Well after looking at my bank account it seems like the AU's exhaust might not get done until Wednesday or Thursday, got to save some cash for use during Wednesday..

I'll probably clear out my ute's tray and interior, wash the XF and AU. And continue with the XFs interior stuff (bolt the FD seat in finally :p).

Also the last few mornings driving to work I noticed the alternator wasn't charging, I thought (although unlikely) that the belt had built up some ice as there was a pretty thick layer of ice on everything that morning, and my ute lives outside.
But it did it after work too, I have deduced that the belt is loose, after the belt warms up from friction it'll grip and operate as it should, so I'll tighten that up too.

I haven't done much to my XF but I did bolt the FD passenger seat down, route some of the controller and seat wiring. And I also wired up a proper plug for the LPG controller and fuel gauge.

Also while I was driving home in my XF the volts went down to 1/2 bars, which is basically zero (`12V), the battery light was sometimes on, then off and then it sort of pulsed.. And the 'lights on' jewel come on and off during the trip too.. I have no idea what the problem is, but I reckon it's either another alternator problem or some wiring issue, or a problem with the volt reading.

I also removed the Falcon and Futura badges from my AU tonight in the almost dark, I didn't realise they were both double sided taped on and had clips.. I accidentally broke the clips off of the falcon badge and the futura badge broke in two..

No matter though, I plan to replace them with BA badges.

I also priced super low King springs from Repco, $212... They didn't sell lowered leaves, and the only lowering blocks they had were 1" and the price was $152 :shock:

I've also gotten some information from Papa Smurf and a guy on Fordforums about the TL ESS.
The following parts are needed:

ECU
Gearbox
Steering wheel
Wiring loom

The wheel is only available in the manual version from Ford now, the auto one has buttons where the radio controls are for the gear selections. And the price for the wheel was $2800, s**t..

And as i expected the ECU isn't available, but it would be way too expensive anyways, plus it would be for a V8. The spare parts guy didn't know where or who i could speak to about sourcing the bin file.

All up though it seems like it would be very expensive. But I was thinking, the buttons for the radio might be able to be used for the gearbox controls anyway, the only difference may be the labeling.

If I could get the bin file it should be possible to get the ESS code from it and use an aftermarket ECU for the 6 cylinder and ESS code. And just make the required changes to the loom.

The gearbox could be used if the valve was changed to be compliant. Also the econ button apparently actives something ESS related, I've forgotten though :P

Wall of text, but still :D

Yeah? The lowering block price was bs though..

I had a look at fitting the exhaust tip tonight too, but the tip is too oval, I pressed it a bit with a G clamp, but a good bit of it is dented in from a driveway or something. I'll probably book it in to get a new 15cm end bit welded on, and I'll probably get them to weld the tip on too. Unfortunately I don't have a welder :(

I also removed the two rear seat and boot lights, they were dust as hell, it was about 2-3 millimeters thick :shock: I'm going to blow them out with compressed air tomorrow, and replace a couple of the globes that are blown.

But yeah, a fair amount of text :lol:

Haha nah, it was only on the inside of the three rear roof lights. Not enough room for that :(

Yeah I saw some 2.5" lowering blocks for an AU for about $65 or something. There heaps for X type vehicles though.

Haha yeah..

Thanks anyway Huggie, but I really want to concentrate on getting this Fairmont dash for my AU, as well as the ESS stuff.

And I still need to transfer the AU in my name, and I think it needs a few bushes. And start spending some time and money of my DC...

:shock:

Again, thanks though :P

I thought I'd post some pictures of my XF.

Here's the audio stuff it came with, but it's very dusty, has tape marks on the amp, and the home made speaker boxes are shiphouse.. Sounds surprisingly good though.

{DESCRIPTION} {DESCRIPTION} {DESCRIPTION} {DESCRIPTION}

And some of the exterior, it badly needs a wash, i don't think its had one in over 6 months being outdoors with heaps of dirt around.. Also the tyres have white marks from the gutter :lol:
I've been meaning to redo the white 'Yokahama 352' on the tyres.

I'll look at the rust on the wheel arches properly soon too. And when I spray the colour coat on those areas I'll be spraying the grill and front bar white too.

{DESCRIPTION} {DESCRIPTION}

Here's a few pictures of the interior before I chucked in a couple more bits of dash trim this arvo:

{DESCRIPTION} {DESCRIPTION} {DESCRIPTION} {DESCRIPTION} {DESCRIPTION} {DESCRIPTION} {DESCRIPTION} {DESCRIPTION}

Here's a couple of the trim in:

{DESCRIPTION} {DESCRIPTION} {DESCRIPTION} {DESCRIPTION} {DESCRIPTION} {DESCRIPTION} {DESCRIPTION}

And a couple of the AU after I washed it, and removed the badges from the tailgate:

I've also attached a video of the instrument cluster, trip computer, side control panels, and electric vent operation. If anyone is interested (it's probably just me, but I love seeing old school car gadgets).

I've got the following to do to the interior of my ute:

Install kick panels
Swap both door trims for blue/grey
Swap driver seat for the FD one
Reinstall stereo
Reinstall speakers
Reinstall amp
Redo audio wiring
Swap roof lining for the grey one
Swap B pillar trim for the grey ones
Wire up side mirrors
Wire up door locks
Wire up immobiliser and remote central locking
Reinstall radio surround trim
Mount gas meter and controller
Wire up power seats
Install seat controllers into the console
Wire up electric heater
Dye tray wall carpet grey or black and reinstall
Dye side wall carpet grey or black and reinstall
Install grey door seals and scuff plates
Wire up cabin lights (and replace bulbs)
Reinstall power aerial

Come a bit of a way from this:

This post is mainly intended to be a type of record for myself really :P
