanks for the input guys, I've been conviced to go the SSAs now by a few other people also
Providing they're still for available as they were on sale at an online tyre shop as their last set so I'll enquire tomorrow... Otherwise it's the AJRs! Changed the fuel pump this afternoon, boy was it a mission to getting to it after not being touched for ages The tube at the top of the pump was also all swollen lol! Anyway it's a lot quieter now and it pumps fuel so it works haha. I also washed her today.. Cheers, Luke

Well I got the AJRs...
They seemed like the best option having good tyres and for half the price of brand new rims without tyres I couldn't say no! I gave them a quick clean just then and they aren't too bad however I might try and remove the clear from the outer part of the rim and polish them up or give the centre's a quick spray... ...I'll probably just chuck them on lol Pics tomorrow! Depending on how much I've been paid this week I might go on an ebay spree tomorrow and buy a new map sensor, O2 sensor, coolant temp sensor, some boot and bonnet struts and I'm heading to the wreckers tomorrow for a few odds and ends. Exhaust might get done either late next week/early week after then I'll speak to Joe from CMS about playing with the timing and throwing it on the dyno hopefully before I head up to Newcastle on the Easter long weekend. Thats all for now Cheers, Luke

I'll explain a bit later how I cleaned them up, They still aren't as clean as I'd like them to be but I have to go out now so here's some pics to ponder:
Before: After: And on the car: I'm in need of centre caps and the front now needs to drop about 20mm and I'll be happy. Will write in more detail tomorrow

The rims came up a treat! I'm surprised just how well they suit the car too, should be happy with that mate!

They make the car look a hell of a lot better! (not that it was bad to start with)

Thanks guys!
I'm extremely happy with how it looks now and has given me some more motivation to work on it again All I did was apply paint stripper to the weathered clear on the polished outer lip and the s**t literally ate it away almost instantly with minimal use of a scourer sponge (don't get it on your skin though, it fkn burns!) I just need to hit it with some autosol and they should be good! The centres are fairly poor too in terms of clear coat/paint so I'll pull them off again eventually and re-paint/clear them, I just got too lazy yesterday. The ECU was throwing a code indicating a dodgy inhibitor switch which was causing the car to take off in third or limp home mode (this was the sluggishness mentioned a few pages back). It wasn't every time, and after the code was cleared it rarely did it. Yesterday I went to the wreckers and got a second hand one of an AU and fitted it up. It seems to be shifting/driving a hell of a lot better so if I'm ever feeling rich I may splurge and buy a brand new one I need to change the oil in the diff as its getting noisy :/ Might take some decent pics this arvo if the weather holds out!

Just another pic:
Been getting a lot of remarks on the wheels even though they look s**t without centre caps lol I'm liking the look a lot, as I said earlier though just needs to be about 10-20mm lower at the front and maybe 5-10mm lower in the rear to really set the car off but for now it'll do! Also forgot to mention a massive thankyou to BenJ for selling them to me, thanks again

I thought that they might have been his! He mentioned that he might want to pass them on when I did the thermo fan conversion. At least our cars won't look exactly the same at AFD this year
Looks good. Makes me think about washing mine.

Another difference is you have a shiny new bonnet Yeah I thought I may as well get some wheels, needed new tyres and I got these for a fairly good price so it made sense The new look has given me some more motivation to tidy her up a bit so thats always good (bad for the wallet) See what happens!

The shinyness of my bonnet is debatable. But it does look better than it did before.
And did you not notice that the car didn't change gear twice lol? When my car was auto, you would jump on the gas taking off and the car in front didn't react as quickly as you would have hoped. So you back off and accelerate in quick succession. There would be an almighty clunk and you were in lhm. Good thing there is 350 nM or so to play with, otherwise I don't think it would move lol.

Hahaha in my defense the auto was serviced when the engine went in, so I just presumed it would be all dandy And it didn't do it all the time which was the weird thing, usually only when it got hot! It doesn't do it any more however I still suspect something isn't right as it isn't engine braking like it used to when decelerating and putting the shifter into 3rd/2nd... :/ I have a manual conversion waiting to go in so admittedly I'm not too fussed

Yeah, I wouldn't waste money on the auto if it's going in the bin.
