Thought it was about time I started one of these.. Here's my first car;


DAI 1988 LTD

What I did:

Lowered (ultra low's)
18 inch alloys
2.5 ich catback exhaust
Full engine rebuild
Colour coded side moulds and door handles
DC series climate and trip computer (black ones)
Immobiliser and remote locking
etc

Here's a couple of shots of it just before I sold it. When I resprayed the side moulds and bars I removed all the chrome bits 'cos they were peeling like they all do..


XC '1/2' Falcon 500
I've always like the X series, mainly the XF and XC. I saw an XC Falcon 500 '1/2' in the paper for $900.
It doesn't have an engine but I plan to put a manuel box and 351C in it anyway.

It has a fair amount of rust but other than that its in fairly good condition.

DAI 1989 LTD
I bought another DA LTD for $400, it wasn't registered and wasn't running very well so the owner removed spark system and intake to help diagnose, they were never put back on..
But i was good for spare parts etc for my other DA LTD.

Here it was before it was moved up to the garage:

AUII 2001 Falcon Forte
I wanted to change the diff gears on my red LTD but that would also require an overdrive gearbox in order to keep it as a comfortable daily.. So I decided to sell it instead and I bought an AUII Falcon Forte with 400,000 kays on dedicated LPG.

XF 1985 Falcon Ute
Then I started wanting an X series ute more and more so I bought an XF ute for $1000 with the folloowing mods:

Lowered
Alloys (ghias lol)
Exhaust
Duel fuel
Fuel injected 250 Xflow
Floor shift auto box
Full LTD interior conversion (except the power seats)
Full LTD front end conversion
A nice steering wheel
Poineer headunit, amp and speakers

Stuff I've done to date:

Removed side moulds and chrome wheel arch trims
Converted it back to the XF falcon front end
Chucked on a set of magnum (kidney) mags
Started fixing up some rust

I've started getting rid of some rust from the tray area, still have a fair bit to do near the rear wheel arches.

Once I've patched the rust up I'll spray the primed bits and the L/H front quarter panel, bonnet and front bar. The L/H quarter and bonnet are snow white not stark white like the rest of the ute is..

I've also got an XF grill I've been meaning to fit but haven't gotten around to doing it since I out the XF front end back on.. Hopefully buying an XG one from a Fordmods member in a day or so too :)

ZL 1986 Fairlane
I was offered a ZL Fairlane for free from the same guy I bought the XF off. He had planned to get the blue interior to replace the brown one in the ute. I also thought that was a good idea to I picked it up.
Here it is on the trailer:



EF 1996 Falcon Turbo
Since I no longer worked in the city at Telstra I didn't really have a need for a reliable daily car on straight gas (the ute is a daily now and is duel fuel anyway). So I called a guy who advertised an EF Facon in the paper, it had a blown head gasket but was turbo'd. I wanted it, I suggested a trade for my AU and he accpted.

Here's the EF with the stock steelies:


I did put some 18's on it but didn't get any pics.

I saw in the paper a few weeks after that a NL Fairlane without rego, a few dinged panels and some smashed lights. All easily fixable and I thought I could just borrow them from the EF for the pit pass. It was only $200-300 and was duel fuel too.
Unfortunantly someone else bought it.. But it was enough to make me want a LWB car again other than the ute. I fairly quickly lost interest in fixing up the EF..

So I sold the EF to a mate (he's a member of Fordmods now, he's shifteh).

DCII 1993 LTD V8
I had orginally sold my red DA LTD because it would coat too much to do the fllowing:

Diff ratio other than 2.77..
4 spd auto g/box
NC/DC badging etc
Leather
And I also wanted a V8

I found a DC LTD with a V8 in it for $3800.
The description said it was immaculate, but when I travel up to see it (other side of the state) it was a couple of questionable indicators, a few minor stone chips etc.
I was still very happy with it though, and bought it for $3500.

I didn't have all the cash so I'm paying it off and gave him a deposit of $500.

The only problem with it is it's white, I really like the Cardinal red ones.

But it has the following over my DA LTD:

DC series premuin sound (six stack CD, sub etc.
Leather
DC style seats
Black climate and trip computer
Colour coded side moulds and door handles (stock, not sprayed by me like the DA..)
Fuel injected 302 Windsor :)
4 spd gearbox
Better ratio differential
Smartlock
Remote boot and door locking

I've got the set of 18 ich alloys that were on my DA LTD lined up to go on it, and I'll be lowering it ASAP too..

And at a later date a duel exhaust with a cutout on the left hand side on the rear bar to match the stock one so it'll have a pipe on each side.

But I still have to pay the remainder off and put rego on it (and a couple of indicators).

nice collection of cars there remember seeing the red ltd around a few times, that ef turbo is familiar to it was in the car yard across from my house then i saw it in the paper with the blown head gasket, got any pics of new car?

i got a full manual conversion here from my ef if your mates interested lol

look forward to seeing some pics of the beast

round the $700 mark comes with gear box, manual XR6 ECU, fly wheel, clutch, clutch cable, reinforced pedal box, gear stick, gear knob, gear boot wiring loom for the speedo and what ever else i cant think of.

Going to talk to my mate tonight about the stuff that comes with your manual conversion.

I just looked at your link, looks like someone will def be keen to buy it, and it comes with spare sets of mags..

Any interest at the Shannons car show today?

Hopefully someone will have a wad of cash and want to swap it for a tough old ford :D

I've arranged with the current owner of the DC LTD to go and pick it up during the week of holidays from school (2-11th April sometime) so I can make the ~600 kay round trip 8-)

He also informed me that the power steering system has a leak.. The steering did feel a bit stiff when i test drove it, but there wasn't any evidence in the engine bay of a fault.

He's going to have a detailed look at it in the next few days and let me know what the go with it is.


Been meaning to take some pics of the XF 'cos it looks heaps tougher without the LTD front end and Ghia mags..

Just 8 days until I go and pick up my new LTD on one of my days off :D

Also bought some clear AUIII side indicators for it a few days ago.

I also bought a air spraygun, pressure regulator with filter, bog and some more rust converter yesterday.

And I've laybyed a new air compressor, 2.5HP, 40lt tank, and it comes with a 70 or something piece tool kit (rattle guns, etc). $169 from SupaCrap..

Shifteh's gunna buy my old 2HP one.


I'm also going up to the garage where my XC is to day, going to empty all the E series parts out of it and make some room on the other side for my LTD to go for a few days until I get a couple of things fixed up and re register it.

After I finish fixing the rust up on my XF I'm going to start pulling all the panels etc of my XC and sand blast them and begin cutting the rust out and priming it.


I've already removed the interior and drive shaft from the XC and me and shifteh pulled the old 3 speed column manual box out of it a while ago..

I've received the XG grill, sanded, primed and installed it.

It looks good :) I'll have to upload a photo soon.

I'm going to buy some more primer in the next day or so, then I can continue with the rust removal.

I've also been meaning to go and buy more bumper primer to do the front bar on the XF, get that primed and then I'll be ready to order a 500-1000ML of top-coat (white) paint and start spraying all the primed sections (after I've bogged a couple of bits..).


I've also bought a car cover for the DC, its one of those 'decent quality' multi-layered ones.

Bought a new Century battery, permit to move an unregistered vehicle and some power steering fluid (DC has a buggered O-ring seal on PS pump).

All set to go and pick it up in just two days 8-)

Picked up my new DC on Friday.

All round it isn't too bad, awesome to drive, with cruise set to 82K the RPM was on 1500 and didn't budge even going up some fairly decent hills.. The torque of a V8 :D

Needs the following done:

A few stone chips touched up
Some rust here are there under bolts etc
L/H rear tail light
Both front indicators
Quarter panel indicators (I've got a pair of clear AUIII's to go on)
L/H head light
LTD grill need a crack fixed (I sold a spare one I had only a month or so ago :roll: )
L/H side mirror trim
Lubricate aerial or stick one of the spares in
L/H rear window switch need replacing with one of the spares

Although one thing I was really impressed with is the condition of the leather, the drivers seat is a bit cracked but all-round is very good.

While I think of it, is this part of smartlock on high series cars? It hasn't been in my other smartlock or smartshield vehicles..

Just gave it a good wash and put the car cover on, in the photo of the grill you can see some of the billion bugs that got stuck to it..
