Might have to have a look see in your build thread at those leather seats XD VAN 82 wrote: oh yea put the pics up of that toasted BA from the wreckers Here they are: All the paint has been burnt off and rusted, the engine has partially melted and an alloy wheel too. There's nothing usable on it..

Yeah there were a few nice cars there..
I swapped the boot trim on my DC today, here's a couple of pics of the old one with the cracks. The chrome handle/lock section on the boot must have been a replacement item on my DC, the one off the garnish I bought has a part no. as well as a Ford logo. The couple of spares I've got alse have this. And it has round plastic inserts, presumably for ease of lifting.. Here's the new one in, I didn't think to ask when buying if it was from a series one or two DC. It must be from a series one because it doesn't have the ABS decal, but I don't really care too much about it anyways. Oh the boot is ajar in those photos which is why its sitting up a bit I removed some more stuff from the XD today too: Engine bay wiring looms Dash wiring looms Brake booster Brake pedal Windows from the van doors Fuel tank (I put it back in the rear of the van ) Dash Climate control gear Other stuff I can't remember As you can see it the pictures, the windscreen broke.. I had cut along the length of the A pillar and was holding a slight gap in it with a screwdriver, bent to pick something up and must have put a bit of pressure on it. It broke I'm going to try and find out of the old X type leaf springs can fit AU+, if they can go then I'll keep the springs for my AU. Otherwise I'm not going to worry about them. As it is I'll have to put a couple of bolts on the diff to roll it around to the front yard for pickup. I will be keeping the diff and all mags from it though. I'll also take out the steering box after moving the shell to the front. While grabbing some mags out of the garage I took a pic of the back of my XC, which rarely gets seen with the door closed obviously. I also spotted a red Momo wheel from an AU TE50 for sale on here, which I bought Here's the pic that was posted, hope he doesn't mind if I re-post it here Expect (with a lot of luck) to see some ESS progress here soon

Nah just got to roll it around the front and take a couple more bits off it..
While driving home in my XF last night (headlights on obviously) just over halfway home and the volt gauge starts flashing.. A little bit after that the whole instrument cluster flickers and gives random readouts everywhere when braking. Just after that the whole cluster turns off when braking, then it was flickering even when the brake lights weren't on. About a minute after that it was just totally off for the rest of the drive home. I went to start it today to move it into the drive way to remove the alternator, trues to turn over then the starter solenoid just clicked.. I had a couple of old alternators that didn't work here so I grabbed the brushes from one with a screwed voltage regulator and installed it in the one with a broken brush. Swapped them over and jump started it from my AU, and it was charging perfectly I took it for a quick drive to charge it up, I also felt like going for a spin It now turns over and starts properly, and a few seconds after starting it from replacing the alternator the trip computer turns on! First time in a while, which I suspected was from a lack of power, and even after taking it down the road to the store starting and stopping a couple of times the trip computer comes on all the time now. Here's a couple of pics of the volt gauge and the trip computer: I also dug out some bits I removed off a ZL I wrecked, as in the pic the six intake runners, rocker cover, plenum and injector sector of the intake. I cleaned them up a little bit with degreaser, I'm going to polish them up a bit and put them in my XF. I reckon I'll only polish up the criss cross bits on the rocker and plenum, and lightly polish the runners ect for a bit of a shine. I also love the oil cap on these things, they should have continued making them from metal I reckon.. Also, if it might be to anyone's interest this is the boot lock chrome bit from a DA I wrecked, it's different from the one from the DC and the non-ford replacement.. I also stumbled across some threads about X series and AU+ series leaf springs, the differences and whether they're interchangeable. There's some consensus that they can be.. So it's still unclear if it's possible or not but it's enough to persuade me to go the the trouble of pulling the XD's springs out. I'm about to go outside and have a look at my AU's springs again, but from an eye comparison they look very similar, apparently some have a round and some have an oval mount, and the standard and 1ton springs are a bit different too..

XD VAN 82 wrote: take them anyway make them fit and good stuff with the trip computer working. Yeah I want to either way but the time and effort (and fuel) may not be worth it. But if they fit i will. huggiebear wrote: i too love the x-series oil caps. can you try one on the AU and see if it fits? id love to hunt one down and polish it Nah, the metal oil cap screws on like the overflow tank and radiator caps. E-series/AU ect screw on like a bottle cap, but you know how the E/A series oil caps work

There might be something available on ebay?
Or if you were keen enough I reckon you could make one fit, but I doubt it would be worth the trouble

Exactly. I think the non-EFI crossflows had the same cap too?
If they aren't they'd be pretty similarly styled I reckon.
