Yeah I'll be making those calls tomorrow. Unfortunately my DC isn't insured because it isn't registered. I had pedders take a look at it to see what the go would be with steering brakes and suspension for the rego inspection..

how did it go at pedders apart from the damage...did they find much that needs to be done?

had much interest in the ef wagon?

The shocks need replacing, but I already knew as much. Ball joint rubber boots (like $30 for that). And a couple of bushes, I can't remember which ones, but they are common for fords apparently, all round though I think it's pretty good since it has been sitting for 6 years, and probably didn't get much more than regular servicing for a couple more years after that too.

No interest in the wagon.. I was going to put it in this weeks carsguide but didn't get around to it. I need to have a proper look at it first too, it isn't starting, I think it might be hydra locked. Even with a battery that's good it barely turn the engine..

My torry isn't registered, been out of rego since 2005, but it's insured on a "Laid up" policy, covers it at home, at workshops & so on, but not while being driven under it's own power.

Cheers

Hmm, that's interesting. Who's that through?

I've been told it wouldn't be covered, and the same woman also told me because of my age I can't insurer my DC as it's a V8, or my first LTD because it was too low, my ute because of its modifications or my XC (when the time comes) because it's too old.

Insurers suck lol.

I'm with Shannons.

The general insurers who insure Jo average won't touch modified car's, they are afraid of them.

Which insurance company did you try?

Cheers

The same retards (RACT) that continued to charge me over $2000 per year even after notifying them of the height of my first LTD. They apparently didn't think it important enough to tell me my car wouldn't have been covered in an accident.

I've called around most of them though, Shannons and one or two others like them wouldn't help much. IIRC they still had problems because of my age or changed way to much..

Age will be the biggest issue. I don't have that issue anymore, but i did when i was younger, Shannons wouldn't touch me until i was 21.

Maybe need to get the car's insured in your dad's name & have you as a second driver?

Cheers

Haha yeah insurance people are too discriminative. They should base the excess fee on the amount of claims, but only if the driver claiming is at fault for a number of consecutive times.

It's silly to base pricing on age, I have no doubt that elderly people make an even or greater amount of claims than young drivers. Sure there are a number of stupid young guys who manage to f up a car or two, but still, unfair.

EDIT

I forgot to mention, after talking in person with Pedders today, he's agreed to fix the damage on my DC. Apparently he thought I was talking about a crack in the middle lower of the bar (probably from a speed bump or one of those cement car park bars) when I showed him photo's of it we seemed to get some cross communication out of the way.

I'm taking it back to the city tomorrow for a quote, and for Pedders to see the damage too.

Ah that's just f-ed, and funny

Got the quote on the DC yesterday, just waiting to hear back about when they can fix it. He said the last time they hod a NC Fairlane in they found it hard to locate an indicator.. I might be waiting a while.

Also the 2 month old battery is at Battery World charging over night, I'm picking it up this arvo.
